Let me start with the Days Best or a Good Double i.e races 7th and 8th.
These horses have just run last week and are inform. Don't ignore. The others are??

8-13 LAVENDER - Jockey change from Nikhat to Akshay. Ran well to finish a close 4th after an interference on 13th July to Khoshgel. Don't look beyond, back this horse well.

7-9 SEFARINA - Ran well on 13th July to finish a close 2nd by head with the same jockey astride. Looks to be in good nick to take this set. Again don't look beyond, back this horse well.

6-2 VIJAY JOY - This is a very open race, but I would prefer as this is speedy customer and if takes a good lead, others will be in futile chase. The others to consider are Mr Bahubali and Rahuls Pet.

5-7 RACING ICON - Ran two good seconds last season with an apprentice on board. Now with Nikhat in the saddle has to go better. The other who will chase for Shp/Place is 6 Wonder Star.

4-11 MASTI - I like the breed Echo of Light. Is going on bottom weight and tracking well. Has to beat Altruist, Oh Dear and Poll Promise.

3-6 NEW PORT - By Phoenix Tower, tracking well, should win on debut.

2-1 CELTIC QUEEN - Coming with two win last season and going for an hatrick straight away and beat On The Fire last time. Very small difference between the two. I prefer CQ.

1-2 ARROW ARROW ARROW - By Win Legend, tracking well. The other one to consider is Blue Angel Akshay on board, who had just one run last season.

1.15 #7 WILD WINGS showed speed to lead last time only to be picked off late. Drops slightly in distance and can break through.
Keep an eye on well bred #8 BLUE ANGEL she can upset.

1.45 #3 PAPRIKA likes to roll forward in her races and if she can get right run up front may steal this from the corner.

2.15 #6 NEW PORT is on debut and this well bred son of Phoenix Tower has a fair chance to shed his maiden tag in this ordinary set of maidens.

2.50 #2 OH DEAR except once never lost on mansoon track. Won impressively in upper class last start before the spell. Now drops in grade and that makes her an obvious choice.
#11 MASTI has earlier defeated former and still is better placed on handicap and is a live threat at this low weights.

3.25 #6 WONDER STAR can bounce back in the right grade. Her win prior to last start was good.

4.00 #6 RAHUL'S PET has come back from a spell in career best form and will continue her winning streak.
#8 THE HEALER if fit then too good for this field at this handicap. Never lost on mansoon track.

4.35 #8 WINE N DINE has come down significantly in scales and can strike now with positive switch in rider and shoes.

5.10 The top weight #1 LITTLE SMART HEART will find this a better assignment than her last couple and won't be far away.
#4 REBELLION has come down a lot in ratings and rates a winning chance with the first-up run under his belt. 3.5kg claim helps.

11 – Little Royal – jockey won the opening race of the season, may try today too

My choice: Looks a tough race, (7) Wild wings had the measure of (8) Blue Angel in winter, may reverse the placing now and (8) Blue Angel might win it today

2nd Race

1 – Celtic queen – twice winner and on hatrick from winter, may place here with this jockey
2 – On the fire – led almost till winning post, before surrendering to Celtic queen over 1200mts, if tries same way should be a clear winner today
5 – Vancouver – with this jockey can place
6 – Asteria – impressive last start winner, may try again with this jockey
7 – Gladstone – earlier winner at identical distance with jockey, may try for place
8 – Proud Warrior – may try for a place
10 – Sarvatra – Impressive winner on debut, will be in contention with this jockey

My choice: (2) On the fire may get this from (10) Sarvatra

3rd Race

5 – Mean machine – ran close 5th last time, may improve to be in place now
6 – New port – tracking well, can win on debut
8 – Cannon dear – impressive 5th in last run, can upset now
10 – Heaven can wait – impressive in tracks, will be tried in debut, good chance
12 – Royal green – improving with each run, good chance now

My choice: may be an upset here in the form of (8) Cannon dear, or else both (6) New Port & (10) Heaven can wait will fight it out

4th Race

1 – Al Truist – good second in last run, with impressive tracks now, will be in contention
2 – Oh Dear – a hatricker last season, and last start winner too, very good chance for a repeat show
3 – Poll Promise – completed a hatrick with same jockey in last three runs, now with much less to travel, may try start to finish again for an upset
5 – Symbol of Pride – always a front runner, with this jockey runs with good upsetting chance
7 – Green Image – running some game races, may be its turn now
9 – Legend – last run was impressive and a win is due for long, with this jockey good chance
10 – Wonder Eye – tracking impressively, with this jockey might upset
11 – Masti – speedy, may place with this jockey

My choice: Looks quite open (7) Green Image with season run benefit and positive change in shoe, is the one to be beaten

5th Race

1 – Ice Cave – last start winner, may try for place here
2 – Back to business – running some game races, close to the winner on opening day, good chance now
4 – Blaze of glory – jockey had a fabulous start this season, may try because of that
5 – Power Star – failed miserably when ran as a hot favorite, can get back to winning ways, upset chance
6 – Wonder Star – Good third to Ice cave, tracking ok, can upset with this jockey
7 – Racing Ikon – with this jockey in with a chance
9 – Ashwini – speedy, track condition may suit her style, may try start to finish for a grand upset
10 – Cash for Rank – at these weights, very good chance for an upset with this rookie
11 – Enter Canter – also appeals on weights, can place

My choice: (10) Cash for Rank or (2) Back to Business each way & small upset chance on (9) Ashwini

6th Race

1 – Happy guy – ran well in sprinters cup during invitation weekend, on that basis may place
2 – Vijays Joy – jockey rode this horse well twice in as many starts with him, good chance to score
3 – Vijay Viraj – may need a bit more distance for comfort
4 – Mr. Baahubali – jockeyship will be under test for the imported jockey, may win
6 – Rahuls pet – if backed during race time, can run away with this jockey
7 – Time for fun – never out of board at these distance, with champion astride, will be in contention
8 – The Healer – never lost with this jockey astride, may try to keep the record intact
10 – Baashagar – close 2nd once to the Healer, based on that and with jockey in-form, may upset

3 – Jem Star – tracking well, good 2nd in last run, runs with very good chance now
4 – Bouncer – may place with this jockey
6 – Yet another – runs with an upsetting chance
7 – Abracos – very close 5th on opening day, if carries that form, can win easily
8 – Wine N Dine – a win is due for long, can get it any day
9 – Sefarina – maiden after 48 runs, almost cleared it in last run on opening day, may not do it today too, only place

Here are My SELECTIONS for HYDERABAD Monsoon Races of 20th July’17--Day-2


Race 1 Win#7-WILD WINGS
Led till bend and then fell back fifth to Lady In Lace, a runaway winner last week in a terms race (rated @ Cl-II) at Bangalore!
Expected to have a stroll in the park tomorrow....!!!

My DAY'S BEST.


Race 2 Win#4-RAGAS AJALIAS
Ignore her last start where she ran waywardly and the jockey was also fined.
Prior to that her record has been pretty consistent. Already twice winner in this class; as such, I expect her to win straightaway upon demotion.
Keep an eye on PAPRIKA, who can also upset.


Race 3 Win#1-ALL STAR GENERAL
Ran 4th to Money Time over 1200mts in his last start, moving attractively in the latest trials, should now emerge from his maiden status.
This win could also be Mukesh Kumar / Satyanarayan's straight double/ hat trick.


Race 4 Win#11-MASTI
Ignore her last run, earlier placed 2nd over 1400mts; moving attractively in the latest trials, should go one better now with a positive switch in the saddle.


Race 5 Win#7-RACING IKON
Twice second in her last two starts, with apprentice Bopanna up....is now expected to be victorious with Nakhat Singh doing the honours.


Race 6 Win#4-MR BAAHUBALI
Ignore his past two attempts. With a better jockey and apparent improvement in looks and fitness, based on current trackwork can be expected to deliver now.
Clearly...my JP banker.


Race 7 Win#2-ROMANTIC FIRE
Difficult to spot an outright winner in this race. However, I have picked Romantic Fire, based on her 2nd to Hunter's Pride in the higher class. Should she reproduce that run tomorrow, she would be home and dry.
The other contenders are JEMSTAR & SEFARINA, who must be included in JP pool.


Race 8 Win#13-LAVENDER
Ran a close 4th to Khoshgel from a rear position, last week, despite interference, I expect that she would have stripped fitter after that foray and therefore would raise a winning gallop in this modest set of runners.
