Gst Council Cut Rates Of Most Items In 28% Slab !

By Mad Max | 10-Nov-2017
Today as per the latest report, GST Council on their 23rd meeting today, has cut tax rates of 50% of items (about 170) in the 28% tax Slab. However they retained 28% slab for luxury and negative items.

I dont know whether our Chairmen of BTC, RWITC, HRC, RCTC, MyRC, DRC, MRC have any idea of today's meeting and latest tax cut? I am curious to know whether they given any cut on 28% Betting Tax?

Manish Sir very well said Sir
Be happy that the FM has brought down many items to the 18% bracket.i only hope to compensate that the FM does not create a new 42% slab and push racing there.

To day - THE HINDU ON SUNDAY- Assam Finance minister has indicated that 'Govt will work to remove 28% GST slab', this is for your information.

A day after the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council approved dramatic changes to the tax regime and a reduction of tax slabs for over 178 items, the chief of the Group of Ministers that had recommended the revisions and Assam Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said there would be a “constant endeavour to do away with the 28% slab.”

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Sarma termed the opposition, especially former finance minister P. Chidambaram’s contention that the changes had been made with an eye to Assembly polls in Gujarat was “childish.”

If at all GST has to be increased it's on racing. It affects only 0.0000000%(00000 don't know how many zeros to add)Are People not happy that GST being reduced on 170 items? That too on items we use daily.
Ones hotel bill will come down by 13% in an AC hotel. This is what every one uses very often.
That's the best thing. Appreciate and enjoy.
If GST on racing is reduced Govt will become laughing stock.
There is a limit to beg from govt.

No M.M no change as Racing has been clubbed with Lottery. So we are stuck with 28% for quite some time.

All this farce of racing a sport [decade ago ruling of supreme court is of no use].
Every one knows about racing now.

Desar Mad Max :

I do not think they will cut for Racing income ! Because it canot be considered as essential item. Moreover our Chairman of the respective club also not so enthusiastic in arguing with the Govt.

We are at bottom of the list of GST Council our issue is still pending or not at all in their list.
Chairman and board members are here to enjoy benefits of Race clubs they are not the sufferers so they are least bothered. If not they would have gone to Court against this issue.

As per latest info..most items will be at 5,12,18 percent..and they are abolishing 28% and introducing 40 percent sin tax for only 8 to 10 items and horse racing betting is at 4th item in that list..In all probability racing will be closed by 2019..before just general elections..

Very disappointed. The full list of items on which Tax Cut allowed is out from 14th Midnight. There is no mention of Horse race Betting. Very Sad

Is it because of our Finance Minister is not a learned Economist, but a mere Advocate. May be he succumbed to the pressure of the bureaucrats once again. Or is it because of the Incompetent men at the affairs of TAI and Race Clubs? Anyone wish to give their views?

Mad Max, I dont think they are bothered about it.As long as you have addicts going for Races and not Race goers, they have nothing to worry. You have bookies outside to cater to Big Punters who cares. Its the TOTE players in Bangalore and Mysore who take the hit.The reality is that loses for the Punters are going to Mount as Decent returns on the TOTE are a thing of the past.
