Highest rated in each category but Handicap races for 3y will be the best experienced.

Coming to class IV - 3y old with highest rating and having cleared maiden status is considered as most experienced.

In a nutshell the rating at which a horse enters a particular class determines the level of experience.

As far the sub classes are concerned open class is superior to 4y which is superior to 5y.

A horse will give different timings in open class, 4y & 5y for similar distance and same handicap - as timing is based on the pace at which the race is run.
