Everybody in a spree on congratulating you, well done dear,

but no one questioned why your own selection you didn't kept in both the JP's, I mean Cavarozzi was your choice for Derby, but was not there in both of your JP's why?

For healthy discussion sake I am taking forward this matter where ended by Godzilla and he really pointed very good valid points to remember. 

1) Before derby everyone accusing RWITC for poor field and not expecting such a close finish, so many of them proved wrong.

2) except Knotty Ash and Cavarozzi all other five runners were testing the distance first time, so though connections might have fancied their wards they were not involved in huge betting. Normally what happened when stake money is in multi million owners remain happy in winning the stake instead of involving themselves in big betting . This is also one of the reason no horse was odds on and all horses offered good odds for win and place.

3) Godzilla pointed out very truly the poor timing of the race, compare to the timings of other races of the day. The reason Cavarozzi set a moderate pace and the timings were really not fast as expected even though all first three finishers totally emptied their gas and nothing more remained with them to further accelerate. This again points that though their connections might fancy these first three  finishers in one and half mile Mumbai derby they are not expected to come in first three places. They all are not good stayers and extension of further distance will not be to their liking and will not  be true to their potential.

4) No doubt Trevor deserves compliment to extract that little extra from Pioneer to edge out other two in SNK and SHD only .00.05 seconds difference between first three participating colts yet I would like to compliment jockeys of second and third placed horses for not accepting the defeat till last stride and they rode with full vighour and confidence and to maximum as per their potential. Pioneer emerged winner in only last two stride. Probably riding big races experience came handy and fruitful for Trevour. This close finish in seven horse field will be remembered for long.

GARGAV:  Your comments are faraway from the truth. You are sitting inside the house with door and widows closed and also put the curtains. How you will see the sunlight?  First of all refer the records again carefully, which is available in HTwithout biased attitude and than place the facts. Don't torn or destroy the facts. It take years to build a record and reputation with years of hardwork  and only seconds to destroy. I always welcome healthy criticism.  Personal  comments don't distract me from what I am doing. As far as regular posting of selections is concerned some time it is not possible to post due to number of inevitable reasons for which explanation can't be given. I do it for my self satisfaction and some times I share and sometimes not. I don't think I am under any binding to do so . Thanks. God bless you.

Today Trevor has proved how inferior  a rider PSC is just a change of jockey and pioneer showed out.  How many races has PSC thrown away on this horse. Lord commander is another. Example. Stay away from PSC. Bo5h these horses have proved his caliber.

Odds on winner Ruffina after deducting tax for me is as good as lost. Only owner wins not even you. And also your Desperado lost in the derby. In other words we both were sinking in same boat. As per your advice I stayed at home and never lost. I don't know about you? For your information, I don't have access to Indian racing due to my location.

As posted early, I played  Ruffina.As I take horses by their face value and my gut feeling. My only worry(As  I play in terms of petis) was, what if Ruffina  does not get passage as it comes from back.Finally It was quite profitable.

As to Derby and next race  its Trevor who won the race not horses. I fancied Pioneer and played it when it lost  to Excellent last time. I wish i had pursued it. Hats off to Trevor.

It should be good to see champion sprinter Ruffina stride out on the Pune racecourse. Over 1200M, she should give weight and beating to this field.

The Derby field is small. Maybe it's because of the jinx. Apparently the winner of Pune Derby doesn't win anything of note later. Unless it's named Quasar. But exceptions prove the rule, I guess. There are 3 prime contenders - Excellent, Pioneer and Desperado.

Excellent has stamina limitations. Excellent Art has not produced stayers - except Selfie Star. As per Maj. Nargolkar, his dam too is not from a stayers' line. So, what's Excellent doing here? It's his three stylish and easy wins which make him a contender. 

Pioneer ran last in Excellent's last race and came with a rattle towards the finish. His sire Phoenix Tower has not produced any stayers' - except Rochester who is the exception to the rule. His dam Riyasat was a stayer but bear in mind that she was a fluke winner (15/1) of the Oaks and did not win a race afterwards.

So, in my mind both Excellent and Pioneer are suspect stayers, while Desperado is from Win Legend - the Sire of the Year! Desperado's last win was impressive and I believe he will win the Derby - mainly because Win legend is on a roll. You gotta roll with the trends, as any Roulette player will tell you. Pioneer is the danger horse.
