Daylight Robbery @ Delhi Race Course.

By Squandrer | 07-Nov-2017

Hi folks,

It was absolutely disheartening to see an objection getting upheld in todays 3rd race in delhi for no reason at all.
the winner, "Ancient Warrior" jumped from draw 2 in a 4 horse field & went into the lead without impeding anyone.
the objection by the second placed horse, Vidyeesha, Dhanu astride, against the winner for coming in before the red mark & causing hindrance, i felt did not hold any water.
i think this is absolutely unfair on the punters.
if they want to pre-decide the winner, then why race in the first place?

Well said raj.
The problem with him ,he thinks he is the last word in racing in all aspects and is not willing to even think any thing else which contradicts his views.

Last time his crib was why the Jockey never objected on his choice which lost.

Roku stud connections had decided and wud hve lay roll bet.that s the reason objection was upheld.out of six races three races won by this connections.they pull horses on other days and whenever they lay bets won all races even if lose in race stewards will award to their stanle, coz they also hands in that.if I am wrong pl see last year entire Delhi races.one day sultansingh group will bet.this s wht happening in Delhi
Time will come that day they will realise like Chennai today.

We are not making it as a controversy or downsize anyone.
I just asked the senior persons how you see and objection and final verdict of the stewards. In this case Squandrer has given the the Video link of the race, you just comment about the stewards decision. This is just to view the majority view. It is not to downsize anyone.

@ Dr. Bashaar

Check the Timer in the video and freeze at following points:

Freeze the Video at "4.8 to 5.6" then again "5.6 to 6.0" you can realize the check. Little ahead was the turn.

Dear Mr.Madmax,
Regarding your perception of objection upheld-right decision-I beg to differ from you.
No doubt the rider of Ancient Glory cross vidyeesha ( that also I would say insignificant )( I wont agree with D.S.Deora that because of that crossing he had to check to avoid an accident )- the interference if any didnt appear that serious. Ancient Glory has a good initial speed- surely better than Vidyeesha- which the rider wanted to utilize fully. There was no real intentional crossing as claimed by D.S.Deora.This is how I feel- your views may differ from mine.
Regarding the number of times the jockey of Ancient Glory whipped- Do you really feel that this is a point to be considered in upholding or over ruling an objection? I dont think so. This is an entirely different issue which shouldnt have been considered in upholding an objection.( As bettor's money is at stake )( If he used whip in excess of what he was allowed to use- well it is his assessment- if he is able to get a bit extra with his whipping- mind it it was not a beaten horse he was whipping- he got that bit extra which helped him in winning the race.)( Also at that stage of the race where both were going all out there was no interference at all). According to me it was a fair win. The rest is for the authorities to decide.
Mr.MadMax, I have great regards for your skills in evaluations required in horse racing. Please dont interpret that I am challenging you. Not at all.

There are two sides- the obvious and the not so obvious. We rack up our brains to rightly measure up a horse and its realistic chances with deep study . We rely more on this obvious side and cry foul when the Not- So – Obvious side rears up its head and spoils our hopes. See what happened in Melbourne cup- it was an owner’s Theesra ! . There will be intensions, sabotages, Luck of the race and mishaps and machinations which will be beyond calculations, and sometimes beyond rules.. That is why there is such a glorious uncertainty. “The Race is not always to the Swift Nor the Battle for the Strong” ! It applies to Racing as well as to Life in general. You cant win them all. There will be failures and heartburn. Relax and move on. There is always another day – another lucky day , if you persevere deligently.

Friends :

The fault is on our side only. In such case best way to teach a lesson will be to boycott the Delhi Races !

Without punters or public what they can do ?

Regards to all

@ Squandrer

In my opinion there was no Dacoity whatsoever.
The stewards correctly upheld the objection.

My findings:

1. The race distance was only 1000 mtrs, so any hindrance at the early part of the race can jeopardize the outcome of the race.

2. Every Clubs have their own set rules to punish the culprit (horse and rider) who impede the affected horse before the Red Marker, so they cannot over rule the objection at any cost, more than that the final verdict was close.

3. The winning rider whipped his hose 13 times, excessive use of whip is an offence, and he was desperate to win and as such punished the horse till the winning post. He should be fined or reprimanded as per the Clubs Rules.

4. There are set rules to punish the errant jockeys.

Stewards can decide to hold an enquiry or not, they will consider how the rider has used the whip during the course of the entire race, with particular attention to its use in the closing stages, and relevant factors such as:

a) The manner in which the whip was used, including the degree of force
b) The purpose for which the whip was used
c) The distance over which the whip was used and whether the number of times it was used was reasonable and necessary
d) Whether the horse was continuing to respond.
e) The Runner-up was the best horse because the rider whipped only six times despite the early check.

Hope these information will make you ready for the next races. Thank you Squandrer for the patience reading this.
