Desert God

By Ayyarnet | 23-Jul-2018
Desert God ran a good race but in my opinion tge horse won thecrace with the cooperation of other horses. Except Sana oractically no challenge from other horses.
6 year old horse with top weight running with younger horses ran and won 2800 mtrs start to finish attempt
without any challenge from other horses.
Jicjeys of Salazar and Romantic star ride arm chair ride
only. I remembered the good olden days scnerio when MAM Ramaswamy Horse takes a lead other horses will not challange the horse and his horse will win hands with
B.prakash astride.
There must be some effort ti challengecthe leading Horse.

Regards to all

Wow What a great job Paddy has done to bring back a horse who had flopped and gone sour. This is what a champion trainer can achieve with a good horse. Well done Mr. Paddy.

There are many who tipped Desert God in the horse talk.

It is an exceptionally good horse. No doubt about that. The stake money it has earned is highest and Salazar is no match to that horse. All this agreed.

But, we also aware that its ambitious foreign trip ended in disaster. So, our [indian's] limitations were severely exposed because the trainer/owner thought too much about that horse.

Then came the 18OOm race where it would have been wiser if the horse has not given entry. There it lost. Dead last. And, if you expect all punters to bet on that at 7/1 in a 5 horse field, then I do not know what to say. Desert God had its quota of bets. May be from 1O% of bettors. The rest were either betting on Salazar or Sana. Those who backed the fancied horse lost. There is no shame in that. Those who backed Desert God won. They need not go crowing about that.

Ayyarnet felt that there is some cheating in Desert God's win. Of all horses, Desert God does not require any cheating to win. The fact that Desert God remained in front throughout the 28OOm run might have tempted him to come to that conclusion. A look at the record timing and the time taken by Desert God to complete the 28OOm would have been sufficient to stop him from making any hasty statement. O K. We will give him one excuse on that count.

This was my conclusions after the race.Sir Cecil was Neeraj's mount, which was given to Trevor and so paddy wanted to return the favour by giving Neeraj St.leger race as a gift.Am sure if Trevor was riding Desert God most of them would have fancied it,since Desert God was not at his best during its last run and could have improved after its last run.I saw Trevor trying to block the passage of Salazar during the race, which was probably the winning team's tactics but that was not needed in the end because Salazar didn't show any spark in the straight.
How I wish I thought about all these things before the races.......
That's the trill of horse racing and gambling......
Thanks

Desert God, winner of Indian Derby and Invitation Cup, having matched strides with top class horses abroad - pitted against a highly mediocre field. Next, underestimating Paddy, surely punters' folly. The horse was a cinch at lucrative odds. For some it was just a case of sour grapes. Class always deserves respect,be it a horse or its trainer.

I did not find fault with the Horse Desert God But I wanted to tell that there was no challenge from other horses absolutely.

I have also backed Desert God since thetrainer paddy has put two horses in the same race. In similar occassion I always take a chance with Horses with better odds than the other.

It looke all other jockeys knew very well that the DG should win
That point only I wanted to bring to the notice of friends. Only Srinath with Sana tried to challenge the Horse. Unfortunately the staying power was not much for Sana. Otherwise the horse could have gone bit closer to the winner.

Desert God's Record in Bangalore has one blemish and that was his first run in over a year, over a distance shorter than he prefers, this Run was far above average and his smooth running made it seem like others were uninterested only if you ignore the timing which is a fraction short of the record without extending him. he needed a mock race and a prep run and fared decent in the mock race his prep run was hmmmm a prep run what do you expect.... any distance above 2400 mtrs is very well within his strides.

Ayyarnet is a nut. I had very confidently backed Desert God for win at 7.3/4 eventhough it was available at 5/2 for place. Plesae understand in any walk of life class is permanent and form is temporary. In fact some in our group had recovered the entire loss they had made during this Bangalore summer

No one gifts a race worth rs 22 lakhs Just forget it.

Paddy fooled every one by quietly preparing D.G. and gave many tracks to R Star aided by putting Trevor on it

I was lucky Sana gave 12/10 for place good enough for me.

Desert God is a champion horse and he proved it. He has done it earlier also. I played at 10/1 last Time and again backed it at 8/1 yesterday.
