All sport loving ppls visit Ooty Race course, even they r there for picnic. I have seen lot of young couples visited race course and played bet on tote after seeing
horses in the paddock. they r not concerned abt favourite etc.they play just seeing horses. I am not sure or forgotten abt carson visit here. Barclay Corner were there. This is time I am sure Ooty Races par excellant then any other centers. All race goers pl. come and enjoy. only thing it is costly affair considering lodging etc. MAM used to lodge all his jockeys in his bunglow, and they will go in a Car to racecourse. so we used to ask the driver of the car whether any tips he got. but he told that none of those jockeys talked abt racing in the car. That was the time secret was maintained by all concerned. But today even handlers pass on information.

As far as Racing is concerned ability of the Horse is important not the owners whether Tamil nadu or Karnataka etc., If you want to win the Race well you can train your horse for the event. Consideration like local owners, trainers jockeys etc., will only spoil the races. Since MAM did not allow other owners to take the cups Madras race club fell down from its dignity and even today struggling to match strides with other club.

I still remember Trainer R.R. Byramjee taking his horses to ooty and International Jockeys like Willy Carson riding there

Best regards to all

SG,

The local owners who have carried on under the reign of MAM have now a fair chance to gain some returns on their investments. If these Western India Brigade descend here, it will be no different than the previous regime. As it is, they have cleaned out RWITC and looking for other cash rich clubs; It best for the MRC to keep these people out.

I am sure more and more local people will come forward now to invest in thoroughbreds and given a year or two MRC will be Number Uno. Just leaving it to blossom on its own will do.

Agree 100 % @ mad max, local owner will have it tough as they are not having regular participation. As mentioned rightly the top races will be taken by the outstation trainers and thus leaving the local owners far behind.also there should be more maiden 3 yr old races keeping in mind the vast number of horses picked up at madras auction under mrc rules. The local owners must be given more races & encouraged more..potential is there for MRC to become no 1 racing centre in the country.

looking at the weekend race card of mumbai with three and four horse races dominating the card clearly indicates that rwitc is no more the number one racing center in india infact it has dropped to the level of delhi race club.i rate chennai and ooty races lot higher than mumbai races so guys forget the mumbai races and get geared up for the exciting ooty races starting from 14th april.

@ Govindarajan

1. Why you think Vinesh and SS Shah come in the league of Leading trainers?
2. Ganapathy and his sons are hopeless trainers.
If Pesi or Narredu or Neil or Mangalorkar are invited to Ooty, it is not for ordinary races. They will bring their horses and take away the plum events. So what is the benefit of Tamil Nadu based owners?.

Most important things to do:

1. Asking established trainers to come with horses from other centers will kill the local owners. They hardly get time to participate regularly. Look at Kolkata races, Horses from Pesi, Narredu, Lagad are running there, but local trainers are deputising for them. What is the use and who is getting benefitted? So ask these trainers to persuade their Senior Assistant Trainers to go to Ooty and Chennai and start their innings there. Need of the hour is NEW TRAINERS, NEW BLOOD.

2. It is important to get the support of LEADING OWNERS, Vijay Shirke, Dhunjibhoy, Jaydev Mody, Vijay Mallya, Shapoor Mistry, Khaitans, Vijay Gupta, etc, at least two-three horses each from these stables. Mere their names will bring competition and punters to the racecourse. Without them Ooty and Chennai races can be nightmares. Need of the hour is FAMOUS OWNERS support.

THE pathetic race card over the week end shows how low MUM has sunk to.
South is slowly over taking MUM and will rule supreme.

The two teams responsible for this fiasco can than simply sit in the lounge and whistle. They will be playing scrabble among them selves

First it was CAL now Chennai, the writing is there on the wall.Next winter add Srilanka to it.

How long can they keep feeding this white elephant called RWITC.
