Urine Rules

By Godzilla | 20-Feb-2018
Guys

Its Racing, until the white flag is hoisted, no horse is a clear winner.

In case of Classics, even after winning, the owners should not be presented the Cup before hand on the dais in front of Racing Public. Its almost an honour presented in belief without waiting for formalities to be completed. The Cup and Cheque should be given after clearing all formalities.

Look at Mahateji and the havoc played by the connections. Punters lost Win and Place money. Urine rules in Racing ultimately.

The classic participant horses should be under surveillance 10 days before the event.

In future if any horse is disqualified because of the results, the trainer should be suspended for 3 years and after 3 years the trainer should apply for fresh licence.

Till stringent measures are taken, the connections will continue to play dirty tricks.

I think use of drugs should be punishable according to performance of horse.

AS ITR said, that this drug is used to slower the heart beat. And it cannot be used for winning a race, and Mahetji won.

Had Mahetji been fav. and finished down the field, then punishment should have been given.

And so on for each and every case.

YES SIR,Indian Turf record. You r a very lenient teacher,"ATENOLOL" sir u described it very profously or nicely. But sir IT IS AN PROHIBITED MEDICINE,n that's it n there should be no explanation at all whether done unknowlingly or unintentionally,Sir sorry for the big words "ATENOLOL" is not only to slow down the heartbeat of an animal but it also stabalizes the nerve's, which cud be a big factor on an animals gud or bad performance..IT IS AN OFFENCE SIR..n they truely n deservedly got to be penalised. If horse needs to be medicaded there r the best vets around who knows best.THIS WAS A DERBY SIR.. What r we discussing upon. Anyway for me there is much more to learn n I do not mean to offend sir. THANKS GSL

Agree with ITR, however Gozilla you are looking at punters loosing only from one side...the other is where punters really believed in Mahateji and backed it and won.so in every aspect you have winners and losers. Even in Olympics the winner is disqualified only after many tests and after the medal is given in the podium.
Let’s just leave it for authorities to check and give a proper investigation result.
No doubt it’s sad but that’s life...considering your age I don’t think I need to say that.

Thanks

In that race Selfie star was favourite and he was not on the board so the more people lost Selfie star not winning than Mahetji winning.

@ Godzilla

I fully understand your angst and concern. We have a situation here where punters who should have been paid won't be paid and punters who have actually been paid will not have to refund the dividends. However, I feel this situation is a different subject all together.

Doping is an extremely serious issue in all sports, especially athletics, swimming, gymnastics and cycling. If you read any foreign newspaper, there is hardly any day when there isn't something on it.

I come to Mahateji case. Mahateji has been disqualified because she tested positive for ATENOLOL. Do we know what is ATENOLOL ? Do we know what is the quantum of ATENOL found Mahateji's samples ?

There is considerable anger against the trainer and owners of Mahateji. I can understand that. I also want to point out that they are not fools. (One of Mahateji's owners is Mr. Jhunjhunwalla, the stock market 'guru') Everybody knows that a horse will be sampled after race. Only a fool will give an injection just before the race. I know that I will be screened and frisked before I board a flight. Will I try to board a flight with a six inch knife strapped to my leg ?

The testing procedures are so sophisticated today that they can pick up even minute quantities of a drug. That is why quantity of drug detected is important. Some countries (like India) have zero-tolerance policy so if even a nano gram of prohibited substance is found, the horse is disqualified. Some countries (France, for example) have "threshold levels" which means that small quantities detected are disregarded at the discretion of the Authorities. Both systems have their pros and cons. In America, use of lasix is widely permitted. Lasix masks some drugs. A horse running on lasix will show lasix but drugs will not be detected.

Everyone -- humans, animals -- need medicines every now and then. Many such medicines contain substances which are prohibited. Traces of these medicines go out of our system but the time varies from an individual to individual. So some traces may remain in system for longer time in some individuals.

Yes, if anyone injects any substance willfully to make a horse run faster or slower, he should be punished. But that is very difficult to prove.

This is very vast subject and I am short of time and space.

I will only come back to ATENOLOL. It is a drug to treat hypertension. It slows down heart beat. Is it possible that someone will inject ATENOLOL in a horse to make it run faster ?

I respect your views and I am putting forward some other views for you to consider. Playing devil's advocate if you like.

Best regards
