Good development, now if the things are not upto the mark, the Government will also be answerable. A sincere suggestion for the honourable Government
of Karnataka, please ensure your nominated reps are ex Army/ IAS/ IPS and the gentlemen of repute as the less will not do, failing you may also get very bad name for being a party to this very tricky business. Good luck

Could anyone explain the intentions of the Govt, the implications it might have on BTC and how and why it would affect the functioning of BTC and how and what affects it is going to have on races and as a result on the punting public ??

Do not know much about the politics in Bangalore. In a certain centre, have seen vehicle of a political party entering the race course and go out after the last race is over. Obviously the entry and exit is for collecting money and money laundering.

This is not the first time it happened.
In 70's one Mr. Krishnappa's horse became second, after objection it became First and Krishnappa was a Senior Steward. There was lot of protests and Ramakrishna Hegde was the chief Chief minister simply refuse to grant licence to Mysore races unless they (BTC) included a rule that Senior steward shold not hold any horses, then all the stwards owning the horse resinged and the licence was granted.
Now enough water has flown and that rule may not be followed.

Licence has given only for conducting Intervene betting on Mysore Races.I presume still govt has not renewed licence for conducting races in Bangalore.

the 50 govt representative are all politicization that also lot of the not have good back ground...only god can save btc from them...

The BTC is run more on ego than any thing what gave the govt this chance was a simple blunder by Btc.
It removed Mr Shetty against the orders of the govt.So big a hurry to do so 6 race days lost and BTC gave in some thing so many earlier lot had resisted..
Also there will be 2 govt nominees on the BTC board.
Well they had it coming,Good goverance is lacking here.

Confusing if government gives license it gives for the whole month. How do they give for 1 day for Mysore today. Are they expecting BTC to sign whatever they want by today. BTC need to frame a card for the weekend.

BTC has paid a heavy price. It was expecting that the Govt will renew the license as a matter of routine. However, the Government compelled the BTC to agree to their dictates.
Whether the Government's approach in demanding membership to its 50 nominees was right? I think the Government should have either refused to renew the license or granted the same without any precondition/s. This approach from the Government looks somewhat unethical. Anyway, BTC also has enough faultlines of its own and the Government has shown them who is the boss.

A Big relief indeed, for race-goers all over India! but it smacks of trouble the move to hike the members' numbers from 350 to 500 with 50 of them representing government? Where these point to?
