For imposing suspension, an inquiry has to be held. For inquiry to be held, jockey's riding should be in question.

If jockey's riding is questionable and inquiry is on then we shall talk about the punishment.

But, I do not think that the jockey is being questioned. Of course I am not sure on this.

It is purely the discretion of stewards to order inquiry. When the favorite lost so badly, even if they do not intend to punish jockey, at least to ascertain the facts an inquiry is quiet justified.

But, technically punters not made any bet. Not a single rupee bet from punters [and proportionate gst + club commission from punters]. In what way the club is obliged to you so that they will order inquiry and punish jockey.

Money lost on any horse is lost for ever. Suppose you bet 1OK on any horse and that loses. Your 11k loss cannot be got back. You bet around 12k on an even money horse and can win back that 11k. It is only such thoughts that is deeply drilled into the minds of punters that race course is running.

Punters should not look at each and every case where favorite is lost with suspicion. Kangra finished dead last. 18 lengths behind the winner. An inquiry can be in that race also against the running of Kangra. YRM may be the best horse on that day. But Kangra had no business to finish 1Oth in a 1O horse field.

Finally it is your confidence, your bet amount. If you expected decent returns and backed 1Ok, 2Ok etc on a horse, the only thing that should worry you is your affordability. If you lose 1Ok also, there should be no compromise on your life style. If you are unable to come to terms with 1Ok loss, then bet just 5k or 1k. Even 5OO also no problem. race course will be there till your lifetime. But, if you bet and the horse finishes no where do not call "foul". Even if inquiry is held and jockey sent home with suspension for 1 year what remedy you will get. Forget 11OOO. The glory days of Aslam, Shroff, Malesh Narredu is over. Those days, a punter can reasonably hope his bet wins. Of course no guarantee, but only hope. The club administration was reasonable and strict. Particularly Mum and Bng. [there was no 1O% bet so openly, and in such a massive scale].

1) The motive of pulling these horses?
2) Was the slow going Race Track of 20 may and heavy imposts the reason for their failure?
3) Were these horses short of work and prep.?

Their is a fair chance of your knowing a few reasons of their failure.

After Pradeep Chauhan who has rightly been suspended...it's high time that Suraj too, is treated in a similar manner. Only then, will the lesser mortals learn the ethics of fair racing!
