Here are My SELECTIONS for KOLKATA Races of 12th Aug’17.


Race 1 Win#3-BOURNEVILLE
A shorthead second to So Regal, after being interfered in the straight. With the same jockey being assigned and additional 100m to traverse..the race looks to be in her safe-keeping.
ROYAL BRUTE is the one who can be the party spoiler.


Race 2 Win#5-SO REGAL
If Bourneville were to win in the opening event...So Regal becomes a near certainty, since they have both run together, and in the same class as well.
ARCHIVOLT with Alford up, can upset the regal party.


Race 3 Win#3-MERCEDES
Has been a very consistent runner; and is high time that she breaks out of her maiden status. Tracking attractively can do the trick now. Her last run may be ignored where she was badly interfered with.
The one to be wary of would be the Bangalore import SIMON TEMPLAR, who is gradually getting into form.


Race 4 Win#2-SHOHIN
An impressive winner in his last start where he came with a dazzling run from the rear of the field, giving an impression that the longer he goes the better he would stay. With 600m additional to travel, Shohin can be banked upon to win.
MY DAY'S BEST


Race 5 Win#4-STAR ONE
Ran 2nd to Sporting Trainer over the same trip in his last start, should make it a start to finish affair in this race.
Main adversary is AQUITANIA, who had finished a length behind him in that very race. It's going to be a battle of the two.


Race 6 Win#1-MY LADY LUCK
Ran 2nd to Mizuno over 1200mts as the favourite; with a shorter distance to traverse now, should probably get the measure of SHYBELLE, who in turn, does not seem to be quite comfortable carrying heavier weights, and also the presence of ace jockey...C.Alford.


Race 7 Win#1-SIMRAN'S CHOICE
A lucrative Jaiswal double, in case My Lady Luck were to win in the previous race. However, we would need to presume that the trainer has now been able to rectify the tardy gate manners of Simran's Choice, who has quite a dubious record in this regard. In fact, she has been slowly off in the last six instances from 7 starts??
Or else, BLUE ZONE will simply walk away with the race, if she were to falter yet again.

1-3 BOURNVILLE - Ran a good and close 2nd to So Regal, this was a lung opener for her. The way she fought suggests she is ready to strike. Had not won for long after winning 3 consecutive races in Jan2016. Roman Ridges by HolyRomanEmperor is the next best.

2-2 ARCHIVOLT - Lost narrowly in the first run this season over 1100m. Extra 100m should suit. 6 Go Zara Go tracking well and expected to go close and 3 fiorelle? its first run.

3-7 SIMON TEMPLER - By Burden of Proof, brought back after 2 runs in Bangalore, the last run over 1400m 1:26:95 4-3/4L behind the winner after running a forward race. Don't ignore Mercedez, if at longer odds. Maiden race don't play the favorite.

4-2 SHOHIN - By Declaration of War is bound to go well over longer trips and winning over 1200m was a lung opener. Dasrath might double with this horse after winning on Simon Templer.

5-4 STAR ONE - Very little to choose from Aquatania vs Star One. Both had first runs for the season, but in recent run Star One came ahead by 3/4L.

6-3 SHY BELLE - The way it won in its first run this season, seems like more to come. Should repeat.

7-3 BLUE ZONE - Came flying to finish a close 3rd and now with Dasarath in the saddle is going to be tried again. Pollyana ran a forward race with BZ and is sure to place.

4-2 Shohin in good form for repeat, hope Mariska do well and try to clear its maiden status
5-6 Midnight Star has to beat only 5 Gift of Valentine
6-1 hope My Lady Luck smiles on me, also note first time (10) Prolific Visit
7-8 Polly Anna will be gamble today
