K.s.mandanna & Imran Champion's.

By Pkr | 22-Mar-2017

A decent MRC's season concluded today without any major issue's. Late Racing Legend's Trust becoming leading owners Trainer K.S.Mandanna & Joc A.Imran khan (ooty champion) were crowned champions. Its befitting Imram became Champion joc as he began his career here in Mrc riding For Mandanna .Siblings Trainer Ravinder & Rupa also began their careers with Mandanna. The season was very competitive with no nonsense approach of R.K Sirs team ensuring clean & fair racing.Jockeys from across the racing centres flocked Mrc to ride.Few positives of the season were after 22 years auction of yearlings were held .It was met with good response as per Newspaper report's. For classic races no complimentary passes were issued. For the 1st time running of South indian derby was advertised in FM radio.Transparency in racing incidents reported in the site .Erring professionals were suspended .Mock race comes back. Glitch free live streaming . Prospectus issued well in advance for Ooty & Chennai 17/18 season .Racing was competitive Out station horses won the classics .Joc Led by Veteran Imran ,Umesh,Brisson,Rupa, gave good competition to Psc, trevor etc.Imran retains championship .

Ooty will see the talented 3yo from Chennai taking on outstation horses . Ooty will have an exciting season as MRC has a talented mix of Young & experienced trainers .To name a few KSM,Iqbal,Uthaiah,Sebastian,Akbar M,RF & BS.Young trainers led by Fahad,Fazal,Kartik,Saddam etc.Hoping 2017/18 season is held on weekends rather weekdays . Kudos to the entire team of RK Sir .

Indeed a good season this year.Congratulations to Mandanna and A.Imran khan for their titles. We will see some tough competetion at ooty this time.I request MRC to restrict older horses to a particular season say Monsoon.Even at Hyderabad JP collections crosses 1 lac.Earlier it wouldnot be more than 40k.

I hope this time Ooty season far better than any other centers. bcoz Mysore trainers will bring classic potential to give a try at this c enter. Long back horses from Khatau's family brought their wards along with great Jockey Karl Umrigar. I think those days r returning back in this center. We used to visit race course in the early hours of around 6 Am to see horses tracking. had interactions with AB David, Jagadish,Karansingh, owners like NSSMandradiar,Woddlands ppls. Racing was truly sport those days. Now I smell the same things going to happen this season. I visited Ooty few days back and bookies are very liberal to give good odds like any other center. Rafa and Escala offered 4 to 1 at this center.Every one shd visit this center to enjoy racing you will feel as if you are in London Race course.MRC Staffs are doing their best to keep the track in good condition. Those days entire Admin staff from Chennai used to come to Ooty for 3 months and handle the course. now local ppls r managing with the guidance of Chennai staff. Dharma Ebnezar loved this Race course and he used to roam around the city with open Willys Jeep.

It's nice to read PKR's detailed report on the just-concluded Chennai Racing Season. K S Mandanna deserves kudos for emerging champion trainer, while A. Imran Khan knows this racecourse like the back of his hand and merits a lot of attention at Ooty too.

It gives a lot of relief to learn that the most beautiful and sprawling racecourse has relieved itself from the clutches of powers-that-be to regain public attention. If R K Sir and his team can continue to maintain the trend, I believe that very soon MRC will become one of the best racecourses in India. However, something has to be done to expand the stable facilities to accommodate more outstation horses.

Gone are the days when every race will start with a 26/100 favourite, most often decided a minute or two before the start of the race. Even place bets will come down to 1/2 money or less than that in a fraction of a second and there will be literally no interest left in racing. I have attended Chennai & Ooty racing for several years between 1990 and 2010, right from the days when jockeys C Krishnan and K Satheesh (now trainer in Hyderabad) used to exchange the winners freely among them, and R Foley and B Suresh - both a spent-force now - sharing almost all the races between them.

Although outstation horses won the Classics in Chennai this time, the few horses that came from the stables of Neil Darashah and Arjun Mangalorkar were brought in after a lot of persuasion. Let such a condition not prevail the next year, and we expect to see more number of horses participating in plum events.

I have decided to keep track of Ooty races, scheduled to start from mid-April, although I am firm not to bet on horses anymore.
