To all you doubtors RUFFINA killed them like a champion. Now Dr. Poonawalla finally has a champion.

@ JP

You are right. You did say Haunting Memories race.

However, Alvarita won three races. Her debut race as 2YO, Bangalore Fillies Trial and Mathradas Goculdas Trophy.

@Mad Max - After the demise of MAM there was MAM Memorial Trophy in all Centres. In all most all races MAMs horses were favourites. None of them won. Even the race at Bangalore Bold Command could have won easily but Sandesh managed to lose to Arrogant Approach. Please see the video. Perfect Star was the first horse to win his masters memorial trophy. It was trained by Karthik and not S. Ganapathy.

@Indian_Turf_Record- I said the first three finishers in Haunting Memories race and Alvarita finished second in Bourbon King race and the horse was owned by D.Khaitan. For the loss of Alwarita MAM gifted him the Bangalore Fillies Trail and it is the only race won by Alvarita and retired to stud.

First Ruffina is not the sloe property of Poonawallas but includes 4 other owners.SO there is no question of gifting or not trying.

What one sees is the manner of winning last time [some do improve] Shapoorji have entered all their best horses [4 of them].

T''MUN last run got 2 whips drifted out still won.If he has been cured of this problem will be hard to beat.

I ma not impressed with the last run of P star[who has a fading star on it.A touch his stablemate may beat him.

Ruffina on the other hand has won very easy ,no whip used. so far.

My vote goes to T.MUM. SOme other hidden horse may win so in such races I always bet very small. [bigger the prize money smaLLer the bet].

Recently there was a MAM Memorial Trophy, sadly S.Ganapathy has to win the race for MAM Trust. If there is no competition in the field, trainers and owners have a second thoughts, what else the sponsors can do ?

@ Mad Max

Do you really believe what celebs say to media ?

If you are instituting a prize for others to win, the simple way of doing it is not to enter your horses.

I would wager on Autocratic to win the PBMM, the Ruffina and Perfect Star are speedy up to 1200 and may burn out if the pace is scorching, the only concern for Autocratic is that it has no track or run advantage in Mumbai.

with an excellent gallop of -15,,PERFECT STAR is unbeatable....on the same day Ruffina clocked the timing of -11......so although D.A is on Ruffina and out of form PSC is on PS,,I think the horse PERFECT STAR WILL DO IT ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY.......

@ JP

Alvarita, who finished second to Bourbon King in 2007, was owned by not Poonawallas or 'M.A.M.'.

Few years back Cyrus Poonawalla explained to media persons that they have instituted the PBMM race to give away the prize and trophy to the winner. They have not sponsoring the race to keep the prize and trophy with them. But what they can do if no other owners have a deserving winner and one of his horses wins the PBMM, like Our Excellency won?

Haunting Memories was owned by them along with Late.MAM. Actually the first three places went to MAM owned horses. It is not that they do not try but their horse fail in important races. Our Excellency owned by them and ridden by R.Moore was the favourite and was beaten by Bourbon King ridden by Colm O'Donoghue. So many horse of them with any trainer have flattered to deceive them. In Bourbon King race my friend lost the JP because his banker was Alvarita and lost a 50k betting on this horse which finished 2nd. He had a tip from stable 1 month before about Avarita.

For me it is Perfect Star, Ruffina and Angels Touch.

5 Phoenix Towers (common owner), 4 Excellent Arts, 2 from Kunigal Stud and one each from Nanoli, Ruia & perhaps Jai Govind.

Unless its a fair race, its quite unlikely that Ruffina would lose. PSC isn't at his best and that would mar any or all chances of Perfect Star.

Hi Shaps, Bro I Share The Same Concerns Az Yours About The Owners Of Ruffina.Rarest Of The Rare Time Their Well Backed Horses Win. That's Why I Said "If Tried Sensibly"

Your Second Point, I Am Not Very Sure, But I Think It Never Happened.

@ Shaps

The 1999 PBMM winner Her Excellency was owned by Poonawallas.

The problem is that the poonawallas do not allow their wards to run on merit.
This has happened on many occassions.

Can someone throw some light if they would take their own sponsored race ?????

Zeddzzz selections are perfect.

Purely based on pedigree, I feel Angels Touch and Autocratic are a cut above the rest, with Angels Touch having slightly better numbers, nevertheless, will decide after working out fractional timings.
