SUB : ENQUIRY INTO JOCKEY G. AMIT’S INVOLVEMENT IN BETTING AND PASSING ON STABLE INFORMATION/TIPS TO PUNTERS FOR PERSONAL GAIN:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 5th April, 2017 interviewed Jockey G. Amit in the above connection and having heard him as also the Stipendiary Stewards, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey G. Amit and held him guilty of improper practice under Rule-101 (iii) & (iv) of the Rules of Racing of the Club wherein he admitted before the Stipendiary Stewards and the Stewards of the Club of passing racing information/tips to his friend/s on WhatsApp/ Facebook Messanger for monetary gains. (Further, scrutiny of his Bank Pass Book, revealed that certain cash deposits had been made into his account, three of which were cash deposits made from Hyderabad by the person he was in contact with and he confirmed at the meeting that these cash deposits were money received by him for having passed on racing information / tips and / or shares in bets.)
In view of the above, the Stewards of the Club were of the view that the above breach of Rule-101 (iii) & (iv) of the Rules of Racing warranted a punishment of Fifteen Calendar Months. However, keeping in mind that Jockey G. Amit was co-operative and forthcoming in the enquiry and had admitted his guilt, the Stewards of the Club took a lenient view and decided to impose on him a punishment covering Twelve Calendar Months. Therefore, his Jockey’s license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 20th April, 2017 till 30th April, 2017 and thereafter should he apply for a Jockey’s license it shall not be granted to him up to and inclusive of 19th April, 2018.
