Having quit betting on horses since 2017 although in touch with the sport through the Internet  i can't recollect jockey Gaurav.Sapra but thoroughly ashamed at the manner i which he was abandoned by his racing compatriots. All Indian ex-jockeys do not have a millionaire income of a Pessi.Shroff ,Aslam.Kader , Mallesh.Narredu,Suraj.Narredu   or late Prakash.Bhosle to name a few of the prominent jockeys during my attendances of horse racing which lasted 25 years + .Majority of Indian jockey's struggle for a living and find it hard to make a alternative living post premature or injury retirement from horse racing as many of the older generation  are not well educated. My sincere condolences to the family of late jockey Gaurav.Sapra. R.I.P

Let someone take the initiative and get details from BTC or Mysore Race Club and post details of the account , where we can transfer the contributions.

IR can also do it's part, more particularly highlighting the state of such retired jockeys, and the sheer indifference of the Club's towards their welfare .

Do the top Trainers, Jockeys, Owners even care to acknowledge such incidents, let alone lend a helping hand ? Has the time come where each is to his own and nothing else matters ?It would be tragic if it is so,just as it is to Gaurav's family in a more profound  way that life has dealt them.

May God elicit some help from ....

RIP Gaurav.

Mr Raghavan,Mr Abbas J and Mr sspp have given very  valuable suggestions to follow. It is very shameful in the part of the Racing club and other jockeys as well as the owners who engaged him previously.

If his Bank account number is given I would like to contribute at least 10k for his family benefits. Please anybody find out his A/c number and post it here.

This is the dark side of thye sport,or as a matter of fact any sport,Sometime back B.Prakash a champion in his time was struggling in his last days, even the great Aslam Kader or Bajrang Singh are reduced to mediocre jobs.In other sports however retired playes have option like commentary or politics.

like there is a famous saying"Chadte suraj ko sab salaam karte, lekin doobte sooraj ko koi nahi poochta"

I am puzzled to see not even a single jockey expressing his condolence here. You can't ask for a better platform than HT to join all others in condoling the death of a (former) colleague, who had incidentally undergone a lot of stress before death. Where are the P S Chouhans and other office-bearers of the so-called Jockeys Association? Is it an association worth only on paper? Where are the trainers and owners, particularly those who made use of Sapra all these days? Shame on the part of all professionals who had conveniently ignored the incident. If HT can take the lead and talk to the family members of Sapra and get us a bank account number, we are here to contribute whatever we can to provide solace to the affected family. I mean it!

Gaurav Sapra faced real bad time in last few months. Alwaya seen loitering in 2nd enclosure under the influence of alcohol dressed shabbily.

Faced real bad time before his premature end. A sad end of a talented jockey. May God bless his soul!

Any details about his age?

The club should have some corpus to deal with such unfortunate incidents.  An amount of 10k may be paid to those who die in penury.  The club deducts 46% from sales of jackpot tickets.   It can set aside 500/- from the club commission entirely for such cases.   Initially the utility from such funds be resricted to give ex gratia to those hapless jockey who die without any savings or insurance.

There are multi millionaire jockeys; and there are jockeys to whom it is a luxury to get just riding fees for just 10 rides in a season.

Only 6/7 races in a day.  And among those there will be 2 or 3 races with just 5 runners or less.  So, such jockeys should consider themselves lucky if they get 2 rides in a month.

His family had no money for cremation. What is the club doing for these jockeys? His body was lying on the street and people passing by left money beside his body
