Fluke !!

By Dreams | 20-Jun-2017

Hi All,
When ever a fluke strike in a race in longer odds it's very common dialog from a punter ..I knew it or I know he will go only in longer odds or ohh man I missed it .. so many fustration like this.. though he didn't place a single bet. If he placed some small bet also fustration hat he didn't played much .. why like this ??

Actiually what is a fluke in a race ? For me 3 simple things listing below

1 ) a booki hrs , trying and winning without betting his hrs and took all others betting on other hrs in the race in his pocket - good way of gambling and winning - applauds
2) Many good hrs are not in race and the unfortunte Outsider who tested his skills coming and winning - Chances are less. Greedy trainers in India they won't even ready to miss an out side chane of his hrs in any case I guess
3) Fixing a race for somebody's benifit . Deciding a race for no betting race for the connection. It can be like pulling away the first 4 choice of the race that we are not winning this race .

In any of the above mentioned points a serious punter should not get disappointed that he knew and didn't place his bet. Because any of the above are not a part of calculative gambling.

So if this is a fair racing and game of skills , why can't they null and void the races which is won by longer odds .
Bcos the above mentioned points are not part of game of skills as far as I know. And shame on the trainers those who are winning on longer odds .. either they are part of a big money looting or they are not worth for their job. They won't even know their horse is going to win this race and confident enough to tell the owner back wht ever u want this is ur game boy !!

Dreams,
you need to learn racing before bet next time. Your understanding of flukes is absolutely wrong.

Let me elaborate...

Who are the biggest losers of racing????

Believe me, they are none other than the OWNERS. They are the FIRST LOSERS. Punters will come only after them.

If any owners knows that their horse is winning as fluke, they can PLAY it all out. If that is the case, how come you are getting 400/500+ INR for a tenner? If a trainer tells his owner that his horse is winning at such longer odds, do you think that he will not play and tell his connections to play it? And do you think that trainer will keep quite??? and jockey will keep quite if he knows that his horse is winning as fluke??? All these connections will hit BIG and you will never get those dividends at tote. At most what can happen is that they ONLY PLAY PLACE even though they are trying to gamble.

I know many cases where even PLACE on such gamble flukes failed. In many cases, the connections of such horses had to search for money for another bet.

Only very very few cases, like 5-10% of such gambles will click, however connections including owners cannot play them with confidence. They only aim for PLACE and you can easily get such gambles from ring color.

Never-mind, 90% of major centers will go on merit, even if the horse wins at very long odds like 20/1. So, concentrate on your handicapping skills instead of wasting your time on analyzing such occasional flukes.

All the best.

@ Dreams, my view is simply this:

Retire from racing , get yourself a job and spare us all this utter rubbish.

Dear Dreams,

Sir you have rightly mentioned the scenarios in which longer odds horses win. But you have missed a lot of other scenarios besides the most important one that is horses belonging to owners who do not gamble and whose horses keep trying in all the races in which they are entered and run on merit.I am one of them, so would you blame my horse, me or my trainer if the others do not let their horses run on merit.

There are two kinds of people in racing - Gamblers and Horse lovers. So painting everyone with the same brush could be a folly of your lack of understanding of the sport.

Cheers,

AVP

@Dreams,

Winning a Fluke horse is not a fault of trainers but we horseplayers fault. Like you expect better or longer odds and they too. Below are some points where we make mistakes:
1 Mostly our focuses are on favorite horse, Jockeys especially with high win percent.
2 Based on the first point, we don't study other participating horses in detail.
3 We all are misguided by media tipsters and go with the flow like sheep.
4 We think of result first than the action.
5 We are unable to read the minds of horse owner, jockey and trainers.
6 One can add more points.

Thanks.

This is so sad of you horse racing is a handicap sport and form is not the only factor to determine the outcome. Now bookies are not there and what reason you have for longer odds horses winning? The favorite is not determined by the performance but by the amount of money flowing to a horse in that particular race. There are so many instances of people blindly playing the favorite even for place and to them i tell them trust in your handicapping skills. As of Fixing in the recently concluded Champions trophy there were so many upsets including the infamous final I do not hear people saying the match was fixed. The problem is people do not see horse racing as a pure sport and that is so sad for the sport of Horse racing.I hope people become as knowledgeable about the sport and stop blaming on jockeys because Horse racing is one of the most dangerous sports.

It all depends on the owners: Ones who are genuine with no interest in gambling and not influenced by outside pressure, others who are small time and have to follow outside dictats, and others who are the gambling type and would look to win when the odds are longer.

If you have read about what happened/happening in the sports of Cricket, then definitely you would understand what is happening in racing.

On course turnover is just peanuts.
