2000 Guineas Day card looks tricky. Expect upsets..

Race #1: Flaming Martini has matched strides with much better horses and should win in this class. The only others with any kind of form are  Wabi Sabi, a distance winner in Pune, and Brave, a winner over 1000M. This pair should follow Flaming Martini home.

Race #2: Quite an open affair with three out four runners having a realistic chance of winning. New England is in crackling form, having placed second behind Cambridge and Mauritania. Costa Brava scored a fluent victory and has been heavily penalised. Grand Accord has won four out of his last five races - a record we should respect. It's a difficult race and my choice would be Grand Accord considering the pull in the weights he enjoys.

Race #6: Enough has been written about 2000G in other threads. The best horse in the country Sir Cecil should win untroubled.

2.00 #3 COSTA BRAVIA is clearly in a great heart at present and to be followed over middle distances until beaten. 

2.30 Speedy #3 RIQUEWIHR is entitled to strip fitter for her reappearance victory last month and has an useful 5kg allowance for a repeat. Strong fancy. 

3.00 #1 EL COMANDANTE strips fitter after a nice lung opener over a mile back from the spell. Now drops in grade and will appreciate the sprint trip. While #4 SHARAREH is the one to keep an eye on.

3.30 #6 PEERLESS looks a speedy sort and can strike on debut. Is drawn well. 

4.00 The highest rated multi classic winner #7 SIR CECIL has oodles of class to see him through and keep his unbeaten record intact. 

4.30 Consistent #4 CHOSEN ONE has some very decent runs in the bank and can score an overdue win.

5.00 It’s becoming frustrating to follow #3 BOTTEGA LOUIE but in my view she will appreciate the step up to 7 furlongs and can be given one more chance before writing her off.
