Back to listsRe: Rigs As Stallions
By Indian_turf_record | 11-Dec-2017Question was put to me by Mad Max in thread Hyderabad 2000 Guineas about rigs being successful stallions. I am opening new thread because topic may be of wider interest.
A rig is horse whose one or both testicles have not descended into scrotum. Sometimes they descend later but not always. Famous rigs who have been successful stallions include Slew o'Gold, A.P. Indy, Dahar, Gray Slewpy, Mineshaft, Summer Squall, Biscawong, etc. An operation to remove undescended tesicle was performed on some of them.
In India, Invitation Cup winner Prince Khartoum was rig. He later stood as rig at Maharashtra Stud and produced many winners including some who placed in black-type races.
