That is amazing. I don't think people pay attention to so many details. Surprising nobody else appreciated your selection.

Fooling You,

Thanks a lot. I took into account the current form, improvement graph, my own assessment of the relative staying probability based on past performance as well as the horse characteristics, likely race pattern and last but not the least the jockey caliber. By horse characteristics I mean the preferred manner of running (with the pace or off the pace), striding action, nature of response, turn of foot and maturity.

@Glasgow prince

Congratulations on your fantastic selection. Your first three came in the same order. Only Cosmic Ray came fifth. You confidently left Hunt For Gold, Anjeze and Sir Supremo who were fancied by many even from the top four. Your selction was the best of all. How did you select Knight Templar for third slot? Please share your ideas.

To all,

Impavid is beaten! By Well connected.  The distance between the winner and runner is only "LNK".

Peple who had backed Well connected happily cashed their bets.  But the 2nd placed horse was not at all disgraced.  In fact, if there was no David Allan, I very much doubt whether Well connected would have finished even 2nd.   "Impavid"  lost no doubt.  But, its fans need not feel too defensive about their fancy failing.

But, the performance on Knight Templar who ran 2nd throughout and finished a game 3rd & that of Southern Ruler has to be appreciated.  These two finished well ahead of Anjeze, Hunt for Gold, Cosmic ray!

A vote of confidence from a senior HORSE TALKER like you gives me heart to continue.

I would like to say my aim is merely to establish correct facts. I do have printed records for nearly 50 years but they are not computerised. So any checking, especially with only a vague starting point, involves a lot of manual checking. Manual checking is prone to errors and omissions and at the age 78 I am as prone to them as anybody. I do not claim infallibility.

I will always acknowledge my errors and have done so readily recently when Santosh came up with correct facts.

Yes that's the rule of life more bricbats means you are on track

The same used to happen when I used to post in HT,the bricbats beat all records and many ardent followers had to intervene to get the motivation going

Glasgow Prince said ...

22-Jul-2019

ITR,

Information has value only if it is correct. In fact I would appeal to all to take your interventions positively. There is nothing good or bad, right or wrong about correct information, it is just that - correct! It is so nice for the forum that someone is ready to contribute with correct historical information.

I had a boss who was a perfectionist  and many times in his pursuit of this we missed the deadline of submitting  the tender on time and lost the order.

So much so for perfection

Posting for the First time with my little knowledge on a system based on  ASTROLOGY-ALPHABETOLOGY-CARD NUMBERS.

IThis method consumes lot of time initially . Since DERBY RACE is there and i am still studying the Method hereby posting my observations with ASTROLOGY LOGIC.In the BIG RACE 5 horses i have shortlisted and analyized and the details as under.Explanation of all greek and latin i shall give later

(1) IMPAVID: KRITIKA:TARUS:(SUN)(SAT)

(2) KNIGHT TEMPLAR:ANORADHA:SCORPIO:(SATURN):(VENUS)

(7) ANJEEZ: KRITIKA: TARUS:( SUN): (SATURN )

(9) HUNT FOR GOLD :PUNARVASU:GEMINI:(JUPITER):(MERCURY)

(10) WELL CONNECTED: MRIGSIRA: TARUS (MARS)(MERCURY)

CONCLUSION: WELL CONNECTED and HUNT FOR GOLD chances are NIL as their STAR LORD and MAIN LORD are not favorably as[pecting the LAGNA or HORSE NAKSHATRA.

IMPAVID: The STAR LORD "SATURN" is on ANGLE and in conjuction with LAGNA.Also its in Conjuction with CARD NUMBER (1) counterd from LAGNA.Its HORSE SIGn TARUS is in 7th from LAGNA and conjuction with CARD NUMBER. It seems the STRONGEST

Second best is ANJEEZ as it has also TARUS: (SUN) SATURN) concept but not as favourable as IMPAVID. THIRD BEST is KNIGHT TEMPLER as LORD of LAGNA aspects CARD NUMBER

But if this method has to be predicted on face value then IMPAVID IS UNBEATABLE.folowed by ANJEEZ and KNIGHT TEMPLER.

Transparency,

You never interfere with Ruchi's tips!  Good.   First thing, you have no business to interfere in any horsetalk member's tips.  2nd thing is whether Ruchi is giving his selections frequently in this site.   Ruchi appears in this site rarely.

Even my policy is never to interfere in anybody's tips.  Whether he gives 35ps horse or 20/1 horse is not at all my concern.  It is only the headweight talk after the race that I object to.   Whereas all other tipsters remain silent irrespective of results, you irritate everyone by resorting to buffoon like comments AFTER THE RACE.

No doubt you have given Psychic force & Galvarino.  But in all you have tipped 16 horses including 35ps favorite Mzilikanzi & Three wishes.  Psychic force was not 15/1 horse.  Of course you have the liberty to claim it is 25/1.

I know that dividend is always less at tote compared to bookies.  But, I will always consider tote dividends as the barometer.  How much money one earns by betting 1000/- on each of your 16 choices at tote.  (it is a different matter that you are never confident about your tips and asking the punters to bet maximum 4).  According to you one should bet only on 4 winners and ignore the rest.  Which four horses you have selected to bet yesterday?  Can you answer that?

And what Ruchi says is 100% fact.  I have time & again warned you to give tips that give minimum 12/10 odds.  You are tipping Ice floe, Star Superior etc that too each way.   So stop challenging Ruchi.  Whether he gives right tips or simply fools his clients is not for you to decide.  The customers will decide whether it is worth or not to subscribe to Ruchi's tips.

Instead of being jealous of Ruchi, you are also welcome to become a paid tipster.  Do not drum beat about Psychic force & Galvarino!  A broken clock shows correct time twice a day.

@ Kolramsri

Your memory is quite good. Mine is worse. But I have racing and breeding records, barring an odd year, from 1970 and I can and check them whenever required. Just to refresh, some details of some of the horses you have mentioned.

GREEN SARI[GB] (b 1966 Sayajirao - Irish Challenge by Royal Challenger). Bred by R.M. Thorpe. Owned in India by Mr. C.N. Reed and trained by S. Hill.

Ran eight times without winning in England. In India won 6 races, Rs.1,39,740 + 100 gns. incl. Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Gr.2, Berar Gold   Cup, F.K. Irani Gold Cup, etc. Also won Mirage Plate (1600 m) under Dixon (62.5 kg.) on Prince Khartoum's Invitation Cup day and Delhi Plate (1600 m.) at Bangalore on 30 May 1971 (could be opening day). Retired to Broadacres Stud. Dam of winners GREEN GODDESS (Bangalore Oaks, Gr.2), DON'T WORRY, TALLAHASSE, VIRGINIAN, etc.

MAMA'S MINK[IRE] (late Miss Papiro) (dk b 1966 Above Suspicion - Miss Pepita by Sayajirao). Bred by Mrs. S. Alexander,  Owned in India by Mr. and Mrs. R.E.O Carey  and Mrs. D.C. Jarvis and trained by D.C. Jarvis. Initially owned only by Mr. R.E.O. Carey. Won Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Gr.2, Guindy Gold Cup, Gr.3 (ridden by Cracknell), Maharaja's Cup, L, Burdwan Cup, Governor's Cup, etc. Retired to Jaggy Stud. Dam of winners BRIGHT MINK and MAMMA'S SABLE, her only foals.

MIDGET (b 1962 Dumbarnie - Littleone by Mieuxce). A 'got-abroad' bred by Qutab Stud. Owned by Mr. R.J. Gazdar and trained by S. Hill. Won 11 races, Rs.1,50,757 incl. South India Oaks, Gr.1 and placed 2nd in South India 1000 Guineas, Gr.2, etc. Retired initially to Broadacres Stud, later moved to Kolhapur Stud. Dam of four foals including ROMANESQUE (23 wins), BRITANIA and FASCINATION.

Trust this has been helpful.

@ Ruchi

Your statement "And the feat of lesser known rider L Sundar (son of rider Ananth Rao) was one day he rode a quadruple for trainer Hill at Bangalore beating likes of Jagdish, V Shinde, E Alford, Shamu Chavan, etc". (Some typos and minor spellings corrected by me). Like all your statements, it contains a grain of fact and lots of imagination.

Sundar did ride three (quadruple means four) winners at Bangalore on 8 November 1975 but only two were trained by Hill and none of the four jockeys mentioned -- Jagdish, Shinde, Alford or Chavan -- was riding that day at Bangalore.

Not very long ago, you claimed to have mastered Mr. Bhutaney's book on handicapping before it was published and going into Members Enclosure at Mumbai as a young kid because your father was a Gold Member. When you were cornered, you disappeared from HORSE TALK.  Welcome back but avoid making loose statements.

That is when we had backed BLACK JESTER ridden by HOWELL which win a very long odds

Madras races then we're superb

@Indian_Turf_Record Yes Both Green Sari and Miss Believe ran in Madras during 1969, under S.Hil Miss Believe did not shine like her stablemate. After winning the QE2 cup (2,800 meters) in 1972, Green Sari was brought to Madras and won a race ridden by Dixon on the Invitation day. ( Invitation winner Prince Khartoum) Green Sari also won a 1,200-meter race, on the opening day of Bangalore Summer Season(could be 1971) All from memory. Correction welcome.

MAMMS MINK IS ANOTHER FILLY IMPORTED IN THE SAME PERIOD TRAINED BY JARVIS.IT LOST TO BUCK PASSER IN THE MAHARAJA GOLD CUP. NEXT YEAR IT TROUNCED THE MAHARAJA CUP FIELD.
SAM HIL HAD AROUND 100 HORSES IN CHENNAI(MADRAS) AND HAD SEVERAL JOCKEYS: RAJASEKHAR,SUGUMAR,DIXON AND FITZGERALD. I HAVE SEEN MORE THAN 4-5 HORSES RUNNING IN THE SAME RACE AND EACH FIGHTING WITH THE OTHER.NO DOOSRAS. ALL THE OWNERS USED TO COME INTO THE RING TO PLACE BETS ON THEIR HORSES. SAM TRIED ALL HIS HORSES IN THE SAME RACE.

GREEN SARI and MISS BELIEVE were the two horses which were allowed to be imported by govt in those days ,probably later 60's

They were trained by SAM HILLand ridden by DIXON

As they were imported and competing with Indian horses, they were classified in Class 1 with a handicap of 65 kgs.

And the feat of lesser known rider L SUNDRAR ( son of rider ananth Rao) was one day he rode a quadraple for trainer hill at Bangalore beating the likes of Jagdish,v shinde ,E Alford,Shamu chavan etc

As regards IMPIVAD and your point on good milers extending to 2000.

Yes SERJANT,PRONTO,SNOW DEW were all good milers and late rushers .Their style of running was SWITCH OFF and then gallop towards the last 200 mts. Also PRONTO PRONTO beat a poor horse in SEVESTHAL who never won a race after that fighting second in derby in hands of the useless Imran Khan.

That helped them to win over 2000 mts

GOOD milers with front running style will find it difficult.IMPAVID has never come from way of the pace and won.It always is in top two or so from start an then accelerated. Its like RED COCKADE and SIX SPEED type of style who found it difficult to tackle 2000.

I still stick to my thought that IMPAVID will find it difficult, but then after all this is racing.....

I think for a 3 year old horse, 10 furlong race in summer season is not a parameter of its staying ability. I guess here class of a horse comes into picture. Serjeant at arms is a pure miler but has won the bangalore derby, Aster rose's class put her 2nd in that same race. Lady in lace is a miler but has won pune derby because of sheer class, Prevalent force won hyd and Chennai derby more on class than stamina

So i think discounting a classy horse by imagining its stamina limitations would be a mistake. I would never discount lmpavid because of its pedigree or even because of his out of form jockey.

May the best horse win!

You are right. I could access only one record of Pleasure Hunt participating in Indian Derby nearly 17 yers back. I have copied and now pasting the result.

Whether Impavid wins on Sunday or not is matter of speculation/conjecture.

It is possible for out and out milers to win Derby Bangalore as examples of Snow Dew, Aboline, Pronto Pronto and Serjeant At Arms show. Lot depends on pace of race and factors in running.

Race is on Sunday and Impavid is Horse No 1 !

@ Ruchi

Firstly, it is Indian_Turf_Record and not Indian track record.

Your memory does NOT serve you right as recent instances of Track Lightning beating Richelieu, Pendragon being No 4 and beating Buck passer, Prince Khartoum winning Invitation Cup in Mumbai with Foy clearly show.

Pleasure Hunt did wIn Indian Oaks but was ridden by F. Norton (not Roche).

Hunt For Gold had the best stamina to win this race, this horse will prefer longer distance so if I judge it by the previous runs it would not figure on board but HFG is a pure stayer.

Dear Irians

With humility I want to make few comments

Anjeze staying capability is doubtful lest P Trevor would have been picked hence Cosmic Ray, Impavid in all of its runs had strategy of front bunch runners, lastly HFG sole entry of Master Trainer Pesi Shroff isn't accepted for also ran sake and with Trevor astride & judicious preparation should clinch coveted Title...

Hunt For Gold should win

I would have loved Thailand to be here. She was the one who caught tje eye in the fillies mile n would have relished the extra 400 metres.

ANJEZE

The running tactics on Anjeze will be changed. Ignore her last failure, where she was placed third.

Anjeze will be placed in the mid bunch by Akshay Kumar and will be shown the day light from 500 mtr onwards.

Anjeze is sure shot winner. Play Anjeze as if there is no tomorrow. Be bold enough to back now.

@ Ruchi : Thanks for your advice. I gave my preference and personal fancy for  Impavid over Well connected and mentioned the reasons in detail and also not totally ruled out the chances of later Well Connected. Secondly my analysis are different from many others particularly you and I do analyse my success and failure ratio after the races and I am totally satisfied with my pre-race picks and  tips and so too my members.

For IMPAVID SUPPORTERS

THIS horse will NOT WIN the derbyMy reading is IMPAVID is a out and out miler and 2000 will be beyond it.It will be beaten by a late rushers which could be either HUNT FOR GOLD( who was given a shady ride in the classics with David Alan) or WELL CONNECTED

But IMPAVID, sharmaji please have a re look I feel it will not win

Well connected has beaten Anjeze by 3 Lengths, on that performance Anjeze is out. Timing of Impavid was better than Well Connected but improvment shown by later is unbelievable. Staying power of Impavid looks doubtful whereas Well Connected will relish the 2000 mtrs trip. Conclusion : Well Connected is my choice for Derby!

Derby wears an open look with War Hammer not accepted.  However, out of the accepted I select the following to vie for top honours:

IMPAVID  :  His second to War Hammer was good enough to be a default contender, but the type of running ( forward )     Tracking well too . Should be on board

KNIGHT TEMPLER :  Won comfortably from Sir Supremo has only two runs

WELL CONNECTED :  Won from Thailand , Anjeze , Cosmic Ray - an interesting prospect

ANJEZE :  With hatrick of wins & 3rd to Well Connected, now accepted for derby shown trainer reposes confidence in her, may run a bold race or set a scorching pace for the stable mate.

COSMIC RAY : Beat Victorious sermon & Sir Supremo,  and was given an easy run in Fillies Trial Stakes., tracking well - can upset.

HUNT FOR GOLD :  6TH to War Hammer in Karnatka Juvenile Million, could not get clear run 150 m to winning post.  Could have easily been involved in the fininsh as Neeraj Rawal could barely move his hands.  Then, 7th to Well Connected with David Allan up , though the run was hardly suggestive of its true potential, I feel it may be an educational run.  The tracks are good. Can it be the dark horse..to lift Derby..

My Choice :

COSMIC RAY

HUNT FOR GOLD

IMPAVID

UPPER HAND TO IMPAVID FOR BANGALURU DERBY

The Kingfisher Ultra Bangaluru Summer Derby a Gr I race for horses 3yr olds  over a distance of 2000 mts attracted six colts and four fillies, total ten runners to run on 21st July,’19 Sunday. With the absence of Colts winner War Hammer, due to a hairline fracture, who won all his four starts and remained unbeaten, the chances of Arjun Mangalorkar trained Impavid ( Air Support—Polento ) brightened more, as he lost his only outing to War Hammer by 3/4 length after chasing Trafalgar till entering straight and shaping like a winner  in the Colts. This half brother to Eternal Angel rated at 70 points though lost to WH but not looks disgraced and seems capable of making amends for that lost.

I also impressed with the manner of running of Padmanaban trained sparingly raced filly Well Connected ( Arazan - Guest connections ) . This half sister to Apache Sunrise won her maiden race in style than in second run shown lot of improvement and won Fillies Champioship Stakes a Gr I race beating superior rated fillies including Anjeze the favourite. She has the capacity to stay well and show further improvement with her highest rating of 71 points in this field.

Among other runners S S Attaollahi trained Anjeze ( Win Legend - Angelique ) filly lost only once as a favourite to Well connected in her four runs rated at 68 points and P Shroff trained Hunt for Gold ( Leitir Mor - Pleasure hunt ) filly rated at 51 points won her first two starts impressively and ran below par in subsequent other three runs and not make much impression. Both Anjeze and Hunt for Gold’s last run was below par to merit attention for derby race.

In my opinion and conclusion the colt Impavid and the filly Well Connected two  remains as serious and main contenders in the fray for derby and my preference goes to Impavid and I expect him to win this prestigious derby race.
