Who Can Continue Punting & Who Can Quit?

By Rbp | 26-May-2017
If you can find correct answer for the following, you can continue punting, otherwise quit.

Two horses A and B ran with 56 and 54.5 kgs respectively on their back. A finished 20 lengths behind B. After 25 days, they participated again, with 57.5 (A) and 53 (B) kgs on their back. No change in other conditions, i.e, same jockeys, same distance, same venue. Now which horse will be ahead and which will be behind?

If you answer with confidence (not may be or with luck etc.,) that A will finish ahead of B, you can continue punting, otherwise quit

A is MEGESTHENES (Vaibhav up) and B is CERRADO (Sandesh

That makes sense Subbu, but your original sentence,

"One who does not bet the amount that he has afford to loose"

was not clear, so I substituted "has" with "cannot" and loose was a spelling mistake, so "lose."

Whatever, a precise approach to punting !!

This event was the stewards cup and all connected accomplished their task as planned followed by a double from the same stable.... this is how you need to train yourself to be a good punter.......and not think as per merit or logic....

Simple answer for all punters
You have to accept everything from race course committee, trainers, jockey, horse, gates, changes of shoes, start left etc etc etc
They are having 1000 formula to pull the horse and to win the horse OK so u must be ready to everything and get in to race ok

@ Confused P
Let me explain point no 7
If you bet the amount that you can afford to loose then you will be taking higher risk.
On the other hand you will exert more care to safegurad your investment...
Hope I am clear

Subbu: your 8 points formula is the best. Hardly 1% of the punters will/can follow.

@RBP
Take Mysore race on 24.05.2017
Race !
AlDhama won by 2 3/4 length ahead of Vroom Vroom
Earlier in Race no 118 Al Dhama was 12L behind Vroom Vroom.

WHO must stay in racing
1. One who has the control not to play all races
2. One who play in one center on dual center days
3. One who can walk out the moment the targeted profit is achieved
4. One who persists with a system for a long time
5. One who believes that learning is a continues process
6. One who plays only the horses that he has already planned
7. One who does not bet the amount that he has afford to loose
8. One who takes racing as his business....

Dear Mr.Newface,
what you told is the exact truth. whether anyone accepts this or not- this is the reality.
I entered into racing in 1975. That time in Mysore the betting tax was 10% for offcourse races ( I mean full betting tax ) ( and 12.5% for on course races ). There were substantial number of punters who could be put into the category of small/medium/big punters.( whose volume of betting would be roughly 500-1000/ 1000-2500 / 2500-5000 )More than 90 % of these punters wouldnt mind paying with 10% tax and placing their bets. There were very few punters who would fall in the category of heavy punters ( 25000/50000/1,00,000 category.. really very few )- only these would opt for coded bets ( which would attract 5% tax )- Hence the leakage in terms of betting tax not reaching the club and Govt was substantially very less.Hence Bookmakers would also put a good amount to the coffers of the club and Govt ( over and above the tote).
As and how the value of money went on decreasing and the percentage of tax has gone on increasing, there is a change in the scenario. Previously who were playing medium have become big punters/ who were big punters earlier have become heavy punters. ( how long they have been able to survive is a different issue ) How do you expect a punter who plays 25,000 or 50000/- to pay 25% tax and survive for long ?( the matter doesnt end at paying betting tax- if any gain after winning > 10000, he will have to pay income tax also if the whole bet is shown in the sheet!!!) So Both the bookmakers as well as punters have come to an understanding to share this tax benefit in the mutual interest. ( My presumption is if betting tax were not to have increased to 25%- 30% as of now from the previous 10% probably we wouldnt have reached this stage)... ( this is only my presumption.. may be I am wrong in this presumption)
In terms of giving back to the punters after collecting the tax- OK the club will spend in improving the infrastructure, maintaining the racecourses and organizing everything to conduct fair racing.(????) What does the Govt to do to the punters, in terms of giving back to the punters after collecting such heavy taxes??? ( other than giving permission to run the races )
Coming to Mr.Raghavan's point that Bookmakers have looted the tax and are responsible for the present scenario.. I feel punters are also equally responsible. Bookmakers dont fix up races.. its normally the people who fix up races approach the bookmakers to get the booty in their favour and bookmakers just flow with the tide. ( In this situation, can we really interpret that bookmakers have spoiled racing by fixing up races? ) Raghavan sir, your point that bookmakers have looted the tax ( with an indirect consent from the club ) is very much valid.. I fully agree with you. No second thoughts. But I still feel that the whole scenario has reached this stge/ messed up only because of the steep increasing in the percentage of tax.

don't worry sir, present GOI will vanish horse racing so every one will quit racing.

when demonetisation happened i conveyed the benefits to my family members and relatives, whatever knowledge i had. but never expected GST to be 28% on horse racing. if government Keep 10% tax then everyone may pay, as taxes goes higher everyone will make black money.

I may be also one them in future

RBP, The question is wrongly framed, the handicaps allotted are not correct in the second instance. In any case at least the question should be framed logically. Waste of time and space.

In racing. especially in Chennai, Mysore and Ooty, all this TAMASHA is possible.
That is the reason many seasoned punters understand the connections, and stay away from these centres. It's only the addicted, in-experienced and also the informed, who go to play at such centres.

It's like, I will let you win today, and you let me win after a week or so.

Are you new to the above three centres racing ?????
