The Government License extended to BTC to conduct live racing and off-course betting ends today -31st August 2017 !
The Karnataka Government is in no mood to renewed the license from tomorrow, September 1, 2017. Main reason is, in spite of the assurance given by BTC Chairman in a letter to the Govt last month, there is no progress in expanding the membership of the Club by 150 out of which 50 to the Government nominees.
Sometime back the members voted out and replaced their Chairman since then allegations and counter allegations disrupted the smooth conduct of races and CM ordered a CID enquiry against the Club and the enquiry is simply going on and on. Now the Government is taking this as a weapon to halt issuing license to the Club. They say LET THE CID FILE THEIR REPORT, we will decide ! So what, the Government will not issue the license till the CID complete their enquiry and file their report. Or is it a ploy to pressure the BTC to toe in line and accord membership to 50 government nominees...?
My question to BTC and their Legal Experts is that Karnataka Race Horse Owners Association's Appeal has been admitted by The Supreme Court of India and the matter will be heard within a year or so. Since the matter is sub-judice, and the Defendant in this case is the Govt of Karnataka themselves, can the State Government unilaterally go against the Supreme Court and take a decision to STOP BTC from conducting races and off-course betting under the pretext of Licensing issues?

To issue license or not is perogative of the govt. Similarly to issue membership or not is prerogative of BTC members.It is a case of clash of perogatives with no mutuality.The BTC chairman requires mandate of club members to oblige govt's demand which was denied in the past. In the ensuing AGM on 5th Sept.the matter shall be decided by votes. Depending on new mandate ChairmanBTC shall interact with the govt.Till than fingers crossed and rest to the purse!!??

These are all just drama to extract money and I am quite sure our club BTC will pay to survive. They can recover from the Public and few races fixed means they get their money. Look at the tote dividend. This itself dispkays thgeir desperate situation for money. As they sow they reap. If the Club is closed many top people will be in Financial problem when the flow is stopped chain reaction will take place.

Tomorrow 1st September 2017 there wont be any Off-course betting for Mysore races at Mysore. Even there wont be any Off-course betting at BTC for Pune, Kolkata & Hyderabad races this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, as the Government is not ready to move an inch. LAGTHA HAI CHAIRMAN, COMMITTEE MEMBERS and STEWARDS all gone on LONG LEAVE.
So anyone wants to bet, better make their journey to Mysore.

Gopi you are right the stewards should step down.
Btc has one CEO, One Deputy CEO,One secretary, and One Deputy Secretary. All of them are are Very Highly Paid, and still BTC closing down second time in 3 months.
Request to Stewards to step down and leave the club along with CEO Nirmal Prasad.

These stewards are the worst in the history of btc.
This is the second time in 4 months they are closing,they do not know to run racing. They should step down morally. Check all other race clubs there is no problem. Only these btc stewards should step down.
