I had the same experience back in 2011 in chennai. I dont remeber the horse name but it was CS jodha who was riding. I was new to chennai had the habit of playing in bangalore and mysore totes.

when i check the odd of pune it was showing INR95 for shp and 25 for place and i played 2000 shp and 5000 place and horse became 2nd 

the shocker was i got back the same amount i played for thats is 7000. I tried to ask the tote guy but he was talking in tamil so i could hardly understand him.

Waste of playing in tote in Chennai 

Everyone says  ticket price is just 5rs but no use better to play in bookies or else in   Bangalore totes are good  once I had experience  in Chennai  I played 500Rs in  tote   place in bookies it was given @2 oods  and i played place in tote  they gave me  the same 500rs  return to me and I asked wat is this they told   this only it shows to return   so be carefull  play totes only in bangalore

Do not play more than 25/-  on above pools at Chennai.  Even that is excessive.  But let us be liberal to some extent.

Play, trinella, mini jackpot & jackpot only at Chennai.  And for trinella do not invest more than 50/- per race.

You said on one horse that you got 9/- dividend.  Luckiest man. 

Even at other centers also.  Say Hyd, MUM, Kol also, at tote do not bet more than 700/- for win/shp/place.  Bangalore is only a shadow of past.  But, I think you can take a chance up to 5000 at BNG.  Earlier (before gst) I have seen bets of one lakh, two lakh also at BNG tote!

What is your home town?  Was that your first visit to Chennai?  Can anybody be so innocent.  At least you should have asked some elderly people there before parting with yur cash. 

Don't blame MRC. They r doing Excellant jobs inspite of limited skilled and experienced persons available due to retairement. Secondly if ur interested only Tote TKTS then u must play at Hydrabad or bangalore.not in chennai.u got RS.5/ for ago means your the only persons amount collected in that pool so dividend will be less.instead u played that amt in bookie wud have got big amount.

Am from Hyd and I visited almost all clubs except Pune and Kol....I've been into racing since 6yrs but never knew abt MRC. As I had our professional conference at CTC, I had been in Chennai.While entering, I enquired a local elderly punter abt tote and told even that I play big, but he dint warn me...but that cost me so much..never heard of zero profit returns for Shp....how can they fool so much...

But my anger cooled down today by the grace of bookies there...Really they r very pleasant n polite compared to Hyd.... Got 16/10 returns for Optimistic Approach place which I played 40k and 2.5 returns for Noble Saphhire win for 25k, though I lost 20k on Birchwood place.

Yes I fully agree with you about MRC. It is lousy and the entrance is stinging. Off course betting centres in Bangalore are lots better than MRC,

You can actually ask the administration details of number of tickets sold and other information related to the Tote dividend.
