Even if Vintage wins the Bangalore Derby, it is difficult for it to run another gruelling 2400m race in a week's time thereafter (2nd Feb), and even more difficult for it to win.    Not every horse can be a Diabolical who beat Southern Empire within a week after winning the Deccan Derby (reason being, that was a "fixed" race by the same owner).   So, imho simply forget Vintage.

There are only three horses to fight out for  the Indian Derby. Make your selection from these three horses only:

1)  Sir Cecil  ( If fully fit, will be hard to down, but the question of being fully fit will be very difficult to answer till the last day)

2) Adjudicate, will give a great fight, has a very good chance to win the Indian derby. 

3) Star Superior, seems to have improved further, can not be ruled out at all.

There is only one place which can go out of the above three horses

If SS connections were interested in winning a Derby ,they could have taken the horse to Hyderabad were the field will be poor and the class of SS would have carried through to win. They are doubtful of the horse's ability to stay and they might have preferred to lose in strong field than in a poor field to spoil the reputation. 

We are forgetting about BUSHTOPS which beat Smasher, conquerer of Roberta and Smasher subsequently won by a distance. So BUSHTOPS can trounce Roberta.

If BUSHTOPS is entered then Adjudicate connections should get a good jockey since Sandesh will ride Bushtops.

Derby winner is going to be from Sir Cecil, Adjudicate and BUSHTOPS.

For me the result would be Adjudicate, Bushtops,Sir Cecil and Star Superior.

The horses to take on Sir Cecil in Derby are: 

1.  La Rondine

2.  Arabia

3.  Sacred Roman

4.  Roberta..... 

I like Arabia the most as its pedigree ( Multidimensional -  Adamile)  not only bred to stay for longer distances like 2400 meters but also can run afront & can come from behind....  Equally well bred is La Rondne..... these two should deifinitely be there and Jockey partnering them is os majof concern..... Arabia with Akshay Kumar who lost whip in guinneas  in the last 200 m.... should have a bold show....

I had mentioned in a post on 27th November that there is a hidden horse who is all set to beat or come close to Sir Cecil. 

VINTAGE is expected to run the Bangalore Derby and if he does, he'll hack the field. He is and can be the only threat to the might Sir Cecil.

Re your calculations of Exception vs Adjudicate, and Roberta vs Exception. I am afraid you have got it all wrong.

Shivansh beat Exception in race 117 by over 10 lengths, Adjudicate beat Shivansh by well over 15 lengths.in the Kolkata Derby, on a tight rein.   This makes Adjudicate a good 25+ lengths better than Exception, who got beat by Roberta in the Indian Oaks by about 5 lengths, even when Roberta was fully extended by a class IV animal Eyes For You.   So Roberta is out, IMHO.

In view of the above, it is my humble submission that Adjudicate cannot be dismissed easily for the Indian Derby.   Its amazing turn of foot in the last 3 winning runs at Kolkata will make it a formidable force to reckon with against the likes of Sir Cecil, Star Superior, etc.    As a matter of fact, SS struggled to beat Sacred Roman, a class Iii animal.   And why do you forget that SS had also run close to SC over 1600mtrs in Bangalore.

Whether Adjudicate will beat SC or not is of course debatable, but my money will be on Adjudicate (more in place in 30/20/50 ratio).   I am sure its place payout will be more than the win payout on SC.

Sir cecil is tracking the way as last years derby favourite Prevalent Force beating class 3 horses. only horse is Star Superior , SS has problems too, in derby he cant sustain final 600 mts as he has tendency whenever he is in pressure although he has Suraj Narredu i think he wont stay the trip and cant be in top 5, The front running tactic of sir cecil is a main disadvantage to him, as his sister already won indian derby (hall of famer) he likes to run in a fast paced race, but if the pace is slow he may find difficult to match strides with other horses. Pesi is getting ready for the big da. Let acceptance come, ill post my analysis in full detail.

Just remember Southern Empire, Set Alight, Be Safe, a lot of horses have picked up form and have matured well like Roberta, ADJUDICATE, Bushtops too has improved going by the improvement of Star superior he seems ready to take on the longer trip even though pedigree isn't the staying type. Sir Cecil Will not have his cake easy as he did in the past. Its a whole new ball game now. But I hope he does when we expect him to do..

Noble Eagle (P Belose up) set the pace and Zurbaran ( Aslam Khader up) could not judge the pace and lost.

Now with David Allan , the best judge of pace, no such scenario. Don’t search for an upset, Sir Cecil is home and dry.

If you see braided mane hair of Sir Cecil during pre-parade of Indian derby, just ignore it and go for Adjudicate.

SC will not win Indian Derby. Why are we bothered though if it's win or not .are we going to play on it @40/100.  Most of us go to race to earn money, if there is no betting none of us will visit race course just to see races . Look for some horses which will fetch us good odds 

SC will win the Derby. Tendon or splint he will still win. Adujicate coming from Calcutta after beating all class 4 horses who cant win in Western India like oriana has no chance. SS is a Excellent Fart will not stay. Roberta runs the invitation so who will beat the mighty SC. NO ONE.

Just a hypothesis if SC does not win, who is it going to be then? Id go with Roberta after todays run! 

SC is the monster of all the horses in India, never ever think of beating this horse now till he run like a machine.

Sir Cecil will not win derby

Adjudicate didn't do well against Mumbai horses and was shunted out to Kolkata. On other hand, Sir Cecil came to Mumbai and trounced Mumbai horses. So, I'm unable to understand by which leap of faith can one predict that Adjudicate will beat SC. If SC is fit, then barring accidents he will win Indian Derby.
