Pl note that dividends depends on amount collected in certain pool and no of successful tickets.From that pool amount club commission will be deducted and remaining amount divided equally for succesful tickets. This was done by computers......No one decide dividends..All the best.

Am paid Rs.71 for win at Hyd which translates to Rs.142 at Kol since tote is Rs.5. Still 10 to 1 less then Kol. Agreed. But what you should understand is two main reasons. First is the collections of the off course centre for that particular centre and also if there is dual centre betting at the same time. It was obvious Hyd punters were smart and backed the horse and dividend paid according to collections of that race. At Kol collections would have been more since local racing and punters as you say must have thought twice playing a jockey without whip in a 2000 mtr race.

On Sunday when there was dual centre betting for Mumbai and Hyderabad check dividends at Hyd to see Mumbai dividends at Hyd and other centres and then it should answer your query.

@Rakesh, What was bookies odds? If 14/1 or below, then you have got decent returns at Tote. Agreed, much lower than 251 paid at Kolkata. But no remedy for such variations.

Tote payout on the para-mutuel system depends on collections. And 15k by one person certainly has the potential to bring down the dividend level. At BNG, there was no betting in the 8th race.

Quinella 15k bets! OMG! My highest bets on fc/qnp is 500/300. This much bets will certainly reduce the payout on that combination. Kolkata does not take bets for quinella. Only forecast & trinella.

Be happy Rakesh bhai. Even though you have made out a strong case, the returns are not hopelessly low. Around 56% of what paid at KOL. If I were at HYD, then, I would have demanded from you a party!

Only question is what the bookies odds were. If it was 12 to 1 or 14 to 1, you have got that much only. But, if the odds given are 20/1 or 25/1, then evidently you were too hasty.

I really feel sorry for you. But how long you have been playing races? Don't you know that Totes are meant only to play first or second favourites. That is because more money falls on them. Even if the total collection is in lakhs and if you are going to cut a rank outsider for Rs.15,000, please tell me how can you expect huge returns? In fact, you are lucky to get Rs.71 as win for the entire amount. Had it been Chennai you might have got Rs.6 as return for Rs.5. If it paid Rs.251 in Kolkata, may be there were not many takers for the winner. At least from now onwards, make it a point not to play huge amounts in the Tote, particularly if the odds are longer. I think the animal must have been offered at least 15/1 or 20/1 in the bookies and you could have jolly well divided your amount into Rs.3k and played with five different bookies. Imagine what would have been your returns? You need be very agile when you are in the course, and even such people find their base broken. Hope you have got the message.
