The Quality Of Racing At Royal Western Club At Mumbai

By Muneer Mirza | 30-Jan-2018

Mumbai Race Course: The quality of racing at Royal Western Club at Mumbai, once the premier centre for this sport, has seen a sharp deterioration this season. If Pune turned out to be a graveyard for favorites, Mumbai started off on similar lines & continues to worsen the trend. Racing has become unpredictable with most on money favorites playing truant. Horse which win are either too short priced to back or the market behavior makes it very difficult for the average punter to make a decision. Poor cards, with half the races comprising of runners less than 6 or less, confusing fields with a lot of unpredictability form almost every race card. Horses winning without being tracked, sudden reversal of forms, doosras, and top jockeys seen giving jolly good rides as though they're on a country side vacation, have become the order of the day. The Stewards have turned a blind eye to all of this, even at times when it is becomes so apparent that well backed horses are given poor rides right in front of their eyes.

2 class 5 races & 4 class 4 races out of 15 derby weekend races. Very disappointed with the race card. I cancelled my air ticket looking at the acceptances. I dont want to waste my time and money watching class5 and class4 races in mumbai going all the way from hyderbad. I rather watch derby at HRC. Pathetic race card.

Gentlemen Good Morning.
Reference To The Topic.
Yess, Agree The Quality Of Racing Came Down Heavily In RWITC, But The Quality Of Horses, Owners, Trainers And Jockeys Also Came Down Very V V Heavily At All Centers. When Every Thing Came Down, How Racing Standard Will Go Up ? Naturally It Will Suffer And Iz Getting Suffered. But Racing At RWITC Iz Still The Best And At Paaaaaar Az Compared To Other Centers.
That's All Gents.
All The Best.

Good old days, Big Owners and Trainers worked hard to produce Champions (crowd pullers) who could just back them like Bank of England...and once in a way the same Owners/ Trainers would do their doosra dn theesra and although punters would complain, they would always come back as they could always recover from these Big Owners...
Today unfortunately nobody is able to produce the same and therefore the uncertainty...and with bookies kicked out and lousy tote odds people have stopped/ reduced in numbers....All clubs sure have a lot of work cut out to bring them (punters) back

Hi Guys

In 80s 90s 2000 10s the Racing was wonderful. Most of the times the horses used to win as per calculations.

I was out of India last year and this year. If whats said is true, its most unfortunate happening to Racing.

Mumbai Races used to be top class and out of all Centres, in Mumbai it used to be fair Racing. Perhaps, owners like Dr. MAM, Rakesh Wadhwan and Vijaya Mallaya left the industry, the rest of the owners have not filled up the vacuum.

In the name of GST, all clubs have started made up racing.
They have only one intention, that is in any way, take away the poor punters money.

And guess who these people are ???

They are very rich with lots of money, still they indulge in looting the poor man. Greed is in their blood.

Instead of doing some good to society, these corrupt people have become white collared theives, who come well dressed in suit's and boot's.

GOD, save racing.

it is a waste of time playing mumbai races with a 3 or 4 horse field almost half the card
madras races are lot better than mumbai nowadays
