Roll On Place

By Ayyarnet | 28-Jun-2019

Dear friends:

We had one good tipster by name Vamanan. Many times his selections were original and his own analysis. But sometimes he did not pay attention to jockeyship as a result his tips failed many times. He had good followers.ISince I go for selected jockey I do not pay much attention for calculation I have paid goodbye for midnight burning oil long back.

He suggested a good idea and I took it as a project. What he said was just play a small amount say Rs 100 or 500 on any place horse. and do not play other races and roll that amount next week or race again on place only. With our eminent tipsters we have it is not so difficult to predict just one which will come First or Second or Third.

After winning keep that amount safe and roll next sure place. After 5 or 10 races your winning amount will grow steadily.  I went upto 50k but Bookmakers at chennai refuse to accept big amount on place  So it was a successful project. Interewsted friends can try avoiding temptation and just have patience for 10 or 15 Races.

It was an iteresting project.

Best Regards to all

My dear friends 995 of our Punter friends go on impulse betting. If you just see when the Annoubcer says Horses are in such and such horse is bolted and the other horse is in etc if you just the counters how the punters swarm the counter and almost begging with cash with Bookmakers.  You must lose your conscious mind. Of course it is easy to say but in practical it is difficult I was a victim to be honest.

We do not doubt whether Sun wiull rise or not tomorrow rather we really do not bother much also because we are sure of sseeing sun rise tomorrow. You must that much confidence with your selection.

I am unable to admit one can not judge just one one horse which can come First or Second or Third We have lot of friends to guide also. Playing and Rolling should not be difficult just make an attempt aca project or game. You must not think about the cash on hand you must see your initial investment only. You must learn to take risk  In my opinion playing on place is quite profitable in the long range and you do not take much risk One should study him self and like any other trade you must learn  how to bet etc., But our most of our friends readymade tips without bothering to study analyse treack reports and previouys runs of the horses. Sincerity must be there. Just walk in and if you expect a million in Races no chance I am sorry. You must also a player or investor like Stock Exchange etx. You have to put some efforts to learn the trade. Theree is no alternative.  I play just one or three jockeys in my mind other jockeys I do not touch at all I know very well if I lose on my jockeys no problem money is carried forward only I am confident of recovering my loss soon . With other jockeys if you lose your money gone with the wind only.

Best Regards

Raghavan. I was satisfied playing place bets, even though returns are poor by your standard. When a single place bet is so elusive, how I could venture into roll bets. (Inability Expressed)

If you are lucky in rolling place bet on 10 horses, my hearty congratulations.  But we should think of race punters who are psychologically not confident to bet huge amount/s in place.

"If you can not get 2 horses that will place in a 8 card event, then it is the time to leave race course  on a permanent basis"!

Forget about 2 horses in a day.  Even 2 horses in a week is doubtful.  Of course to me.  But, I agree that there are punters more sharp, more calculative and more lucky than I am.

Suppose you want to start with 1000/- .  Less than that amount not accepted by bookies and in tote you will get only pea nuts for place.  It may be easy for you to locate one place horse at 80ps and get 1800.  Now, the 2nd bet is 1800, which let us hope will be successful and gives 1620/- profit @ 90ps.  So he has converted 1000 to 3,420/-.  Here, true to his initial plan of rolling, he has to bet 3,400/- in the 3rd bet.  Say next day.  At 90ps, presume the 3rd bet also successful.  The 4th bet, which will be 6400/- is extremely difficult; and will most certainly be a flop bet;  bookies being richer by that amount.

You said bookies refused 50k bet for place at Chennai.  I have visited Guindy during 2008. At that time a bookie refused to accept even a bet of 2000/-.  So, it is no surprise that in the current days they refused bets of 50k.  But, you could still have bet by splitting the amount and bet 10 to 15k at 3 or 4 stalls.

I think in that aspect Madras bookies are to some extent take pity on punters.  At Bangalore also I have seen several bookies accepting lower bet, even though punter tenders hefty cash.  If he punter tenders 40k, the bookie will normally take the bet.  But, you can still find some odd bookies refusing such a big bet.

So, if Madras bookies do not take big bet/s, then my best wishes for them.  They (Madras bookies) are men with some conscience and must be appreciated!

That apart, in my opinion, I feel that you are wrong in slamming any punter who can not locate two or three horses certain to place every day.  In that case 5 days, or 10 days should be sufficient to carry out the 10-horse-place-roll project.  O K.  Take one month.  Can you locate 10 sure place horses in one month that pay 70ps, 80p or 90p for place?  In that case, you can merrily earn 4 to 6 lakhs every month!  If however you can locate 10 horses that pay even money or 1.25, then you can even think of millions.  I do not believe such fantasy bets!

But, I am a person with a nasty habit of challenging anyone who claims he has the talent to locate place horses, that pays a minimum of 70ps.  I only hope you take this in right spirit.  If you take offence at such a poser to you, I am having no defence.

Hyderabad & Pune start this month.  More than 20 race days remaining in the current month.  Locate 10 horses in that 20+ days and convey it in selections thread.  I do not bet.  I am not asking tips so that I can bet.  I want you to just name those 10 horses that will surely place and place odds are 70ps or above.

Two things you should give margin for.  If you roll 100/-, even after 5 such roll bets the amount will be in the range of 2000/-.  But, if you start with 1000/-,  the cash balance, after five bets, if successful, will increase  to 20000/-.  I do not think punters will risk such a heavy amount in one race thereafter.

So, whether bookies accept such bets or not is a separate question.  But, whether the punter is mentally strong to tender such heavy bets?

My dear friends:

Feared bet is always a loss. Have confidence  I will not say Racing is completely a sport. Sport cum Businewss is embedded on it. So manipulation etc will be a part of the game since business c omes in.

Bookies have also have their tricks of the trade. For example recently Desert God was made favorite. It is stupid expect 7 year old however good it may be to beat 4 years horse with good winning streaks and Form. If Adjudicate was made favorite Bookies would lost money but many not so seasoned punters would have played Desert God. These are tricks of the trade with buysiness point in to coinsideration.

Place bet Roll is iundeed good idea after all you are going to play one or two place bets in a day only Chances are good if you roll it  and keep the money separately for the next day. It worked for me but unfortunatel Book makers do noit take Big amount on Place Betting.

Even if you with 100 also ytou get amount after 4 or 5 Rolling.

Any waty we are used to losing why not take a small amount for testing trial  just Roll one or two Place Bet. If you can not guess one or two hiorse to come on 1st or 2nd or 3rd in 8 Racews program then it is time to leave the Racing altogether. Dont go for higher odds in place. Sometimes a few Bookmakers draw two paralel lines indicating they do not accept bets at the same time others may offer 80 paise or 90 paise then it is sure place try ewith them also. Since you are going to place just one Race or two it may difficult. I took it as a Project with just 500 I went upto 50K

But bookies refuses certain place High Value amount. This is only for Chennai I do not not know about other centers. They accept win but place with certainity they may not.

Best regards to all

Kolramsri,

As long as it is place bet in select races, one could be in profit sufficient to buy race books, auto charges etc.  But, here we are talking about roll bet, that too 5 to 10 horses.

Those who have passed 10 horse roll to be appreciated.  But, I doubt whether even 2 people have tried that  and still emerge unscathed.

Playing place bets selectively can keep you floating. From 2014 to 2018 May, I did not lose in horse race betting. At the end of every year, I was in plus in the range of 20 to 30 thousand. With strict conditions applied, my total bets in that 5 years may not be more than 100. Conditions Number 1.Strictly no terms race 2 no class B races3 No Class1 races. Race distance from1,200 meters to 1,600, not an inch more. Field strictly 8 ( not 7 or more than 8 horses) Not a single instance of EIPH. Normal behavior at the starting stall.Horses from the best-maintained Stables. Not a maiden.Proven past history of the Horse. It is my money and,  I have to safeguard it. The maximum place odds I got was 25/10 on BARACCHUS. Ridden by A.Sandesh venue Bengaluru date 11.3.2017. After last June, the Place bet was stopped Waiting for the right race, and studying is tiresome. So changed to buying J P tickets, with a negligible amount of investment.

@ Ayyarnet,

You are right, playing place - at reasonable odds - with a little bit of intervals here and there will definitely yield good results. For that matter, even playing win - provided your 100% confident from your side - occasionally can also get good dividends. I want to share a week-end incident here.

After a long gap, one of my old racing friends called me from Mysuru (I am in Kerala) and asked me if I am still following races at Bengaluru. I said "Yes, I am". Then, he wanted me to get two 'good' bets (he meant reliable), one each for Saturday and Sunday. He said he was having Rs.20,000 with him and wanted to roll the money on two horses and make some 'urgent' money.

That was a challenge for someone like me who haven't gone to the race-course for about 5 years now. I know very well making presumptions from outside is totally different from being in the ring and betting. Still I confidently told him to play "Adjudicate" on Saturday and "War Hammer" on Sunday. I predicted evens to 11/10 opening odds on both. He took my call.

Yest night he called me and thanked profusely as he made a solid profit of Rs,1,11,000/- by playing these two animals at 2-1/2 and 9/10 odds roll respectively. His investment was Rs.22,000 and take home money Rs.1,33,000. He has invited me to Mysuru next week for a grand party but I have refused it because I know my first location there could be the picturesque race-course located behind Chamundi hills.

What my friend has inferred now is that by exercising maximum restraint and playing 1 or 2 horses in a week or so, we can make money. However, I told him not to call me for any bets next week because I know this winning spree can easily get broken anywhere.

Racing, of course, is a funny game...but looks very healthy when it rewards, like it did for my friend.

Ayyarnet,

Roll bet is welcome.  Very sweet.  Who does not take pride in swindling bookies with as much low risk as 1000 or 2000?

But, reality is vey very cruel.  It is OK if you aim at a roll bet of three horses.  Even though it is only for place, the horses have to finish in top three in those three races.

You are speaking 5 to 10 races.  O K.  Let us go slow.  To locate 10 horses you take 2 month.  Even 3 months.  No problem.  Who will guarantee that the ten horses will invariably place?   Even assume that you are betting sure shot 2nd favorite or 3rd favorite,  and happy to get 60ps pdds itself.   At mere 60ps odds if you roll Rs. 1000/- on 10 horses  you will get around 1 lakh rupees.  And, if you bet 70ps horses, you will get 2 lakh rupeess.

Such thoughts only work in theory.  Practically speaking, you should consider yourself lucky if you pass 4 horse roll.  So, I suggest restrict your ambitious roll plan to 3 horses only.  Beyond that, it is not advisable.  You try next roll bet starting with 1000/2000 after your first roll bet pass.

Winning in races is not easy.  For eg, before you bet one horse like War Hammer, you would have lost three bets like Crack of Dawn, Constanza & Himanchali!

Never go bullish with the idea of roll betting!  I have tried that experiment 7 to 8 times.  The best thing that I achieved was three passed bets, the 4th horse was withdrawn after I tendered cash and purchased the tote tickets!
