This is the second time I am bringing this topic for discussion. Few horse talkers raised the bookmakers issue once again and they are interested in reading latest development on this front.

During the Summer Season there were plans to bring the bookmakers back. Few of the bookmakers migrated from Bangalore either to Pune or Mysore or elsewhere, were in principle agreed to come back along with the few who started private betting. Main culprit was the GST issue, High Tax slab rate, etc which put the bookies in a piquant situation whether to return or not? Thereafter we have seen the members' inner fights, doping charges, licensing and Govt Nominee membership issues etc.

However the situation has changed now. Everyone wants the bookies back because of the dwindling tote collection and meager tote pay outs. BTC mandarins are serious about bringing back the bookies to BTC as soon as possible. The discussions with the bookies are at a concluding stage along with other details as to where the bookies ‘new ring’ should be, how many stalls to be placed etc. etc. are being finalized soon. We can expect definitely this time the bookies will return to BTC. Operation may start from January 2018.
