If you had given your correct address to the Turf Club at the time of filling up your Tax certificate. the TDS should come to you by post.

@PraveenS,

Implementation of IT rules should be uniform throughout India. It is a real pain if for a treble ticket, I get 7100+, whereas for the same amount of dividend a Mumbaiwala gets 10k+.

I had some 10 tds counterfoils (3 years) and I really believed that I can get some refund. But, never had I claimed even 100/- on this tds. I used to decide sometimes in Mar-Apr that every year I should include the race income. But come July, all I do is to file my IT as per the form 16 only. No other income. No chance of any rethink on that issue now. I have thrown the counterfoils to dust bin after tearing it. Loss of 6000/-. Chaltha hai.

And I am certain there are several 100s or even more of Bangaloreans who have at least one or two tds slips with them but do not know how to proceed further. And they all follow the same thing that I have done. I have seen too many times the punters not even caring to collect the tds slip.

Those who got any refund should share their experience first hand. AND THEY SHOULD BE PREFERABLY FROM BANGALORE. Otherwise, our money will be in the suspense account of the Income Tax Department and some years later that will be transferred to revenue head.

@Mad Max,

No rebirth in Karnataka? Here exacta pay 10k or more on a number of occasions. Sometimes even forecast/trinella. I think last race in previous meeting at BNG, the fc was 12k+. Delhi/Mumbai, I doubt whether you will see 10k even if you clear 4 forecasts where 1st & 2nd finishers are in 20s & 30s.

Regarding modification in the BTC software that allows automatic exemption of 10k, I am not that much optimistic. At least not in the near future. This tds exemption was as low as 2500 during 90s. 5k from start of this decade and 10k from last year. When the exemption was only 5k, the men with tds counterfoil were dime a dozen. 7 out of 10 exactas were paying 5k or more. Even you may be one among many who had such grievance. But, relief? I am too skeptical.

At BTC they will deduct 3300 TDS and balance 7700 will be straight into your hands.

If you were in Mumbai, Delhi or Kolkata you would have pocketed
11000 - Exemption 10000 = Net Taxable 1000 @ 30% TDS = 300
11000-300 = You should have received 10700. Your Loss Rs 3000.
Next time don't take rebirth in Karnataka if you want to stick on racing.

If you have got 11000 on a single ticket, they will exempt Rs.10 ticket cost and the TDS deduction shall be done on 10990.
