Pace Of The Race And Going...

By S C Sharma | 14-Jul-2018

Weather at Bangaluru remains likely to be cloudy during derby weekend races with chances of rain also not ruled out. Under such situation the pace of the race and going will play vital role in deciding the derby winner. Out of seven derby contenders only Poseidon and Sir Cecil capable of going front or other words likes front running if allowed. Other horses including Star Superior likes waiting race. If the going remains on soft side than the task of horses likes waiting race will become more difficult.

In all probability Poseidon will goes to the front, Sir Cecil will sit second or close third and immediately rounding the bend goes to the front and if he opens a gap of more than 3-4 lengths than it will be difficult for others; Star Superior to turn the table, maximum he can reduce the gap. In colts trial it was observed Sir Cecil was fighting for his head to go to front. Jockey Neeraj with great difficulty manages to settle him second and not allowed to go him to the front as per his liking. Only after entering the straight he allowed Sir Cecil to go the font and last furlong both SC and SS used the whip freely to get going their mounts. One more important point after the last run SS not given much work particularly over mile, and SC given four workouts over mile including one in inner sand track.

The reasons are best known to the trainers. In view of the fact of pace of the race and going and blood line of dam side both SC and SS edge goes in favour to SC to maintain its winning record intact.

A fav rarely wins derby. So play anything other than a fav. Star superior seems a better bet considering failures of favs in derby.

RANJEET is right Last run S S. was gaining on him and another 30 mtrs would have beaten him.

I agree with Godzilla only it will be S.S. who will win by 2 to 4 lts. Forget other horses they are Far too behind

In a 2000 mtrs race horses set their own pace as trained by the trainer, So runaway tactics do not matter here.

IT HAS become a big prestige issue with Suraj [why? it is only a race ]to win here. HE HAS SKIPPED SAT AND SUNDAY all races for this only.

Sir Cecil is a giant and rude horse. Neeraj was looking like an ant on an elephant and unable to settle the horse till bend during last run. Finally the horse got settled of its own accord.

Trevor has powerful shoulders and is likely to settle the horse quickly. Trevor on Sir Cecil will win by four lengths mainly due to his riding skills. Star Superior cannot match strides with Sir Cecil.

Go for a win on SIR CECIL without any reservations.
