Calcutta Monsoon Cup 2017
Just checked out this race in which out of the 6 runners running - 5 have ran on the same day [20th September 2017 ]

Shivalik Showers won 1800m clocking 1.57.37
Cadman won 2000 m clocking 2.14.22 and the 3 runners ran behind it all inside 1.01 secs [Rewalding -Shourisha -No more Politics ]

History of Monsoon Cup from 2009
Arkotouros won this cup in 2009 with C-ALFORD
Unleashed won this cup in 2011 from Arkotouros [C-ALFORD ]
Unleashed repeated the win again in 2012 again from Arkotorous -C-ALFORD
Malpensa won it from Arkotorous [C-ALFORD] in 2013
Malpensa repeated its win winning from Artesia in 2014
Artesia won this cup in 2015 from fly like the wind [C-ALFORD ]
Shivalik showers won this cup in 2016 [C-ALFORD]

So as per the above stats it does say the owners & trainers like to chase the same cup for 2-3 years in sucession ..along with jockey Alford who seems to have a special liking for this cup winning it 3 times & coming 2nd twice out of 6 attempts since 2009 ... .

My take on this race is
Shivalik Showers will be tried & in contention [fighting line ] with Shourisha
Vijay singhs Cadman shud be the lay bet for the day if fav or joint fav
No more politics has twice ran in earlier years[2015-2016] Monsoon cup & came
4th can be eaten in place
if odds are above 3 to one for Shivalik Showers -
Slam place 80% & 20% WIN as with its main jockey back C-Alford shud be in 1-2
