The Ooty Racing Season for the year is commencing in a few days from now (April 14). There has been so much talk around about the improvement in the standard of racing in Chennai ever since Mr. RK took over the reins. Naturally, the effects are to be shared by Ooty, too. But surprisingly there has been no write-up on the forthcoming season. Why so? Since almost all other racing centres will be enjoying holidays during the one-month period starting April 14, it will be a great thing if HT can arrange to give a detailed account on what to be expected during Ooty races, the trainers expected to visit from elsewhere, and
the horses that are likely to participate in the Classics. Could you please try it by tomorrow or so?

Hi MadMax,
It seems you have really taken pains to reprint here all that has been given in the official prospectus. But simply that's not I asked for.
What I want is a professional write-up by a popular personality like Major so that we get some idea about how the season is going to be.
It's more or less like the difference between a Text Book and a Guide. You have reproduced the Text here, but I look for the comprehensive Guide. Hope you got it.

Hi Mr Arvind,
I agree with you that even leading newspapers have totally ignored coverage of racing like in the early days. I remember 'The Hindu' allotting one full page for 'race reviews' on all Saturdays, and those reports alone would be enough to pick a winner next time. But sadly these days the same daily cares very little for race coverage. Why so? If at all there is one newspaper which continues to pay attention to racing it is only 'Times of India'. Hope more newspapers join the party, and help racing thrive in the days to come. But with so much 'wrong-doings' going on everywhere (up to the level of stewards), not many newspapers will be interested to consider it even as a sport. Maybe, that's why it has dropped to such low levels!

Those days are gone. Chennai and Ooty were the race club announce stake money
handicaps acceptances at very early. But nowadays it is all late. Even Ooty session briefing is still not announced. Those were days horses track report
used to publish in all news papers every day. Ooty and the race course remain same only the persons handling were changed for bad. If properly managed it could
be another big center like Pune. Hope let them work on it.
