Yes,Roberta will win the next race because Desert God will not be running in that race. Desert God has run 25 times with 16 wins, 4 second places and 3 third places and only 2 times finished off board. Roberta's big win is the Indian Oaks and rest is nothing to shout about. Even this 2nd place looks like gifted by Salazar. If you watch the vidieo yu will see Salazar ran disinterested last through out and the jockey never improved the position till last 400 mtrs or so when the second place was in the  safe hands of Roberta.

Like 99.9 % people on HT you ve spoken through your pocket. Not your fault. Watch the race desert God has out stayed and out classed Roberta. He has won easy towards the last 50 MTS and could have increased the margin had it been another furlong. Next time Roberta runs she will be favorite and should be eaten out of sight  mark my words and prove me wrong. Please understand racing and how it operates.

ayyarnet The difference is Desert God is trained by the master Paddy and Roberta by the self proclaimed champion Shroff. Paddy proved that 5 stlegers with the same horse is a record.

I would look at the race like this 

1) when DESERT GOD ran in race (89) it was 18 kgs up in body weight.Paddu is a shrewd trainer and the target was ST LEGER so that run was just a conditioner

That day DESERT carried about 1.5 kgs more than SALAZAR and finished ahead but then as I said DESERT GOD in my view was not fully exerted then

Now come to race 124,there is a lot of hype about ROBERTA,just see this race SALAZAR was last till straight whilst ROBERTA was third thru out and as they turned for home Trevor started whipping with practically NO RESPONSE .JUST forget ROBERTA today may not even best REUNION for third spot.In that race SALAZAR again came smoothly to finish 2nd

My take ONE HORSE RACE DESERT GOD With SALAZAR may give some anxious moments but may lose by less than 1 length

Will go with Roberta today....

i am not all agsinst Desert God but as,an animal lovet i have much sympathy for this horse  just because the owners gambled all  the money this horse  earned for them they should run always to recover their loss

This horse made to run.in class 3 but could not get a,place also

why they are so greedy i do not knowut us time they vive a decent pension abd retire this horse

In this,resosct our trainers should taje a lessson from Ace Trainer  Mr R,R  Byramjee

Sandesh on DG is a perfect recipe for eating ... Sandesh is a decent jockey when it comes to open class races but in graded races he lacks that big race temperament .......

It is Mr only.My point is don't take Rating at its face value and compare.If an outstation horse is running in Handicap Race then Handicapper assigns its Rating.In a Terms Race the Rating of outstation horses is often left blank.

In this case my opinion is after Star Superior race the rating of Roberta is not revised consistent with its position in the race.

I am not saying that it will Win but it has a fair chance to come second.Thats all

Mr. Or Ms. Sun, we will see the results and talk. Roberta s credentials are what? Winning the oaks beating mediocre company and prior to that winning a class 3 race. Salazar and desert God have been running in class 1 grade 1 company for over three years now. If Roberta had any chances as per her rating she should have been taking at least 10 kgs or more  from the top 2

desert god first i saw this lovely horse in mumbai derby that day it was 9/1 in odds  all mumbai locals made fun  of it  

still i can remeber the powerfull srtides in derby latter it  won all classics in india 

then the master  send him dubai thast a chance 

later he broought  back and raced in bangalore  it was line last i but the horse was confused of clock and anti clock running  

again it raised to its rousing form and win invitation at hyderbad its ws best time to retire again it was tested 

tom if desert god win paddy is lucky otherwise its very wrong treatment to great legendery horse 

i wish tom it win not for odds or   money but for pride and glory  its a seven years horse but  he always rise to the ocation there is no limitation that is desert god

The only myths or jinx is all the greats as far as sports I follow..ussain bolt lost in his last race..lonhro lost on his last race on his home turf by 6 lengths to grand armee who was a Waterhouse horse.who owned kingda ka n now he is with dhunjibuoy..n he has roberto in this field as a 4yr old oaks winner Mumbai.Federer yet to know..sachin cud not score 100..phar lap list his last race..n many more greats ..even Quasar who was the highest earner..now Desert God..he is supposed to win this race easy...if this jinx is not for this GR-2 Race

While comparing ratings don't go by Official figures.Look at Race 124 won by Star Superior Here Salazaar was at 55.5Kg while Roberta was at 56 KG.So taking Salazaar rating of 112 as reference Roberta should be at 113 minus eqivalent of 3L separating the horses.Let us take double of 3L This 6L translates 120 Units of 1/100 of sec.At 2200 mtrs 10 Rating points or 5KG Today their difference is 3 Kg If we assume that Roberta was not fully exerted then it can come closer to Salazaar or go ahead.The advantage of Salazaar is not 13 Kg as it appears from official Ratings

Desert God: I don't see a point in talking about this horse at this center and at this distance he's a proven champion at multiple number of occasions.

Salazar: In tremendous form from the past 50 days but distance doesn't suit him, he's more of 1800 to 2200 meters horse. Yes,he has won at this distance I think but what he beat is not so great.

My opinion: Same case as mentioned with salazaar what he beat is not worth mentioning when you compare with all time greats as desert god. 

Roberta: A fashionably bred filly won oaks at poor timing beating a very ordinary set. But can surprise with champion jockey trevor saddling him. Will be put to test in this company distance is not an issue. 

Desert God will have a bold show here no point in doubting him here... may the best horse win 

Looking beyond desert God is foolhardy.

I cant accept as typo error as you have mentioned `dessert` at two places.

dessert ..means sweet/pudding  etc. taken after food

desert ..means empty place, a forest where nothing present or a place in arabic countries where you can only see sand...... and no life ..

Salazar in rousing form .....last run beat adjudicate ....and now beat desert god ....SALAZAAR ....

Roberta will not finish in 1 2 in this race. See her rating of 86 compared to 114 and 112 for dessert God and Salazar. She is getting only 3 kgs from the two horses and will not finish within 5 lengths of them. The race is between desert God and Salazar. If both joint favorites and at decent odds dessert God will romp home. If dessert God a hot fav and Salazar at good odds Salazar will win. It's an odds game.

Desert God's record one a trip of 2400 Mtrs and above is simply staggering. It was won 9 out of the 10 it has run. I'm sure it will retire in Grand style after lifting the St. Legers on the Sunday. I don't see any other horse coming close to it.

The St Leger is generally a classic for older horses n why should DG not raise when he is in his prime.

Besides Paddy is smart n will retire him as a stallion when the time is right.

Dont forget he lost some yrs when racing in dubai.

As for the Leger, dont think Roberta is anywhere near DG.  

The three contenders r DG, Salazaar n My Opinion who won the South India St Leger.

My selection is an ew bet on Salazaar who has beaten DG this season covincingly.

Salazaar is the horse which can beat Desert God.

Desert God has won 4 out of 4 races over 2800 mtrs & I am sure he will keep his record straight on Sunday, 28th July, 2019. In his last start over 1800 mtrs he finished 3rd but this happened because of dangerous/careless riding of Suraj (enquiry opened but result not known). Desert God is a wonder horse!
