At confused Punter,
There is absolutely no contradiction in what Transparency said and what others said.
My understanding was that the system splits the amount we bet in the ratio of 80:20, the 80 representing our bet and 20 being the tax (which is incidentally 25% of 80).
What the others say is from the amount we tender 20% will be deducted as tax and the remaining 80% will be considered as our bet. And they are telling that tax rate is calculated on the amount of our total risk.
No need for any research. Both statements are right. One team applying the tax rate on the amount the system considers as our bet AND the other team applying the tax rate on the total amount of our risk.
To put it in easiest words, one team says the difference between A & B is 20. The other team is saying the difference between B & A is 20.
And secondly whatever be the right or wrong interpretation, no one is under any extra loss or gain. I very much doubt whether there is any sales at fixed odds counter at the odds they are offering. At best there may be some takers on shp pool. And, they know what they will get for their risk. O K?

Dibakar:
It is simple mathametics,
For 50 invested 40 is the bet and 10 is the tax.
For evens return is 80.
Now 80 - 50 (original investment) = 30 which is 60% of your investment.
I do not see anything wrong in Transperancy's post except for instead of 20% he has mentioned 25%. Even if it is 25% then the figures will vary marginally, but the calculation method is the same, is it not ??
Please do some calculation before you post anything rash !!

Transparency, you are the biggest supporter of bookies representative.
Hope you are sponsoring adman of Anant Rai who conduct Fixed Odds betting at RWITC. Otherwise you should not have presented such a distorted picture of FOB betting.
Shame on you.
The maths or calculation is difficult to comprehend.
Shit on your face:
2) Rs 50 will have Rs 40 as ur bet multiplied by odds offered and Rs 10 viz 25% tax irrespective of any amountof bets So if u bet at Even ur return will b 40 plus 40 -80. For Rs 100 ur bet will b 80 plus 80- 160 and for Rs 2500 ur bet will b 2000 plus 2000 -4000 winning amount .In all case u get 60% return on Investment at odds Even.
COMPLETELY BAKAWAS as usual this man is now exposed himself as bookies man.

Transparency:
That was a clear explanation except for the error "Viz 25% tax" which should have read 20% as per your eg, 40+10, may be typing error, no problem. FOB understood finally, however, it is a headache Mum and Pun punters to deal with as well as the Management who have killed the tote.

The Real Punters who backs at Fix odds and Tote r scoffing on the Forum to have misleading Writers fooling themselves and convincing Bookies about their knowledge of being a punter without betting a dime on Tote or having played a single penny on half odds with tax offering FIx odds tote Operator .
I know that u guys have no interest in guiding the Newcomers or anything to do with real punters except fooling the helpless gullible at the behest of bookies and on sponsor cost ,hence My writing facts will b as usual in closet similiar to umpteen tips but then I blame the Sponsor for it rather than the Bookies Messengers trying to prove their proficiency in English rather than any Racing or handicapping knowledge of picking up Winners (Forget advance classic tips as they cant even Win VB).
Fix odds pattern
1)Rs 50 ,100,150 ,200 viz 50 multiplier deno so No question of any bet of 25 ,75 ,125 etc.

Well said Raghavan -racing has not effected your mind ,composed answer- others seem to be rattled when questioned!
Dibakar - your big write-up about 2500 bet on tote makes no sense - you are going into the exat amount which boils down to the same thing it was just an example by Raghavan- it would make a person nervous or crazy if he/she has to deal or talk with you!

@Dibakar,
I said this much. If you tender 2500, you will get bet slip worth 2000 and the remaining 500 will be the betting tax. According to you this is wrong.
If you want to bet 2500, then you have to tender 3125. According to you this is also wrong.
AND, ACCORDING TO YOU,
(1) this statement is correct. If you tender 1000, the system deducts 200 towards tax and issues bet slip of 800.
O K. You say I am wrong. Agree that you are right.. Mad max says I am misleading the punters. That also I agree. I will prefer to be wrong and misleading. If any punter suffers any loss because of my wrong and misleading statements, he is reassured that I will reimburse to him the extent of loss he has suffered because of that.
@Mad Max,
I have commented only regarding you boycotting this thread. My first line in the post says that. And whatever is said thereafter is only relates to what is said in the first line.
Your posting would have some meaning if I had not mentioned 'in this thread' in first line.
You said 'quitting the thread'.
I said whether you quit the thread or quit the site itself, no horsetalk member will care. same with me. If I quit the thread or quit the site no horsetalk member will care.
A schoolboy threatens his father. I will not take meals today if you do not buy me a cricket bat. Father says, why today alone? You do not take meals for the rest of the days. I will not buy you cricket bat.
It is like that. I thought that much simple meaning is evident when I first said in the first line quit the thread and in follow up said horsetalk site. Everything only regarding common sense. English language is that simple. If I had meant only 'site', then I would not have mentioned the 'thread' in first line. A post should be viewed and understood in totality. Not by taking one or two words out of context.
You say I am 'disgusting'. No problem to me. If I am disgusting, you do not invite me for coffee. If I am disgusting you do not accept my invitation for coffee.
So, I am ready. To discuss tax on fixed odds. In this thread or in any thread in this site. To discuss anything that I know or do not know. To you I am disgusting. Thanks. Same is the case with me. You are also disgusting to me. But, that is not your problem. If you are disgusting to me, the only option I am having is not to invite you for coffee. And not to accept invitation if you ask me to join you for coffee. Neither you, nor I have any right beyond that.

Raghavan Ji,
I am mute follower of this great site. If you are wrong accept it.
Mad Max has explained the FOB in its true perspective way. Except 5% excess tax cut what ever he said was correct.
You are looking at FOB in a bookmaker's point of view. First you said for 2500 risk, you will get 3300 because of 25% tax. He said for 2500 risk, you will get only 3094. And Mad max is correct if the tax cut is correct at 25%.
You further said that if you want to bet 2500, then you have to tender 3125, out of which 2500 will be your bet & 625 is your tax. THAT IS ALSO WRONG.
YOU CANNOT DICTATE AT FOB COUNTER. If you give 3125 rupees at FOB counter and say 2500 is my bet and 625 is my 25% tax, they will not accept your version of bet. Instead the man at FOB counter will put the entire amount you handed over to him i.e. Rs. 3125 as your gross bet in their system, then the system will deduct their tax+commission on 3125 @ 25% or 20% whatever it is (for the maths purpose, we are not arguing the tax rate, imagine it is 25% itself). They will deduct 781/- (NOT 625/-). And the balance amount Rs.2344 will be recorded as your bet. You are still in coma and thinking FOB will punch 2500 as your bet. That is futile thinking.

I said I will not write any comments "UNDER THIS THREAD". It does not mean that I am quitting from Horse Talk. I thought Raghavan must have that much common sense to understand what I written in simple English. This guy is disgusting and interpreting simple language to suit him better. I am helpless.

Thanks to some knowledgeable persons here, we have learnt what is the correct position about fixed odds. That much is sufficient.

You said this is my last post on this thread. Just understand this much.
Raghavan & Mad max are not the only two who interact in this site. If you stopped writing and watch the tv sitting in the house, horsetalk will not bother. If I quit writing and watch tv sitting in the house, then also horsetalk will not be in anyway bothered. No one is indispensable.
There may be too many who think that what they say is 100% correct.
So if such persons say they will not post, neither horsetalk team nor the members who are interacting will worry too much about that. Of course 2 or 3 members out of courtesy may suggest that the decision be reconsidered, but if the person concerned stands by what he said, then they will also stop further postings in that line.

@Mad max,
The fixed odds shown for Cambridge is 65ps.
First I said for 2500 risk, you will get 3300 because of 25% tax.
You said that the calculation is wrong. And said out of 2500 only 1875 qualifies as bet.
Then I said for 2500 risk you will get 2000 worth tickets and 500 which is 25% of 2000 will go towards tax.
I even said that if you want to bet 2500, then you have to tender 3125, out of which 2500 will be your bet & 625 is your tax.
So, I have stated that according to my understanding, what the bet component and what the tax component in fixed odds bet is.
In my next posting also I said only this much.
"The question is, if I tender 2500 to a fixed odds counter what will be the bet component and what will be the tax component.
I am of the firm opinion, that bet amount is 2000 and tax is 500.
You are equally confident that bet amount is 1875 and tax is 625.
Either you are right or I am right.... Let us sign disagreement at this stage. Case can be reopened as and when the correct data is posted from a person who has purchased a ticket from that counter.
I never said I am right. All I said is either I am right or you are right. Because I have not backed even 100/- at Mumbai tote, let us wait for a person based at Mumbai to give the correct position.
I am happy. That the horsetalk members have conveyed the correct position.
All the wrong and inappropriate words that you have used has not been accepted and are returned to the sender.

@Buddy,
You say roulette is more fair of the two. I will say this much.
The fixed odds tote gives you the facility to bet at certain odds. From your bets 80% amount will qualify for odds, the remaining 20% goes to the club/tax. Pools allowed win, shp, place. Odds are displayed. It is for you to apply your mind and decide whether to bet or skip. No compulsion.
I do not see anything unfair. Your grievance may be right. High tax, low odds compared to regular bookies etc. But the point is you are under no compulsion to bet at fixed odds. Bet at the general tote if you feel that gives higher profit, or bet with bookies if they give higher returns. To bet or not to bet your decision. Whether 100/- or 15k, it is also your decision.
The terms and conditions are heavily against the punters. Can not help that. People are buying sjp tickets. Though the taxation is 35% + 20%, that is 55%.
I buy treble tickets. I am happy if I clear 1 treble in a week. Even though I know very well that out of 10k sales, only 5500 will be distributed to successful punters.
At present, the controversy is what is the present day rules & procedure while betting at fixed odds counter. From your risk, how much will qualify as bet and how much will be charged as tax/commission. Thanks to you, Chanakya, Pradeep, Confused P, Golden Girl etc who spared valuable time & participated in this debate.

@Golden Girl,
The amount you tender at fixed odds counter will be split in the ratio 80:20, 80 representing the bet and 20 the tax.
I said what I believed is right. Confuse Punter said more or less the same thing that I said. Now, one Mr Pradeep has spoken. Happy that I stood by my version.
@Pradeep,
Thanks for your clarification.
@Mad Max,
As desired by you, one Pradeep has clarified the procedure being followed at Pune, Mumbai.
So whatever you wrote in the post to me are not accepted and returned to the sender.
@Pradeep,
Thanks for your clarification.
@Mad Max,
As desired by you, one Pradeep has clarified the procedure being followed at Pune, Mumbai.
So whatever you wrote in the post to me are not accepted and returned to the sender.

Guys and one Gal - Just calculate with roullete betting 38 numbers you get 35 to 1 - plus your beting amount back - if you get 37 to 1 and you bet equal amount on all numbers it becomes a no-loss no=profit situation.
When Matka was operational in mumbai I did play on the phone and the den it was approx little more then 9 to 1 on 10 numbers -net what you got there was little more then 8 to 1 . So Roullette becomes more fair between the two but also a very very fast paced game.
Outside bookies take a difference of 10 to 15 percent between a play and lay bet-you can play at even get 1000 for 1000 or lay at 11/10 get 1000 -lose 1100 if horse wins.
On tote if 20% tax is deducted at source and you have only one option[cannot lay] then odds wise it becomes very un-fair for Punter's,too taxing, also maybe low/wrong odds for win!

Fixed odd betting(FOB) is a mirage, a clever deception to fool the RWITC punter and is being run by ONLY ONE bookmaker...
It never gives better returns on fav or second favorite, may sometime, give on other runners -over the tote...
The deductions is 20% not 25%. A 100 rupees bet on even money favorite will return a punter only a total amount of Rs. 160 - odds of 60/100 and not odds of even... net gain 60%
On the other hand a punter will receive Rs. 200 from a bookie when he pays Rs. 110 or 130(full tax)...
Calculate the BENEFIT BY BETTING WITH BOOKMAKERS...

@ Raghavan,Whatever amount one bets at Fixed Odds,the tax amount is deducted on your total bet first and the rest is considered your bet amount.Many punters are also not aware of the fact,that Fixed Odds counter at tote was started by bookies at Mumbai,and they were taking the profit or loss.At present I do not know what is the scenario,whether it is still operated by bookies or the club is operating now?

@ Mad Max/raghavan,
In Pune/Mumbai, if you bet in fixed odds with tote amount of Rs.1000.00, your tax is deducted Rs.200.00 & yr bet is Rs.800.00 at the odd available on PC monitor at that moment.
Say you bet at an odd of 2:1( Rs.1000.00) your payout( if successful) will be Rs.800.00 X 2= 1600.00 + your bet Rs.800.00= Rs.2400.00.
Hope that's clear.

Don't try to become an expert and make others fool.
I have played several times at the FOB in the initial days when the tax cut was 10%. So don't compare you with me. It is foolishness from your part to think FOB rules are similar to bookmakers. Don't mislead punters.
In FOB whatever amount you tender, be it 10000, 5000 or any amount the software is configured in such a way, the ticket issued to you will show 25% deduction first, and the remaining amount will show as your bet at the displayed odds. If you dont believe this and stick to your formulae I have no problem certain guys wont change. It is surprising No Horse Talkers from Mumbai or Pune are coming out to clear your doubt.

@Mad Max,
The question is, if I tender 2500 to a fixed odds counter, what will be the bet component and what will be the tax component.
I am of the firm opinion that bet amount is 2000 and tax will be 500.
You are also equally confident that the bet amount is 1875 and tax 625.
Either you are right or I am right. I presume you have not purchased any ticket at the fixed odds counter. I am happy that I am in good company. I have also not purchased a single ticket at that counter so far.
Let us sign the disagreement at this stage. Case can be reopened as and when when the correct data is posted here from a person who has purchased a ticket from that counter.

Not only me, Chanakyajee,
Evidently you are also addicted to internet/computer and carefully go though all my postings and find fault and take grand pleasure in exposing that. Your stamina in such an exercise is not having any parallel. And I am happy that my posts are read & analysed at least by one person.
If I ask a third person to do home work you fault that. How many times do you want to hear from me that I am a man of zero knowledge.
Why I ask a third person to post the calculations such as opening bet, odds, returns, closing balance? Because I have zero knowledge about that also.
I post some rubbish and desire that x, y or z who is also a person with same level of knowledge as that of mine and who is also equally equally addicted to internet/computer to advertise his level of zero knowledge and I am happy that you are not belying my expectation/s.
Well. Apology? To whom? You said 28%. And is that right? A good number of people in the punting business were worried about the possibility of 40% tax. I am one among them. You and some others were of the opinion that it will be only 28%. So, those who say 40% are spreading disinformation as much as those who said 28%. No one knows what will be the tax levy. Whether it will be 18% or 28% or 40% will be known only when the rulings are released by the concerned Ministry.
I openly declare my zero understanding. You do not. Makes no difference.
Hamam mein sab......
Everybody is clear in one aspect only. That it will be status quo till June 30, 2017. Only thereafter, the GST will be implemented as per the directions of the Government. And only then everyone will have a clear understanding whether the new taxation policy will be better or worse from the punter's point of view
I am very much interested to entertain the horsetalk members by writing wrong things regarding every aspect under the SUN. Evidently you are also equally interested in finding fault in my postings and I am extremely happy about that. Among horsetalk members, there are some select knowledgeable persons who spare their valuable time to read whatever rubbish I write.
Among your many pastimes, one is faulting whatever I write in this site. And, my pastime is to expose anyone who come and post their millions profit.
Apology? Not expressing apology is much better than making oneself a laughing stock. From your side it was first 1000 to one million. Thereafter it was 2200 to one million. And when that claim also was demolished then maintaining silence. Horsetalk members are quite intelligent to work out the bets and returns when odds are known.
Your charge that I disappear without an apology or regret if caught on wrong foot is equally applicable in your case also. So far I have not seen any expression of regret or apology from your side when your million profit claim was confronted by intelligent individuals.
You said that first I said 40% and then when confronted by intelligent individuals, I started singing a different tune of 18%.
From your side I have noticed that, when your claim of 3.28 lakhs was confronted by intelligent individuals, then you also started singing a different tune that it could be 3,28,000 or 4,23,00 or 2,80,000.
You are welcome to make a big issue of my goof ups. But, just understand that your track record also is no way better.

Fixed Odds Calculation:
Bet Amount
2500/-
Tax Rate
25% (When FOB started the tax was 10%, later it increased to 20%, now it is 25% I think)
So Tax Amount
625/- This is the amount FOB machine automatically deduct from the amount tendered by the punter and the balance amount will be punched as your legal investment/bet.
Your net bet:
1875/-
Odds
0.65
Remember if you punched a sizeable amount, say 2000 or 3000 per ticket and asked the counter man/girl to repeat it 8 times (8 tickets) you will get same odds "probably" in all tickets. If someone take more tickets @ 65 ps from other FOB counters, they will reduce the odds immediately. So there is a chance you get lesser odds than promised at the beginning. If you repeat the tickets more than 8 times the odds will come down to 0.60 or 0.55 paise and there is a chance this latest odds will be reflected in your excess tickets.
You Gain @ 65 ps
1875 @ 0.65 = 1219 (rounded up)
Total Gain
Real Bet 1875 + Profit 1219 = 3094
Net Profit when you take a risk of 2500 @ 65 ps
3094 - 2500 = this 594 is your net profit.
Return of Investment/Real Odds at FOB counters.
594*100/2500 = 23.75 paise only.
FOB betting counters and CCTV display odds 0.65 paise, instead they cheat and pay only 23.75 paise against a Rupee, this is day light robbery in the name of FOB betting.
With bookies you will get following amount:
2500 x 0.65 = 1625 Gain + 2500 Inv = Total 4125
You play with bookies and pay them 250 (10% tax) and bookies will pay you Rs. 4125/-
Profit with FOB
3094 - 2500 = 594
Profit with bookies
4125 - 2750 = 1375
I request race goers dont venture out to bet on FOB.
You better go and tour the Chambhal forests
wahan ka daaku FOB se kam lootega tumhe.

His greatest adventure was to start howling that GST will be 40% and 10% club's commission. When confronted by intelligent individuals , he ran away and is now singing the tune of 18% WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT EXACTLY WILL BE THE GST ON RACING!
FOOLS JUMP IN WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD - a live example...

My understanding is that if you want to bet say 2000 with the bookies, you pay 2000 + 500 (25% tax). The card will reflect X/2000 where X is the odds or corresponding cash.
If FOBs are similar to ring bookies, here also it should be the same. If they are calculating in reverse like you have explained, then it is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY, NOTHING LESS. WHO IS PLAYING WITH THEM ?? REAL PATHETIC SCENARIO.

Either you are right or I am right. Let us leave the issue at this. With the fixed odds facility prevailing only at rwitc, and not too many takers there also, it does not matter one way or other even if I am wrong.
One thing that is clear is fixed odds counter is worse than even the general counter at Mumbai.

I presume you are a man of unorthodox habits and liberal mindset. My heartiest congratulations for being a winner from races.

The calculation I shown earlier is correct.
If you intend to play and tender 2500 at the counter, they deduct 25% directly on tendered amount, i.e. 625/- and the balance 1875 shall be mentioned as your bet on the ticket. In other words: Your Bet 1875 + Tax Cut 625 = is 2500 your tendered amount. In return you will get Rs. 1875 @ 65 Ps + 1875 the bet amount. All Mumbai and Pune punters know this.

@Mad Max,
I think I am right. But can not say that with confidence as I have not played any bet at fixed odds. The problem is even a Mumbai based punter may not be betting at fixed odds counter because of low returns. Anyway, I give below what is my understanding.
Say you tender 2500 on Cambridge at the fixed odds counter. You will get tickets worth 2000 only. (500 which is 25% of 2000 being the tax). And at 65ps, your returns is 3300.
(So if you desire to bet 2500, then you have to pay 3125, out of which 2500 will be your bet & 625 is the tax).
You fear that btc may start fixed odds like MUM. Why worry? You see Mysore started exacta pool. Not many takers. Same will be the case if they implement the fixed odds here or Mysore.
The real worry for BNG/MYS punters should be gst. You can see the article "18% gst could..." by doorstep.

Your calculation is wrong on Fixed Odds Betting.
If the tax cut is 25% and if you are playing 2500 @ 65 Ps, Fixed Odds calculation at RWITC is as below:
25% tax calculated and removed from the betting amount 2500 first. Remaining amount (less tax) shall be punched @ 65 Ps.
i.e. Rs. 625 deducted from 2500, balance 1875 @ 65 paise = 1219, plus your investment 1875, so total RETURNS Rs.3094 only. So anyone playing 2500 on fixed odds @ 65 getting only 594 Rs extra (24% profit).
FIXED ODDS IS THE WORST TYPE OF BETTING IN THE WORLD.
NOW A DAYS BTC IS ALSO SHOWING RWITC FIXED ODDS BETTING ODDS ON CCTVS HERE, I FEAR THESE PEOPLE WILL IMPLEMENT IT AT BTC FROM SUMMER MEETING, IF SO THAT IS REALLY TRAGIC FOR THE PUNTERS.

@Goldman cayabyag,
95ps for Cambridge? That is a very good odds. As per the fixed odds displayed at cctv it was 65ps at Mumbai.
Because of 25% tax for fixed odds bet, you would have got 3300 for 2500 risk. But at 95ps I think you benefited to some extent at least.
Today Delhi. Good luck.

Buddy-Many thanks buddy.Hope you had a good day at races,(by laying)as many favourites failed miserably.
@ Champ,thanks for your wishes.Cambridge was a very popular choice.I did not give,cause I do not play Maiden races and that to at such low odds.Maiden races are very tricky.Just see what happened in the fourth race.Orient Bolt won paying Rs. 632 at the tote.In Eternal Sunshine race there were only seven runners,and about five horses were being tipped by various punters.So joy of picking a winner is more ,when ones selection obliges,besides reasonable odds.
@Raghavan,I have been reading all your answers in various topics,and I must say that your energy and stamina is tremendous.You call a spade a spade,and that is a great quality you have.
@Goldman,Thanks for your kind words.I will try giving my best selections.

@Champ,
Let us not compare any tipster with any other tipster.
GG had taken a long leave and has resumed very recently. And she has given her choice in one race. The choice whether a single one or a favorite is immaterial. The only thing that counts is whether the choice won or not. If won, send one line greetings as Buddy has done. OR just forget.
Regarding the person you are referring to also, let us restrict expressing our disbelief, reservations only if & when some preposterous post race claims appear in this site.
Regarding hatching millions, I am having a firm belief that it is not possible.
Race no-1, the favorite ridden by Sandesh lost. The horse must be aiming for some kind of a guinness record as second horse specialist.

G.G. has been good more often than not in selections. But there's a major flaw.She doesn't know to hatch her millions. Else she would have also known that near certainty of the day was Cambridge & she had Eternal Sunshine shining on her. All she had to do like other learned gentleman , was to open a topic & post Race 1, 4, 5, 6 favourites may lose & Race 2,3 favourites will win. Then start with a roll of 15k, post end of races & reach a million. @ Raghavan, please correct me if I m wrong in calculations. Race 2 favourite was at 18/10 & Race 3 at 60/100.
