Back to listsA Wake Up Call To All In The Racing Industry
By Cyber Cop | 06-Jun-2017
Nothing will happen to any of the BTC members if the racing won't go through. They are not dependent on racing to make a living.
Nothing will happen to any of the punters they will move to other centers to continue their hobby of losing the money.
Nothing will happen to owners as they can move their horses under any trainer on any other center and race them there.
Those who are going to suffer is the 800 odd daily wage workers under BTC. Daily wagers of BTC had lost 3 days of work due to rain in May and 4 days of work because of the non issuance of license in June. As of Monday night the license was not issued to the BTC. So I am expecting the lokjam to continue. Its a shame that in order to protect his vested interest the Cheif Minister of a state is depriving common man his right to earn a living.
Government of Karnataka earns around Rs 200 crore a year by taxes from BTC. More than that BTC pays a sum of RS 60000/- per race day to conduct on and off course betting. Who will take responsibilty for the loses to the exchequer.
I am wondering why the Chief Minister want to increase the membership of BTC by 150 more half being government nominees. We punters are already fed up of the existing members of the BTC who deprive us of the magnifient view of the race track by restricting the most important galleries of the BTC for themselves.
Here I am mentioning a case pending aganist The Chie Minister before Lokayuktha published in Times Of India.
“The chief minister Sri S Siddaramaiah is the sole authority in the state government empowered to nominate members to the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd. After nominating Sri L Vivekananda as a member to the managing committee / steward to the Bangalore Turf Club, the chief minister has entered into monetary transaction and availed loan of INR 1,30,00,000 from the same individual Sri. L Vivekananda on 28.07.2014 (sic),â€
“This is in stark contrast to rules, regulations and guidelines being set by the central government with regard to do’s and don’ts for people’s representatives. The code of conduct for chief ministers / ministers being issued by the union home ministry clearly states that – ‘a chief minister/minister should not, nor permit a member of his family, contract debts of a nature likely to embarrass or influence him in the discharge of his official duties’,â€
So sir if you are looking for any loan please approch some bank why acquire it at the expense of us the punters. We are already fed up of the members of BTC who enjoy privilages at our cost.
This is a wake up call for all in the industry.
BTC :- Instead of kneeling in front of CM you can ask all owners to remove their horses from BTC and move to other centers shut down all racing activities till the time government grands license without any condition.
Owners :- Instead of paying heafty BTF and not able to earn stakes money Owners assosiation should conviene an urgent meeting and remove all their horses from BTC.
Professionals :- Trainers may suffer to earn license on other centers. Jockeys always have the option to ride on any center they want. Its going to effect small time jockeys because big brothers are going to eat into your pocket.
But a word of caution to all race clubs in India. Its long time bookies, owners, trainers and jockeys with the help of blind eyes from club authorities are indulging in malpractices and manipulate the outcome of races. HS Chandregowda who had filed a criminal complaint with the High Grounds police had shown us a way. Now we are going to pay 28% tax on our betting. If you can't gaurantee us fair racing we can opt for the same action through executive and judiciary and make sure the fate of BTC can happen to any race club in India. We don't need too many people for that only one punter from each center with some guts thats it.
