I always and in future also admire yr knowledge and zest for horse racing in India and abroad in partcular Australia
At this age and time some times u are busy giving lecture etc in different Cities and u hv to reply when needed in HT
Walking down memory lane u reminded us the horse name Vintage Crop trained by Dermot Weld the 1993 Melbourne Cup
I used to watch Melboune cup before going to work courtesy Dubai racing channel
I assure of my personal meeting if u are attending the Indian Derby 2018

Yes,no one barring my good friend,Savio seems interested!
Savio has been responding ,over the years,to whatever I post here and has been kind enough to say nice things but we are yet to meet !
Nice of you to mention about other bets but my son is not interested in betting and I will not trouble him.
My next betting in Australia will be in 2018 Melbourne Cup and in person.

On 11th Nov the trainer is running NO ANNAMOSITY again at Doomben Races Australia If you want you can request your son to bet. This horse will be certainly winning for the 3rd time and achieve Hatric Trevor will not be riding since he is on the back to India and most probably Ronnie Stward will be riding.
You can recover your loss in Melbourne cup !!!

The 40-year-old hoop, born in Wingham, a country town on the mid-North Coast of NSW, Australia took the honours in Australia’s greatest race for the second time today when partnering international raider Rekindling to victory in the $6 million handicap.
His first win came in 2009 when he steered the Mark Kavanagh-trained Shocking to success in the race.
“I just can’t believe it,” Brown said. “I mean the first one was good but this on another level.

A few tit bits and related news about Melbourne Cup.
--Joseph O Brian ,24,Trainer of the winnng horse,Rekindled,is the son of the Irish legendary Trainer,Aidan O Brian.-
--The boy got this years MC in his very first attempt while his celebrated dad is Still to win a Melbourne Cup!!
--Rekindling is the first Overseas runner to win a MC Without running an Australian lead-up Race since Vintage crop did it in 1993.
--9 of the first 11 Runners which went past the Winning post are International horses!!
--Joseph was a Champion jockey in Ireland in 2012 before he stepped down from riding to concentrate solely on Training.
--Corey Brown,the winning jockey on Rekindled went after Williams,the owners of Rekindled to get the ride and he had not met Joseph the Trainer,till the previous day of the Cup Race!!
--22 paid 17 for win and 5.9 for place:
7,Johannes Vermeer paid 4.2 for place and
9 Max Dynamite paid 5.2 for place.
Remember - you have to reduce one dollar in these as the winning amount includes your betting amount.
--Joint favourites Marmelo and Almandine at 7$ each,finished 9 th and 12,respectively!
--It sees every year,before the Big Race,the Chief Steward of Flemington Race Club gives a Pre-Race warning to the jockies which was dispensed with ,this year and the Steward report said that MC was run satisfactorily from rules point of view.
The Owners of Rekindled are richer by 3.6 million while the total dispensed on MC was 6.2 million.

Another coincidence
The Winner Rekindling's Trainer Joseph O'brier is the son of Trainer Adrian O'brien who trained the Second Place Horse Johannes Vermeer ! Many felt that Johannes Vermeer could have easily beaten the Winner - Rekindling. But the Stewards gave a clean chit to the winner and the race was conducted in order.
The whole event was considered as a National Event ! Even the Prime Minister of Australia also gave his choice of winner in Melborne Cup. Right from Prime Minister to public every one was involved in the event. Every where flower deck
exposed Austrakian Spring !

Normally we are used to hear Trainer putting Doosra now here owner has put his doosra. Almaandin was no where in the Race. In Australia many people criticised
for supporting Nick Williams.

Race over.
Winner is 22,Rekindling
Second,7 Johannes Vermeer ,
Third 9,Max Dynamite .
Winner paid 17 and place 5.2,I think.
The beauty the first,second were Almandin who failed all belong to Nick Williams and he was hoping that Almandine will win!!.
Now ,surely some tongues here will wag!!

Today at Flemington Australia Horse No: 22 REKINDLING ridden by Jocket Corey Brown Trained by Trainer Joseph O'Brien won the Melbourne Cup. Horse No: 7 Johanes Vermeer came second.
Lovely arrangement were made at Flemington. Excellent coverage excited every one watching the event from Home from our Computer. Racing.com provided excellent coverage of the event.

Have been checking on Melbourne Cup.
Money has come on the following horses,apart from Almandine
3 Humidor--struggled in 3000m Cox plate.
5 Marcelo--Has international form.
His run in 3000M Caulfield Cup suggests he is going to be very hard to beat.
Has very good turn of foot.
The horse to beat
6 Red Cardinal-- Kerrin Mcevoy who won on Almandine last year is aboard.
Has not raced in Australia but has form.
Big danger
7 Johannesburg Vermeer-- not won beyond 2000M.
Doubtful stayer
9 Max Dynamite--has run in MC.can stay
15 Boom Time--good each way chance
19 Single Gaze-- someone today wanted to be a MILLION on this but bookie accepted 250000 only!
Can stay
20 Wall of Fire--Craig Williams ,the very accomplished Australian jockey is aboard.
Has good form.A few large bets have come on him today at lucrative odds.
22 Rekindling--At 51kg,has a good chance.
Nick Williams,part owner of Almandin/Rekindling and Johannesburg Vermeer says that
If I I could pick who I love to win with MC,it would be Almandine.He is carrying 56.5 kg ,4.5 kg more than when he won but the Trainer is confident that Almadin has improved much since 2016 and can take care of the extra weight.
Gentlemen,
You can make your choices .
My choice is Almandine.

Yes,I have the answer .
Since 6-7 years ,the Bookies in Australia have changed over to this system.
If they offer 2 to 1 on a horse and it comes through,
and if you bet ,say 10 $,then you will get 20 $ only and NOT 20+ 10 as is the case in our country.
In other words,the Returns on a winning bet INCLUDE your bet amount.
So ,Almandine at 8.5 means offered odds are 7.5 to 1.
Hope I have made it clear.
Last time in 2016 at Flemington,I got this clarification from a Bookie.
Also please remember that there is NO TAX whatsoever on the bets or on the Returns in Australia.
Coming to the Melbourne cup,I am glad to let you know that last year I nominated Almandine to win and my son did back it at 12 to 1.
I believe that he is the best stayer among the 24 this year and has a good chance to repeat with Frankie Dettorie on board.

ALMANDIN won lst year as a favorite. The owners and trainer also like our Desert God not contented and satisfied with the earning the Horse has given to them. Again and again they are torturing the horse. I think it is time to give this 8 year old Horse a good retirement and pension. I doubt for the possibility of second time win for ALMANDIN even though the Jockey Dettori is too good.
For tomorrow I too feel Red cardinal or Mormello.
