The horse was not right it was all over the race course 2 days prior to the race and the result proved it. He's got a problem..

Consequence was good staying filly but not in class of either Elusive Pimpernel or Mystic Memory. She beat Elusive Pimpernel in photo-finish when receiving 16 kg. and later beat Mystic Memory by 3/4 length when receiving 11.5 kgs.
However, as only horse to beat Elusive Pimpernel she will always be remembered.

This horse is the only winner from that stable. A top owner/breeder/steward shifted all his horses from his long associated trainer to this trainer and his horses are yet to see the winning post. Because of the previous defeat the odds were generous. I don't think it was pulled, it was just beaten by some smart riding by Trevo

Watch the video again, you can see Srinath holding Alaindair back with the right hand and whipping him with the left. Check that and see and tell me you cannot make out Srinath's stranglehold on Alaindair!

I agree with Santosh Kumar. Consequence was no ordinary filly. Before she beat Elusive Pimpernel she had set a new record for the 2000 metres at Pune. And I have seen first hand how she flew under S N Chavan in the last 25 metres to trounce Elusive Pimpernel by a short head. That scene is still fresh in my mind! Consequence was simply electric that day!
Elusive Pimpernel was no doubt a great horse, but so was Consequence!

Do not Belittle Consequence's Exploits.
She Not only conquered Elusive pimpernel,She even got the measure of Mystic Memory Subsequently(Next best horse that year after E.P.)-In Performance not a Flash in the Pan.

I hold you in very high esteem, learning that you are a seasoned veteran. But even if you are going to term Alaindair's loss as "an organized loot of punters", I really feel sorry for you. By now, you must have learned from racing that every horse - however mighty it might be - has to lose on the field one day. It happened to the greatest animal on Indian Racing 'Elusive Pimpernel' (losing to a poorly-rated opponent mind it). So, you mean to say horses like Alaindair will keep on winning till their last run? If bookies give cramped odds on them, that's because like you and me, they also find no other firm favourite to win the race. That's all. But when a fluker like B Fifty Two wins, why you blame the bookmakers. That's too much. After all, they have not opened stalls to distribute currency notes after every race to punters like you and me. Come on man!

The pace was run 5 seconds below the normal run of a Class-I of this calibre, and it utilised its rider to lose. May be because of the instructions from owner/trainer.

its not a one way ride - bookies gave a price of 55p to play and 65p to eat outside ,so if anyone felt something was wrong ,he or she could have eaten this fav also .
We could complain if bookies only accepted bets on fav
i for one nibbled a bit on the favourite and @ 150m knew would not pass
Thats the game of racing & we all live to fight another day
so do the Horses & Jocks along with the trainers

Venki. I never back at such odds in MUM. My choice of SHP came 3rd.
Now the race saw the video at home please see again at 150 mtrs Srinath yanks the left bridle allowing the horse to drift out wards and than corrects .
I feel the owners were not interested in a win. How do they explain the odds up from .50 to .80 without any backing on any other horse.
In other words a total payout if the horse had won by th bookies
