SHORTLIST, ABNALYSIS, & SELECTIONS

1) FIRE FLAME won clocking 59.55 and on the same day BONAFIDE clocked 1.05 secs but did not get clear passage and the winner DANCE OF FIRE clocked 59.69. So at least on papr FIRE FLAME is 3 lengths better but FIREFLAME is up 4 kgs whereas BONAFIDE carries the same weight.

2) TIMELESS DEEDS came flying over 1400 in Class II whereas SPITFIRE has not run for 4 months and tracks are not conclusive but we can trust Shorff & hope the Leigh Roche can triumph

3) MOUNT OLYMPUS, BETWEEN THE WATERS & ARABIA all have a chance

4) Although POKER FACE is now WORSE OFF in weights than GOLDFIELD & RIQUEWAR WHEN THEY RAN LAST TIME,  POKERFACE WAS SPEEDING AWAY from the other two and can repeat with the EXCELLENT TRACKS he is showing.

5) INTENSE STLIST DAYS BEST...should win on tight reins

6) Although HYANNIS was slowly off over 1200 with a lousy rider, he went away flying but is conceding 10 kgs to well bred EL COMMANDANTE who has the BEST TRACKS in this lot

In The Maharaja of Morvi Trophy, Intense Stylist and Merlot renew their rivalry at same weights but with change of riders - IS gets upgrade from Zervan to Trevor and Merlot gets PSC in place of Sandesh.

IS ran gamely in the Pune race and would have won barring intense riding by Akshay Kumar on Truly Epic. So, IS is a prime contenders here.

Anatevka comes next but does not impress me. The foreign jockey can only do so much. After all it is the horse who has to run not the jockey. Anatevka needs more experience.

Merlot ran well while placing 3rd to Truly Epic. At one time it looked like Merlot was going to coast along, such was her acceleration in the straight. This full-sister of Tintinnabulation needs to make up 1.75 lengths on IS and in the Mumbai straight she may overhaul IS. PSC has not been in the best of form, but if he shows even 80% of his old craft, he can romp home.

My pick is Merlot from IS.

Jockey Leigh Roche has a very pathetic record of just 1 win from his 21 mounts..... speaks of him..

2-3 Spitfire. Ooty Derby contender ; Leigh Roche to guide. Weak set
