If no bookies means no black money generated but they would operate in different ways. Maybe the cutters are the real unemployed. Cutters will have to learn new skills!

@Bobby,

What is your argument. Should we protest at the attitude of BTC & MyRC for ot allowing the bookies thereby rendering the bookies' assistants job less.

I am also sympathetic. But, not to the extent of requesting the BTC/MyRC to reconsider the decision. Let those who are unemployed because of the move by two turf clubs do search for new jobs. they are not the only people unemployed.

In UP applications were invited for the 368 posts of peon. From Phds to post graduates to engineers to gaduates to metriculates 23 lakh applications were received. The minimum qualification as per the advertisement was 5th standard pass.

You say public are also equally responsible. I prefer to not to speak about the punters. If bookies had said bet only in accordance with the BTC/MyRC rules, they would have fallen in line.

The MyRC, has taken the right decision. Though belatedly. In the first place, it should not have accommodated those bookies who were shown the exit door by btc management. Having done that, MyRC has lost some sheen while not giving license now and has definitely lost some good will. But, I welcome the scenario of bookie less race course. Of course I am well aware that those who are loyal customers to the bookies are in too big numbers and a very small fraction of the punters only prefer tote.

Lalwaniji, who is opening the odds, a night before racing day for Bangalore races, since the last couple of months ?????

Well, I think you get the answer.

Similarly, odds are opened at few other centres.

Looking for the day with no bookmakers in racecourse and reasonable taxation system. Most of the small punters are salaried class who have already paid taxes. The Givt shoukd go after the clubs who shield these bookiies for black money from big time punters. The establishment should crack down on illegal systems and not kill a sport.

bookies are not alone cheating the government of half tax, punters are also equally responsible for even they do keep 10% of the purposed 20%.
This happens under the supervison of the clubs.
by not allowing bookies they have created unemployment of so many people who use to work(staff) for the bookies.there are lot of families depended on bookmakers,
which is a big loss

The bookies wanted concessions to off shoot 28% GST The club refused.

Let me see punters paying 28% from 4 % from jul. 01 and survivng in tote.

In fact barring MUM nd Del.bookies cannot work.I llegal bookies will take over racing simple the punters want it.

Still some are sounding hope on the exact effect of GST on tote.

Racing will carry on regardless of any thing

Guys I am not in favour of bokkies but still I feel they should be there the reason being the difference in the odds.If a 14/10 horse wins the divident tote is paying is 18rs and that's a big difference with the net price as well. We r in a loosing streak even if the horse wins and just imagine after gst coming in to play the same horse would pay 15rs.so god bless the punters

@Ramesh,

Let bookies do their business outside race course; or at their residence / office. Let the customers loyal to the bookies continue their betting with them.

That is not at all a problem to me.

Let them not enter the race course as licensed bookies and indulge in cheating the club/government by their 10% tax. That is sufficient to me.

Several punters have expressed their shock and anger at this move by Mysore stewards. They have no option as of now. Inside the race course, they have to bet only at the tote; or buy snacks/rice, watch cctv etc. If the tote pay out is pittance, so be it. Betting or not betting is your decision.

It is a pleasant surprise to hear such news. The Mysore stewards first accommodated those who made all out effort to resume their business at BTC but were totally ignored by BTC. Now, they have given marching orders to the bookies. I welcome such moves. But that does not mean I support stewards. NOW SOU (900) CHUHE KHA KE BILLIE CHALIE HAJ.

Friends,

If bookmakers do not operate in horseracing, it's not the end of the world!

In US,Japan, Hongkong, etc there are no bookmakers operating, yet the betting turnover through tote only..is mind-boggling with zero instances of fixing etc.

It's a win win situation both for punters and the race clubs.
Let's follow their business models instead.

Odds are generally available through online/international bookmakers..which could also be replicated in our context.

So let's wait for this evolution to take place in our country, as well.

Cheers!

4 or 5 bookies applied for licneses at Mysore last season and were granted the same. On a rider they will not start back operations if BTC Start. Now they have lost the advantage by MRC decisons which is good. But still bookies operate outside for they set of punters. Now the question is how do punters know what the odds of horses are. How to other centres bookies open and change odds.

The clubs are digging their own graves.

Hyderabad club was looting the punters in and out., in many ways.
Now, it's their turn, to pay the bill.

Big players will never play at the totes in big amounts, and expect a meagre pay-back. They would rather play some other game or forget racing. And the clubs cannot run in profits with the addicted poor and lower class people. Their ill-gotten ideas and ill-thought out plans to follow the Bangalore way of only operating through the totes and closing down the bookies will now hurt them severely.

Now, the clubs can only operate if bookies are allowed , with their half tax. If not, the funeral bells will start ringing for them.

As per the GST, bookies have to charge 28% tax (may be plus club commission). If followed strictly, playing with bookies looses it charm for the punters. The onus will fall on the club to see that no bets are accepted at 10%. So may be the Club made a wise decision to not grant license to avoid the headache of playing vigilantes.

Mrc has not renewed the bookmakers licence for this season. . . . .They have issued the notice to the bookmakers to stop the operation . . . . After Bangalore mrc has also stops the bookies operation . . . . . It will affect the punters heavily bcoz we should play without knowing the odds and wat ever tote pays we should depend on that. . . . . May god save punters . . . . .After gst effect I thought tat btc and mrc have learnt the lesson but this both club are going in their way . . . . . Lets how long they can go after July 1st. . . . .
