He came to India and rode for pesi shroff and Dr. Mallya. He won just a couple of races for these connections one of it being on a horse called Sea Spray. He came into limelight when he rode 40/1 chance Desert Lightning to victory in the Indian 1000 Guinness. He came back next year and started riding for Dr. MAM Ramaswamy and rode haunting memories in breeders produce stakes winning it. He finished second in invitation on flashing Star. He came back third year and then it was year of dusras. He won derbies(bangalore, kolkatta) and few other classics on lesser fancied horse and prakash riding the favorites. This trend went on in Indian derby as well where he won on Diabolical beating Red hot favorite Southern Empire. He also won the Poonawala Breeders Multi-million on Bourbon King and favorite was Our Excellence from same stables=Ryan Moore was riding the favorite finished third. He came for next year and won on sweeping success in 1000 Guinness, Indian Oaks and Bourbon King in 2000 Guineas and Ruia Cup. He rode Bourbon King in Indian Derby and  finished 4th.  After that year for few years MAM stable was not at its best and Gallagher and CD Hayes rode a few important winners for the stable. Colm made a comeback for Shapoorjis after a gap of almost 4/5 years and was supposed to ride Phoenix Tiger in poonawala breeders multi-million but horse was withdrawn. And next year he came back to win the 2000 Guinness on the same horse. After that he has not won any significant race in India but is a highly skilled and respected rider. You cannot compare David Allans success with his cause David rides for the best stable in India. And when Colm was riding for the best stable at that time of Dr. MAM he looked simply unbeatable. Both r excellent riders and it would be unfair to compare them. Horses and stable form make a jockey look outstanding and poor form of a stable even makes a best rider look weak. 

Rahul is right. Alpha Centauri is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. In 2018 she recorded four consecutive Group 1 races, namely the Irish 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes, Falmouth Stakes and Prix Jacques Le Marois. All riden by Colm until she retired so he has evan won the Guineas in 2018. How can he be ober the top. The horses he rides here dont stay 2400 mtrs so why blame a top class jockey.

Colm first came to india in early 2000s on the recomendations of Pesi for Vijay mallya , he rode 1 mumbai season in mallya colors and then i believe due to financial differences took a hiatus frm indian racing scene for 1-2 years   He was then hired by Dr ramaswamy who at that time had the services of Prakash colm and rajendra and thats the time the great"doosras" came into play.. "Diabolical defeating Mystical".

Colm has ridden Alpha Centauri to many graded wins this year. The 36 year old is been a part of the Ballydoyle for 2 decades he also rides for Mick Halford, John Oxx and Harrington.  Couple of years ago he rode the double 2000 gunnies winner Phoenix Tiger for the Manjri Stud and owners. Good to see him back in India. He is having a super season in Dubai and Japan this year. Hes far from over the top.

Inspite of Rochester's Indian derby victory, progenies of Phoenix tower are hit or miss over longer distances... So can't really blame colm O donoghue for peluche's defeat.... And owners are not dumb enough to bring a foreign jockey if his 'magic' has lost 

I agree with Godzilla. Colm is not in good touch these days. Close to being over the hill!

2. Jim Crowley;

3. Silvestre De Sousa-- who has won the blue riband on Antonious;

4- Chris Lumaire-the French pro.

donahue was riding in india for Dr. MAM, and other top owners, he is even better than allan, he has won indian derby and so many classics in india, great rider.

He is more than 40+...He has very good riding skill and don't believe Shapoor mistrey horses...play Ramaswamy horse. It's very tuff to judge jockies.
