About 7 years ago While on a visit to Kolkatta, I could manage a visit to RCTC . The Grand Stand was under Rennovation at that time, it did not matter as that was an IVB day on Mumbai Races and my interests were in the Bookies Ring. The Moderate crowd of Punters were well behaved . The Bookies Ring was comparatively small but the Odds were Decent better than with Bookies at Chennai and Bangalore. The Breeze from the Hoobli was soothing and there were better food stalls far better than at Bangalore and Chennai and better than at Mysore. Things would be better Now I Hope. Narad’s experience may be exceptional. Place Odds of 70 Paise on 4 to 1 win odds is pretty good, you will not get better than half money in Bangalore or Chennai.

Admission in RCTC is restricted. Not everybody can walk in. Your appearance/personality matters. I'm not aware of having refused to sign up for someone even if I have never seen him in my entire life.

Narad, I don't know your betting capacity or your style but you seem to me a newbie and bookies are wary of dealing with absolute strangers...who knows you might be a cutter or a bookie's representative from another centre out to make a fast buck!

I have been on the scene for the last 2 decades. Never faced any problems of the nature that you have mentioned. You must be joking bro!

LHP is a very interesting pool. in fact, in DRC, punters play with each other, this type of pool. But it has so many complications.

suppose if one for more horse struck in gates, or one or more does not complete the race, or such complications.

assuming the D in your name doesn't stand for 'dhakan', would you please stop talking like one.

The members issue is very much there and i when i couldn't get one to sign for me, the guards at the members gate handed me over a signed paper from some other member, and i had to just write my name and enter but not before a generous bakshish to the ones guarding the members enclosure.

I was not going to bring this up in light of the bigger schemes dominating our lives, but you left me no choice.

Moreover, it is a dull place.

Place odds from bookies on second and third favs at 3/1 and 4/1 don't go beyond 70p and if some punter bets a quarter, it's all gone in stellar synchronization from all bookies in the ring.

So it is a depressing place nevertheless and i really don't need anyone to tell me my place in the world.

All race clubs in India must accept Mobile I side race course with a normal fee of ?100/-.must be some justification or logic behind banning Mobile inside race course.till now no clubs hve offered genuine reason.so it's high time they shd allow Mobiles.

the 100 rupee members entry can be difficult to get sometimes because a member needs to sign for you to go in and sometimes they throw such airs like as if you were requesting their support for your nomination in the security council. The 20 rupees members enclosure doesn't have a table and chair for punters to sit and discuss things. Limited options for food and some really spineless bookies. Calcutta all in all is a very depressing scene.
