Not Worth Going To Races.

By Shaps | 01-Jul-2017
From today, the tote pay-outs have fallen down drastically at Hyderabad.

At this rate, it is not worth playing win, place is hit the worst and even forecast and quinells are not giving good dividents.

The bookies have started charging tax as follows :

31 % tax upto Rs 2,000/-.from today onwards. Legal.
!2 % half tax ( illegal ) today, and from tomorrow it will be 14% half tax.

Why should the illegal half tax be increased, when the money directly goes into the pockets of the bookies and not the club not the govt???????
GST does not affect this.

This kind of taxing will make the punters neither play at the bookie nor the tote. Punters should think twice to play or not.

Yes King, have a lot to say for yesterday's racing.
In addition to the GST , less pay-out's more taxes, the following.

Made-up races, setting's and looting took place right in front of our eye's yesterday. All with the go-ahead and knowledge from the top officials of the Bng club, the owners, the trainers and ofcourse the jockeys. They all made a killing, while we were being butchered.

This is seen by many rouges involved, as an act of saving the club and the connections their stakes and money.

Playing with expecting much less profit, with theives surrounding us, is equal of being hung by the noose.

GOD save punter's from this type of white collar theives.

@Shaps,

The business was usual at BTC. 60 lakh + collections per race. Gst or no gst. One thing is established. High taxation will not scare away the punters.

I was still under the impression that at Hyderabad, minimum for half tax bets is 1000. Thanks for the update on that.

GST rates, club deduction from sales at tote. Do not expect any respite.

Of course this half tax is a grey area. Bookies are demanding 14%. They will insist that rate if the betting volume is as much as it was before 1st July. And of course a roll back is possible if the business volume goes down. Simple logic of demand & supply.

"Punters should think twice to play or not". Right. But, the betting world is structured in such a way that the house (means tote or bookies) get their share of business. Say you and two other your friends decide to stay away from bookies, tote for all 7 races today. Your absence will not reduce the business. From a large pool of non betters, two or three will stray into the race course.

Ys it's not worth going to races from the day one races were started in some corner of world. But people are attending races since 70 to 80 years.
There is not even a single person on earth who has made money attending races reguraly.
But still we go . Why????????????
Has any one made money in casinos attending regularly?
Noooooooooooooooo
The whole system is designed to benefit the operaters.
We fools keep going. Why????????
It's a Q no one can answer including me.No answer will satisfy the whole lot of race goers.
Racing is a Ponzi scheme started some 70 years and will survive another 1000 years unless racing is banned like lottery.I have taken laks and lost laks.
I would be richer by 4-5 crores by not attending races.

Shaps there is a big difference between punters and gamblers.

The latter will keep coming what ever the rates.
The poor punter out classed by this lot has very little choice, sadly he is in a minority
