Back to listsSuspicious Ride On High Admiral
By Dustin Torry | 15-May-2017
Bangalore May 14, Race no 3 : The Quasar Plate
Jockey A Ashad Ashbar Failed to Make sufficient efforts to give High Admiral Full opportunity to win. The horse was moving well and should have won the race but he didnot whip the horse and lost by a neck to Astrild. Was a terrible ride and seemed intentional. This sort of things happen too often in racing.
Will the jockey be banned for Dodgy ride ?
What about the punters who lost their hard earned money ?

16-May-2017Hold your horses all wise men fighting here.
As per BTC report- HA was impounded for veterinary exam.after the race & found to have EPIH,Grade-IV.This horse will not run till trainer shows fitness certificate.
At the same time BTC will conduct a enquiry in the running & riding of HA with the trainer & jockey. With the first report, may be the trainer & jockey will get escape route & nothing will happen. Asbar will reply that he didn't whip the horse as it bled & trainer will concur.

16-May-2017He made the horse to run wide all the way just to show everyone he was improving positions but he was hoping the horse to lose everything it had by giving such a horrible ride.after entering the straight jockey got his shock when high admiral never looked like slowing down,so the jockey did his best to lose the race.
This is what I understood from viewing the video several times, people can correct me if am wrong.
By the way am not talking from my pockets,my bet was on Granada place.
Thanks

For a while it was clean writing but too good to last. Some just cannot let go of their habits
One writer says ''SOme need to get their eyes checked and ears tested''.
He is silent about him self
So god only help if a fav loses. One owner very cearly stated.
We buy a horse, spend money on horses for our selves and not the racing public.those who do not like it stay at home.

16-May-2017Question here is not whether High Admiral was fevorite or not, question is not how i selected/expected the horse to win.. Question is whether horse was given proper ride or not... I feel Asbar rode to lose. I don't call it cribbing.

16-May-2017get your facts right before you comment....it lost 2 lengths at the start according to the commentator...
if cribbing is the birth right of punters..whats yours????
hmm may be seeking for attention by making unwanted comments....get a life

16-May-2017One writes this, and other's simply copy-cat it.
The horse lost only about 1 to 1 1/2 lts at the most at the start. It covered this in the first 100 to 200 metres itself. It is there for everybody to see.
Within the first 300 metres ,it was in the centre of the bunch of horses and in very good position to strike, not lagging behind.
It was in front and ahead and Astrild.
Astrild overtook and was leading in the last 200 metres. At 150 metres, High Admiral was in third position and was started flying and overtaken the other horse. When in the last 50 to 60 metres, when it was about to overtake Astrild, it was checked and pulled a bit from over-taking Astrild. Thus it lost a certain win.
Just because it was a third favourite, it does not mean that it cannot win or should not win.
Hope some get their eye's tested or their ear's cleaned / checked up.
This is a clear case of not allowing a horse to run on it's merit.

15-May-2017First on what basis did you expect H. AD to win.It was the 3rd fav.no great past record.
Any horse which loses 4to 5 lts will find it very hard to win.
A new trainer has clearly not prepared the horse that well.
So there is no end to it if we keep debating on 3rd favs in long odds 4s to win !
If ASTRLID had lost every one would have been gunning for Srinath [it closed as jt fav with trevors horse].
It reminds me of LATE lok nath bal ganadhar tilaks famouse saying .
''Swaraj mera janam sidh adhikar hai or uske him leke rahenge[said during Indias freedom struggle] now. == Punters
''Cribbing is my birth right and will carry on doing it''

15-May-2017It is not the Jockey nor the Trainer, but the Owner/s who should be pulled up and their horses should be banned from racing for a period of time. See Trevor's ride on Arvak against A. General owned by Sultan Singh, did anyone raise even a fig of a doubt ??
Punters should be aware of strong Owners who can have their way (all the other horses are non-triers), strong trainers who win even without informing the owners, and Jockeys who win or pull against the trainers or owners wishes.

15-May-2017Watching a number of times the video, one see's clearly that the jockey pulled his horse and did his best to not win the race. Objections not raised by anyone does not mean that the race was fair. Collusions and understanding's between connections are well known to one and all.
Hope these wrongful acts are stopped right at this stage itself.
Stringent punishments must take place, for the racing public to regain confidence in this sport.
Hope the authorities do their duty without fear or reason.

15-May-2017There will not be any punishment to AA, because Astrild moved better in last part.

15-May-2017Secondly it was the 3rd fav Had AR. . lost we would have seen the same comments regarding AR and srinath.
A horse loses 4 To 5 lts at the start, will find it very tough to win.
We seem to assume that horses are pulled either by the jockey or on trainers instructions.
In BNG days tips of the day, one gentleman very confidently predicted that Attorney General will be pulled .Rest is history.
Today scene has changed and I find all races were run on merit on Sunday WHY.
Simple every one wants to win even a horse at .30/100!

15-May-2017Yes it was slowly off but still easily improved and at striking position at home strech. Jockey did not move a muscle till winning post still the horse managed to finish on so well. No ned to whip, if the horse was just pushed a little then would have won easily.
@ SFP
Please watch the video carefully. Can u really say that jockey tried his best on the horse.

15-May-2017The horse was slowly off losing few lts . this makes a lot of difference
It was not the piping hot fav, but in good odds and place bet paid rs 19 shows odds 4to 5s [I did not see them].
Pray tell me than why should any jockey pull it?
In any race where I find 3to 4 horses in 3s to 4s and fives i skip.
Here the second fav won

15-May-2017Astrild drifted out
see the video Astrild was on railing and in last 50 meters drifted out and was coming on to High Admiral.
Due to which animal not gave the proper spurt in the last moment.
