Re: Rigs As Stallions

By Indian_turf_record | 11-Dec-2017

Question was put to me by Mad Max in thread Hyderabad 2000 Guineas about rigs being successful stallions. I am opening new thread because topic may be of wider interest.

A rig is horse whose one or both testicles have not descended into scrotum. Sometimes they descend later but not always. Famous rigs who have been successful stallions include Slew o'Gold, A.P. Indy, Dahar, Gray Slewpy, Mineshaft, Summer Squall, Biscawong, etc. An operation to remove undescended tesicle was performed on some of them.

In India, Invitation Cup winner Prince Khartoum was rig. He later stood as rig at Maharashtra Stud and produced many winners including some who placed in black-type races.

Thanks for the immediate reply. You are the only one genius here in Horse Talk we can knock your door any time, thanks again helping Horse Talkers with necessary inputs.

Prince Khartoum won the Invitation for Films Personality Sanjay Khan in 1972. I was in existence as a human being at that time but not in horse racing. RWITC has provided a list of Inv.Cup winners from 1963, but the color, sex or age of the winners not mentioned. rwitc.com/invitationcup/pastwinners.php. It is nice there was at least one RIG in India produced many winners.

Since Mr.Sun has picked a Rig Destined Dynamite today the Malakpet 2000 Guineas I was eager to know more about Rig as a stallion. Hope your clarifications will help many students of this game.

Thanks once again.
