Back to listsAstrology And Racing - Aren't They 2 Different Poles?
By Smart-still-poor-punter | 04-Dec-2018Hi Friends,
There are a large number of punters who, rather than believing in their inherent talent to 'unearth' a winning or placing horse, unfortunately go by number, color and time, and, if you ask them, will readily attribute everything to astrology. I just can't help myself laughing...loudly!
I remember during my racing days at least 2 or 3 friends used to come rushing to me and tell "Sir, today no.4 in race no.3 has to win because you count the race no, horse no, and draw no. it comes to 9. Today is the day for no. 9". When the horse loses badly, he will not be seen anywhere.
There are "god-fearing" people who, instead of giving up racing in the name of god, will confuse the punters by bringing in astrology into racing in all possible forms.
There was one day when a punter, having lost heavily in all the races, was waiting for a big hit in the last race. But a good friend of his, came running to him and advised to bet on no.1 and "take back" all his loss (how easy to say?) for the day. When queried, the 'astrologist' said "it has to be no.1 because numbers point to that...see how no.1 has won in all the previous races". He convinced the hapless punter by showing no.1 either in the number of the horse or his draw number. The victim stood to lose and the astrologer looked for 'one' final escape.
I believe in astrology but not for racing purposes (when i was punting). They are two different poles that can only spoil a person in all possible ways when brought together. Am I right?
