Does The 'vengeance Run' By 'star Superior' Look Justified?

By Smart-still-poor-punter | 04-Feb-2019

Hi Friends,

Like many others, I was also 'dead' sure that the over-hyped Sir Cecil will bite the dust in Indian Derby. And without any difficulty, it happened. But to be very honest, I, like many others, never thought that Star Superior will be the conqueror. Either Adjudicate or a rank-outsider, I thought.

Having lost to Sir on three earlier occasions, I never felt that the Star will be able to prove its supremacy. For records sake, this is the biggest upset in India's biiggest race for several years.

While I am not here to degrade Star's stunning win, I am unable to digest how easily the vengeance run was enacted? I was expecting a devil's dash by many horses but most of them went a damp squib?

While Narredus will be rejoicing over the win, how many punters would have enjoyed it economically? I do not if one out of 50 punters would have bet on the ultimate winner. The horse was being discounted even for a place.

If you look into the number of upsets in the other races on Derby day, it sounds terrible. What happened to the fancied lot in many races. Whenever the first favourite loses, on a Classic day it usually used to be from among the second, third or fourth favourites, but here we saw rank outsiders dominating in many races.

At the end of the day (going by the hefty JP payout of over Rs.4.8 lakhs on every 18 winning tkts), I feel that punters had a very bad day at office and that does not augur well for the future of Indian racing.

And like all others on the forum who mostly speak through their pockets, you are no different my friend. Please understand that Sir Cecil was the best 4 year old in the country and Star Superior was the second best. If the best horse developed a tendon issue and was not fully fit, what will happen? The second best horse will win and thats what happened. Full credit to Star Superior, he is a good horse, and he won handsomely. he had c,oscked 2:01 in the Ruia covering over 10 lengths in the straight, hands n heels and won. Rochester had timed 2:01 in the Ruia last year so history repeated itself. Adjudicate and the others are ordinary and will not win in this company. Sir Cecil came back lame and it was heartening to see such a brave horse walk back after the race without his rider and his head and neck held low. He knew he had failed himself on the grandest stage of the Indian racing calendar. Not his fault, he had done everything right beaten everyone out of sight, adjudicate came second because SS was unfit else he would have finished over 5 lengths behind the top two. I backed the Sir too, but instead of cribbing about losses, I stood up and clapped for him, for what he had done. hopefully, he will recover and come back with a bang.

So instaead of cribbing and complaining about monetary and econmic benefits and losses, you guys should stand up, salute a great horse called Sir Cecil and applaud the winner, Star Superior.

Cheers,

Jimmy

Paddy does it again!

There was Beckett losing to Poonawalas Change of Luck.

Then Desert God losing to Mistrys' Mogadishu in Mysore Derby.

And now Sir Cecil. PaddyPaddy u a not-fit horse in a big race like Indian Derby, odds going up from 70p to 11/10, what does this tell you? Some people are richer by several big ones.

@boosa As a racing enthusiast I'm telling(not wise person or punter) No one wants to lose the Indian derby either breeder owner trainer or jockey..horse was not fit that's why they taken 40+ days rest.. I don't think it will revise the table on invitation just 30 days left..only if Paddy has magical hand ..

Dear racing patrons ,

Watch the Derby race ridden by David Allan  coming in to the straight  taking the lead he  repeatedly sits on the saddle bluffing like a hard ride. Please see the race compare other Allan ride on sir Cecil. This race his gifted to poonawallas watch out for the invitation cup sir Cecil will donkey lick star superior. Comments please wise punters

What is there to justify. Fitter horse on the d day has won. Why do you expect SC to go on and on forever

Yes. Fully Justified. Jockey Suraj Narredu excelled. I agree I was taken aback that STar S stayed very well. Infac, he was full of running till the Winning Post.

Either Sir C was not fully fit or he cannot stay or a combination of bothtyime will tell. Sir C was a beaten horse at the distance post and the Jockey- David Allan knew it and thus did not punish him any further.

Jockey Sandesh gave Adjudicate an average ride. Adjudicate finished second on default.

What was also disappointing was the way Jockey Srinath rode Sacred Roman. I had in an earlier post recommended that the Roman be ridden in check. That he finished 4th is very creditable.

All in all a decent Derby but nothing electrifying!!

Cheers

This is RWITC's way of over-comming the huge losses it is facing.

Expect much, much more of the same in the comming day's.

It's digging their own graves before their time is up.

Surely, the way for punters to stop going to RWITC.

Very bad day at office. Some results really stunning. However, The 3 fancied runners did have reasons to lose and their records were overbearing. SAA noth run for months, DG also longish layoff and SC under a cloud. The 3 will be different proposition in the Invitation weekend and should get better odds to recoup losses.

The Flash of grey to me was doubtful for the Derby, nevertheless, I like this Horse not for Betting but for other Reasons as an animal lover, My hopes were pinned in Bushtops and Sacred Roman to win I felt that David Allen chased Vallegro  unnecessary while Suraj was right behind Cecil and watching his moves when he knew that Allen was chasing a mediocre horse Suraj kept his cool till the front runners shot their bolts. While others emptied their tanks Suraj kept his fuel reserved for an all-out effort and even more to spare. The Judgment was precise and the winner was well ahead..

Distance counted 2400 meters, which was the big difference from all Star Superior tried to beat SIR CECIL in many occasion but being short distance could not make it, if you see the last race when Sacred Roman was leading and then Star superior Came and beat him by Half a length from behind , this very race I was certain STAR SUPERIOR WILL DO IT THIS INDIAN DERBY. See the way Trainers and Jockeys are preparing for big days, I would say if it 1600 or 1800 it would have been SIR CECIL, since it’s 2000, 2200 or 2400 meters my choice would be STAR SUPERIOR, this horse is galloping very swiftly when it’s distance, SURAJ REMAINDED the horse by just few soft hits.
