Who seeks total ban on illegal betting? If its the ministry, then its laughable, because betting is illegal due to the reason that it is banned. So how can a government ban which is already illegal??

They also want regulation in existing betting sports like Horse Racing

Mad Max, I just quoted hon'ble Supreme court's comments about horse racing while delivering the judgement. I am not mixing any thing. As far as bookmakers in the ring arelpppppp concerned everybody knows what they are doing to evade taxes. Illegal things they are doing in legal way and despite knowledge race clubs are not taking any action. Every one also knows what for punters going to race course? For gambling or entertainment? Betting on horses is legally allowed but how everybody is doing betting that also a well known fact.If online betting is allowed and legalized it will benefit and convenient to all. It is only a suggestion I don't think Govt will legalise gambling.

Instead of five slabs in GST Govt is planning to reduce it to 3/4 slabs only. If that happens GST on racing will be brought under 20% this news is more important for me.

What is happening at the turf is SPORTS, the skill aspect mentioned by the Apex Court is put in by the Trainers and Jockeys. And what is happening at the RINGS is simply GAMBLING, including that of bookmakers skill, So dont mix both.

Sir, Two three years back Lodha committee also submitted its detailed report in Supreme Court covering the legalization of betting in sports aspect. The Lodha committee was looking at that time mainly about illegal bettings in India particularly about betting in cricket matches. But later recommended in general also for legalization of betting in all sports. Horse racing was earlier in gambling act but after a ban in Chennai a case was fought in Supreme Court and finally hon'ble court removed horse racing from gambling act and put under sports category and also mentioned as racing is a game of intelligence. Now clearance from law commission for online betting is really a good news. Hope all concerned State Governments and Govt. at central will clear this proposal. If really it is allowed on line than more transperancy will be there and govts tax revenue collection will increase manifold. Online betting should be allowed for all sports.
