The Mysore Fillies Trial Stakes
Setaglow: Winner on debut, and the first two (Setaglow & Malana) drew clear from the rest of the filed. The manner of victory suggests she would relish the 1400mtrs trip. With Trevor carrying Mallya’s flag she would run on-money favorite in this race.
She could win, as Bang horses are far superior to that of Mysores’, and we all know what the “Multidimensional†blood can do.
However, the opponents she beat aren’t much of horses in my books (Malana failed miserably). The fact that she isn’t ran in current Bang season & no mock race either (while most of other 3year olds have). Besides, her track movements too aren’t very impressive, makes me look for a winner in others.
Tigris: Is one of my two favorite 3year olds in Mysore (other being Steinlight, might run the Colts 2weeks from now). Tigris won her previous start very well beating a poor set of horses. There is no doubt she would reach class-1 in Mysore, but does she have enough class to beat Setaglow ?
Well, I’m a great fan of “Phoenix Tower†& I also believe the best suited distance is 1400mtrs. She’s tracking very well, and in my books she can positively beat the other 3 Mysore horses. With the heavy weights (Trevor, Neeraj & Suraj) in the race, she might just offer good value for monies. Prashant Dhebe might go on a start-to-finish & hope to keep Setaglow at bay.
Nikka: Thrice on board in equal number of starts, winner on debut beating “Amaris†(still a maiden) by 5 lengths, & later finished 2nd (5lenghts behind) to “Start Style†giving 4KGs. She has the habit of drifting-out under the whip, sensing that her trainer is opted for “BLK†and is booked Neeraj & hope he would correct the drift. She should run well.
Star Style: The change of stable has done well for her, as she won very well beating “Saturn†close home & is the only horse who’s won this distance. Now giving weights to her opponents is a big minus, and that could be a stopper.
Amaris: Still a Maiden, in spite of Suraj atop I don’t fancy her. Perhaps she’ll be too good to miss in her next start.
All the best !
