Mad Max from your post it looks like the info you have got is from a bookie and not from any Club member. Already it shows that are deciding what rates they will charge as posted by you. 3% more if you win so 15% in all. Then official tax should be 30%. As Red Cheiftan says forget thepast why encourage bookies to make money and have the club and government suffer. It is nothing but cheating. So if you have got this info from a bookie tell them this. If it is from any club member tell them the same.

How much legally bookmakers tax the punters, that will be known once the Club decide their commission. I commented on tax on illegal bets. Previously it was 10%, now it would be 12% initially along with the bets. If you win you have to pay another 3%. Shortly you will come to know this. What I heard from insiders I posted here. Now we all have to wait till 8th July to see whether the news is correct or not.

What was the original tax displayed everywhere, when bookmakers continued to accept illegal bets at 10%...? Where were you at that time? They have been openly accepting bets @ 10%. Are you aware of it?

A large number of punters really desire that book makers should be given the license. So, if the btc management agrees to permit a limited number of book makers, let them do it by all means.

I am a very small link in the racing world. My views for or against hardly matters. But, the btc management has shown in the last 7 months that if there are no bookies, then racing will not come to a standstill. A pleasant side effect of demonetisation.

Having said this much, I would like to add just one more thing. Every establishment, for the sake of credibility at least will try to stand by their press declaration/s. Before the start of current BNG season, the BTC management had said there will be no book-makers. I do not think they will over rule or by-pass their own stated guideline/s. So I think till Aug 11, there will be no change in the existing arrangements.

Neither you, nor I (or for that matter anyone) has not seen tomorrow. If my thinking is proved wrong, and bookies do appear within a short time, then, to me, it is absolutely no problem.

Betting at 12% is itself a donation to the Bookies, then again why pay 3% on winning amounts ?? Okay, at least that applies for people playing 1000 and above, what is the Tax Rate for people playing less than that ??

The whole business of unaccounted money is BLACK, but as punters we go along as by the end of the financial year only a few would have some gains which they may or may not declare, but from a Bookies POV, he would be accumulating all BLACK !!

Thirdly, when the taxation is 28% at totes, how can the Club allow bookies to operate at 12% ??
