The rules say that there should be weigh-in and horses that does not weigh-in or their weight shows huge variation should be disqualified.  To that extent stewards action is correct.  When there are specific rules / or precedents / or conventions the stewards have no option  but to follow them.

Some people suggested that horse should not be disqualified; but at best should be declared a non starter.  In this particular case, that sounds reasonable.  However if there are specific rules/ conventions/ precedents, the stewards can not ignore them and indulge in  appeasing the punters.

I know, there are many who tried to grab the 'pick-up' money by playing that horse for place.  (60 ps).  I do sympathise with them.

I do not agree with those who argue that horse should be declared non starter & money should be refunded.  If an odds on favorite loses, all that the jockey has to do is to avoid  'weigh-in' and ensure money back to the punters.

It is surprising and sometime amusing  to read various  posts which  have no  logical  back-up  or  correct  perception  of  a problem/situation...

If  rider  does  not  'weigh  in'  after  the  race the  runner  will  be  disqualified - is  a wellknown  fact, even  if  he/she  wins  the  race!

Many  times , in the  past 30/40  years, some  daring  and  'well-  protected' - l'ower'   category  riders  have  done  this. Somtimes, 'they' ( who -  jockey  or  trainer?!!!)  have   made  a  hole  in  the  'weight sack'  sothat  during  race  a  part  of  the  'dead' - weight'  is  lost  during  running!!!

Jockeys used  to be  banned for  few  months,  very  few  times  for a  year  or  more - NEVER FOR  LIFE,  which  is  done  in  Australia  and  some  other  countries...

We  don't do  that - because  we  are  Indians ...

1) who is  responsible to ensure wheather jockey has weighed in.

To best of my knowledge there is only one exit for jockeys in paddock area.

If club ensures no punter enters race course without entry ticket it is certainly criminal negligence of club to let jockey out without weigh in.

Disqualification is ok but what about the loss punters incurred by playing shp or place? What is their fault? Tomorrow a favourite win and if jockey failed to weigh in than the favourite will be disqualified and punters will suffer. Actually jockey should be penalized by levying heavy fine or suspension because this is total negligence on his part and it is difficult to understand whether he did so  intentional or accidential. In such cases culprit is jockey not the horse or owner who looses the rank and prize for their no fault.

Jockey Md. Ismail failed to weigh in after the race. Hence Starboy was disqualified. But I surely feel, that it is gross injustice to all those punters, who may have played Star boy for place. Truly they were not at fault. There is every chance that weighing in was not done, deliberately. So what I feel is that, in such cases as these, the punters who had bet on starboy must get their money refunded. And this refunded amount should be collected as fine from the respective jockey and their connections. Just disqualification alone does not suffice full justification.

Punters didn't what is going on there, we all know the reason, y the star boy disqualified. But still, it is a cheating all the punters ,how v know that.it is the job 2 check the jockey whether the jockey weighted or not. They are all making fool of us .announce nonstarter, we invest lot of money ,they will do like this ?cheating

There has been so many talks about the race.  But if the Jockey fails to weigh in, then it is not the mistake of punters.  Those who have backed for Place were the most sufferers for unknown reasons.   The horse came and finished close 2nd, and if the jockey fails to weigh-in, let a fine of hefty amount be given to him or otherwise let the horse be declared Non Starter.  Why should punter suffer, bad decision by HRC, that too immediately after th race an Stwards enquity was announced and horse was disqualified.
