Why Punters Lose?

By Raghavan | 03-Sep-2019

This subject has been discussed many times during the last one decade.  And needless to say we are not getting a satisfactory answer.

People still continue to lose.  Bookies making merry.

Let me speak about my performance at HYD races yesterday.

Race no 1:  I wanted to skip.  But, a carried over exacta dragged mee like a magnet.  Though the field was small, (only 8 runners) winner picking was somewhat tricky.  Finally I shortlisted that winner  should be from 1,5,7.

So, I took exacta ticket 1,5,7/1,2,5,7/1,2,5,7/1,2,4,5,7. Expecting that the exacta will surely click provided horse numbers 3,6 or 8 does not finish in top 4.

Well.  As expected 3,6,8 did not finished in the frame!  But, from the remaining horses No-4 finished 2nd.  My calculations proved wrong!  Exacta, rs. 360/- gone!

Race no 2:  My exacta ticket was 2-4-1-3,6,9.  5 tickets.  150/=.  Gone.  No-7 finished 4th.  And as per cctv display of probable dividends,  no-7 shuttling between 8th & 9th positions.

Race no-3.  Took trinella 3,6,8/3,6,8/1,3,6,7,8.   And there was shock result.  No-5, the least fancied horse won!

Then 4th race.  Was inclined to skip.  But, there was jackpot carried over.  So, there was no escape.  Bought the ticket 347/23/3/5/1568.  240/-.  Gone!

5th race.  Again my mind cautioned me.  But, there was trinella pool c/o.  So, took trinella 23/1235/123459.  240/-.  To my sorrow I think 15/1 horse won.  Gone.

6th race.  By this time had lost all hopes.  Yet took a treble ticket. 3/5/56187  3 tickets.  150/-.

7th race.  Had dropped all idea of continuing bets.  But, again there was trinella c/o.  So, just tried one ticket with numbers 5/6,8,11/3,6,7,8,11.  120/-..

So, there was no loss because of race betting yesterday.   If I had skipped 2 or 3 races earlier would have been in plus to the extent of my expenses.  But Almighty's wish were different.

Now what if my Treble ticket and Trinella in 7th race had failed?  I would have been in loss of less than 1500/-.  But, there are people who have lost yesterday any amount above 50k.  I am repeatedly warning all punters that if the going seemed tough, then skip some races.  Do not care even if your fancied horses win in the races you skipped.  Goli maro.

I somehow took sanyas from betting on win/place.  There was no betting on those pools for the past 26 months.  The tote as well as bookies are much shrewd and sharper than we punters.

A punter may be Phd, Scientist, professor, IIT gold medalist etc outside the race course.  Inside the race course he has only one identity.  PUNTER.  And, he is always on the defensive.  And 25 to 27 days in a month he will return as a loser.

A self styled champion tipster has spoken that it is possible to win in races even if one bets in all races, sometimes two or three horses per race.  And he has came with bland statement.  That he won 44,000/- in the just concluded BNG season.  I have expressed my doubts about his claim.  I asked him to give the list of horses on which he won his bets and also the number of his bets that failed.  He is beating around the bush.

Directs me to visit his blog, and work out the results.  Such people are real enemies to punters.  Even in the normal course, the punters will be reeling under the impact of heavy loss.  But such tipsters indulge in uncalled for bravado and push the punters to a corner where there is no escape.

Now, I request horsetalk members to speak out what they feel.  Quitting the race is the easiest thing!  I have done that hundreds of times!  But, punters can at least lower their betting amount.  And they can at least skip three or four races in a day.  In short "cut their losses".  That is what I am asking all punters.  But, what you feel?

Just answer this much.  Whether my observations are from a confirmed loser or based on reason, common sense!

Hello Raj_original

When you are comparing, why do you bring in measly 1 lakh losers per month.

"Mare tho Haathi ko Maar.  Loote tho Khazane ko loot"!

If you want to hit, then hit an elephant.  If you desire to loot, then you loot big big bank!

I have mentioned about one gambler who lost equivalent of 900 crore rupees.  If you google search, you will know about many such legendary punters.  What is this petty loss of 1 lakh per month.

I think you are from Karnataka.  Where are you based now?  Have you heard one saying in Kannada?

Aanege aane bhara!  Iruvege iruve bhara!

An elephant will struggle to carry another elephant.  Similarly an ant will struggle to carry another ant!

I like to read all your posts and understand your good intentions.

Persisting the punters to quit racing will not work. To quit horse racing is something like asking a smoker to quit smoking. Smoker knows his lungs will be damaged, but still he contiues. Unless he gets chest pain he will not quit.

Thats why elders advice youngsters to not to indulge in any sort of gambling.

Knowing the danger involved in horse racing everyone has to be responsible while attending. He has to play within his earning capacities. One should attend race course only with extra money. Money reserved for school fees and rent should not be touched.  If he brings all his earning  to play then whose fault it is ?

If a person consumes 180ml of brandy he can enjoy the drink, if he consumes another 180ml he will be dancing, if he takes another 180ml he will be on the floor.

Nobody is going to listen. One way or the other somehow we will attend. It is an addiction and not that easy to give up totally. Gambling is same like smoking, drinking etc.

Mr Raghavan,

Nice to go through your post, although we have been discussing this topic very regularly in this forum.

From the responses that we find here, it's clear that no one is going to make money by punting. I know that a majority of us have come here (I came in as a racing correspondent, lost heavily but took a wise decision in 2014, rebuilt myself and leading a 'gentleman' life again) by fault. Those who claim that they are enjoying horse racing as a true sport are only trying to be stupids.

Since we know each other for quite some time through this forum, I thought it duty-bound to express my views to your post. There is no gainsaying that 'racing has to change' or 'gst has to go' because nothing that you or I ask is going to happen. It's as simple as that. However, the bitter truth is that horse racing will remain forever and a notable section of people will continue to go bankrupt after doning the role of a punter.

Not that you don't know that you are playing with fire but the fact is that you have got addicted to it. When I call it addiction, you still have a small desire somewhere in you that you can make big money one day by cracking a jp or exacta. It may or may not happen but is bound to happen in 99% cases is that they are going to be on the roads sooner than later.

If I look back at my racing life, I can easily recollect the social problems that I went through after I became a punter. There was no peace of mind. There was no Sunday. There were no holidays. Everyday is a racing day. Whenever I used to see money in my hands, the first thing I tell me is that "I can double it' by playing just a couple of races. The end result will be just the opposite though.

My sincere advice to seniors and knowledgable people like you is to take a firm resolve to quit racing once and for all as a punter but still continue to enjoy racing only in that way. This is what I have been doing for the last five years or so and I am really happy to see an even money just failing at the wire or a 20/1 just flying from the outside to snatch the verdict. It's really exciting because my money is not there anymore. Hope you got the message. Thank you

I have three rules in eacing

1 Never play 1st n last race.Reason 1st race is an indicator 60% times abt the nature of the day.

2. Dont bet on favorites below evns in majority of races n specually in centers like Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata , Mysore n Hyderabad

3. if possibld avoid Kolkata, Delhi, hyderabad, ooty n pune.

Why sympathise with the losers? Its not like they are doing something divine and losing at it. IF your are a punter and you are a loser then u should quit before it's too late. If not then u do not deserve sympathy for any catastrophe you are bringing on yourself. Perpetual losers DONOT deserve this sympathy.

I have been watching you since long and and truly believe u have good intentions but your faith is misplaced.

Dear Friends,

There are two types of punters. The one who full hope of winning today another who recover the loss.

1) Never play in Tote. You never earn in TV divident.

2) Be calm. Watch 1 or 2 races without playing single rupee. You will find who is the winner.

3) Tips are huzards, don't depend on whatsapp group or Facebook tips. Kindly avoid Trainer, Owner, Jockey information, that may lead unrecoverable loss. but you can merge with own study you will find a maximum winners.

4) Don't waste money - If you invest 10/- on jackpot everyday you will definitely pass within 100 days. If you invest 5k on jackpot everyday then calculate your own.

5) Study=Ghanta Where is the merit, rating, class, trackwork. Keep eye on trainers pending jockey pending horses. Few races running on EGO.

6) Where there is much confidence there is a huge loss.

7)  Take a small budget as affordable to you and your dependent, be in safer side like place If not get return don't worry Another day.

Madhu Uppar, Fail punter

Dear friends, The main reason for loss is  our presence in race course. Second no body forced to spend money. Third one , everybody dreaming to make millions and enjoy life. The life is very much outside enjoy it. Visit course when you have free money and free time. Do not compromise committed sum for racing. Select a pet distance and class , stick to play it. You can make some money. Not in millions, but few bucks. Have a drink at dance bar and enjoy

Venu,

I do not know how to react.  If adrenalin rush is the only criteria, then a punter will not require more than 2000/- as race budget per month.

People bet.  Though they lose and lose, they bet only in the hope of winning back their losses.  In less than first 20 days of betting career, the punter would have understood the reality of race betting.  He is the person with great wisdom if he realises that race betting is only a losing proposition and quit the game altogether.

But, he is caught in the whirlpool of race betting and I do not want to talk what follows.

Let me tell about one gambler (not horse race punter).  Terrance Watanabe.  He lost 127 million  dollars in one year.  (at current rate that works out to more than 900 crore rupees).  He lost all his property  because of his gambling tendencies.  There are many such legendary gamblers.

So at India betting on horses is a cheap pastime.  The club asks you to bet only 10/- per race.  Sometimes 10/- for 5 races (jackpot).  O K.  Let us be realistic.  No one enters the race course with the idea of betting only 10/-.   Around 1000/- a day is more than sufficient.   But, punters bet 10k, 20k in a single race and then blame, curse jockeys, trainers etc.  Let the punters take a royal oath that they will not bet more than 500/- on a single horse.  In less than one week, bookies will surrender their license and will not be seen within a mile of race course.

R Ramesh,

Agreed.  We can not climb even to 2nd floor in a building.  Will see whether there is lift facility.  But we dream to go to Chandra Mandala (moon)!

You see, the best strategy is to bet for win, and collect the winnings.  If you can not take risk for win, then go for place.  You are giving right suggestion.

But, among punters, there is small group that prefer multi leg pools, or exotic pools.  Even though they are well aware that solving those pools will be very difficult.  Let us just leave those punters to bet as per the dictates of their mind.  People betting for win/place also lose.  And those punters also lose.  But, I personally feel that betting on such multi leg pools, or exotic pools, though difficult will at least help them in cutting losses.

We daily witness  this or that spirited punter betting one lakh, two lakhs etc on a single horse.  But, for exotic/multi leg pools a punter will not require more than 1000 in an entire day.

We should not pass any judgement on any punter.  If he finds those multi leg pools are not at all viable, he will definitely stop that and will join  mainstream.  (bets for win/place).

The following are some reasons as per me.

1. Over confidence of Punters as they know everything about racing

2. Not doing deep learning about the particular race as every race as some logical answer to the eventual winner where we will find out only after the race. But we need to find that before the race which is challenge.

3. Over-seeing the race card and betting based on Jockey or Trainer or Owner they like

4. Not noticing the changes in the race card and not questioning himself why there is a change it can be jockey or shoe or distance change

5. playing all races including 2Y or 3Y old races as if they know how the horse is going to run for the first time. Simply punters can ignore these races and enjoy it and make a note of horses which is performing in this races and following them next time

6. Based on my obervation many of the punters do not know whether Bookies are eating the bets because they do not stand in the ring and observe what the bookies are doing, Punter simply see the odds and if it is 1.25 for place and 90 Pasise for place they bet heavily

Above are my observation based on my experience and accept or rejecting it as per your wise.

Regards

Govindarajan sir,

Thanks for your offer.

I do not bet trinella/exacta in all races.  Only when there is carried over amount, then I will make an attempt.  In the lead post, I have mentioned exacta, jackpot, and trinella bets and also stated that there was carried over amounts in the four pools out of five that  I played.  Of course, only one clicked.

My main bet is forecast.  Certainly, I do not want to disturb you by asking tips on that count.  I play normally 250 or 300.  Very rarely 500.  Certainly, that pool is relatively easier and I restrict my bets to maximum  1500/- a day.  I win around 12 to 15 bets out of 100 attempts.  And, losses are very small and certainly I can afford that.

I thank you very much for your offer to help  me & very much appreciate that good gesture.

However, I do not take anybody's help in betting.  I only hope that you will not mistake me.  This is not the case of declining an offer  made by you in good faith.  I am only telling you that, so far I have not taken any help from any tipster and not interested/inclined in changing that habit.

As you are well aware, forecast demands that you should select the first two fin ishers in right sequence.  My experience is if I pick the winner correctly, the runner that I picked proves wrong and vice versa.  Both correct horses I am able to win only 1 bet in 7 or 8 races.  But, loss is curtailed to the maximum.

My post was only to ask horsetalk members to share their experience in betting exercise.  Nothing more.

Today there was only one bet from me.  That also there was refund!  The two more bets I had planned for 6th and 7th races.  Lord Varuna played his trick and I went home with no-loss-no-profit status.   My today's bet was   2-3 (queen of good times*Scorpene) forecast 300/-.  No-3 was scratched and I got money back.

And I once again thank you for your kind gesture.

Why do punters lose? The most important thing is the Horse. Many expect the horse to perform at the same winning level always. Many horses win or lose unexpectedly. Unlike other pet animals, the racehorse behavior much strange, due to confinement in isolation for a very long period of a day. The so-called equine lovers equate racehorse with an athlete. If you place M.Phelps in isolated confinement for a fortnight, he may develop Hydrophobia.by the time he comes out. When punters lose their bet, they abuse trainer jockey and the owner ( in filthy language) without giving a thought that the connected people are also in shock.

Raghavan sir,  you are one of my favorites in this column.

Jackpot, Treble, Tanala, Exacta and F/C all too many horses and races involved.

If we are not able to pick one or two winning horse per day then how can we pick 5 winners ?

According to me playing the above pools are waste of money and time.

Win or Place is the best.

My suggestion sir.

How to be successful in betting races. Very simple. Study race card well and memorize all runners of the day with jockey, trainer owners. Upto entering of race   course all punters are sure must be having two or three sure shot winners or place bets. But what s happening during running of races we overhear some one discussing that they got information that particular horse is trying or eating. So immediately what we believe them forgetting our own calculations. Fearing outcome still we play small amount on our own selected horse or bet on hearsay. Finally our calculations before entering course we're right but we didn't play. This s what happening for every punters. To make up losses we get into lot of action some day we gain some day we loss.

Yesterday Kramer Vs The Kiss in Kolkatta. I played Kramer(race no.209) at 8-1 on the last day of Kolkatta season where The Kiss was favourite ridden by Sandesh. That day I was profitable by 20k. Yesterday I was thinking to play place bet on Kramer. But at the time of racing I thought CS not win any previous races and this time 100mtrs extra so surely The Kiss will win, thinking like this I played The Kiss. But my horse Kramer won. So changing of minds at the time of racing is spoiling many punters. Nobody can say that they r not such type. If they say line that then they are telling lies.

Do not attend all centers and all days. If you don't like the card then don't attend that day. Happily follow it on your mobile.

Select only 3 races in a day. Play win or place Rs 500,1000 or 2000. Do not exceed more than that.

If you don't have extra money do not borrow or take loan. Just enjoy from home and don't get worried if your pick wins.

The best way to stay away from betting  is to avoid seeing the record. If you don't study the race then you won't bet.

Bet low, stick to your bet, never hear what others talk and wait patiently for your race to come.

If you win be happy, if you lose go home sad.

No one can make a fortune out of racing, simply enjoy the game.

Ayyarnet jee,

Fully agree with you.  Betting for win in just 2 or 3 races is a sure road to prosperity.  Of course, the bets should pass.  Even if our bets fail, loss is limited.

You are comfortable with betting for a win.  There is no reason to change that habit.  You bet.  Sometimes you lose.  Sometimes you win.  GOD IS IN HEAVEN.  ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD.

But, there is also another way that punters think.  Of course their number is small.  They think investing in JP or treble is worth.  Let us respect their thinking also.

As I have stated in my main post, I took 3 tickets each costing 50/-.  Say, with such a small investment, can you play win/shp?  At least if you are betting 500, you can think of betting for win/shp.  But, with the current GST rules, as far as I am concerned,  betting for win/shp/place at tote is completely ruled out.  Of course, punters who can not bet with bookies are still betting in those pools.  (Some bookies are taking minimum of 2000 bets).

So,  there are two types of punters.  One preferring to do business with bookies for win/place & the other being satisfied with tote dividends whenever his bets click.  Both are RIGHT.  At least that is what I feel.

As stated several times, I have stopped betting for win or place.  My maximum bets are on forecast.  Sometimes trinella/exacta/treble.  The main reason is GST.  And, whatever may be other people's  complaint, I welcome the current GST rules.  But for GST, I would have continued to bet for win/shp.

Siva Ramakrishna jee,

Good.  You bet in limited races.  That is what the doctor has advised to every patient.  (Punter).  Good Luck.

At present, if you want to buy car, scooter etc you should cough up  28% GST.  The automobile industry association is pleading with the Government to reduce the GST to 18%.  Somebody should wake up our turf club stewards who are in deep slumber.  No one is caring to take up punter's problem with the Government..

I read your article and reply is,

First you should choose which pools is easy to play for you.

But you choose exacta pool, this is very tough and me also. Same thing jackpot pools also tough to predict.

If you want any help to earn in racing in future contact me any time in chennai race course at Balaji&co bookie. my number (9940388482).

My advice to you, choose to play easy game within your cash limit.

If you gain minimum 1000/- per day then, you are one among the winner in one racing day.(30,000-per month)

All is within you. Just change your way of play.....you are also gainer...

I am ready to help anybody like you.

Dear All,

Most of you have given very good suggestions. I really liked it.

The thing is we are so negative and not ready to listen or accept what others say. We just say mind you business, we know what to do, how much to play, what to play etc etc...

This is good that warning signs should be flaged often for punters to just think for a second what others are saying is right? I mean not everyone will take it seriously, even if few punters changes with your thoughts, is very good and you have done your job.

Well done you all.

Kautilya,

Why are you showing such contempt to punters?   They did not learn the lessons during the initial 15 days/month of their betting career.  And got trapped.  O K.  We can at least remain silent, if we can not sympathise with them.

Robert,

Right.  Horse race is still a sport.  Supreme Court has ruled that it is a game of skill.  Perhaps, some purists dub that as gambling.  But, the Club asks you to bet only 10/-.  O K.  In the current days of money value, I do not think 200/300 bet will harm any punter.   It is only when the punter ignores the warning from his subconscious and bets heavily that the problem starts.

Krish,

So we should be there only in time to bet in the last race!  People reach the duty point late by minimum of 15 minutes and there are instances when they reach the work spot 2/3 hours late.  But, horse race!  Punters are very very punctual.

Hals:

Punters should learn to bet in races and also skip races.  Most of the punters will stop beting only after they lose their last rupee.

Joker,

Your two bets passed.  The winnings  was sufficient to you on that day and you walked out.  Wise thing.you did.

There are many punters who walk out even after one successful bet.  However, I would like to hear the same thing from losers.  It is very difficult to stop betting after some initial losses.  If punters lose 2k or 4k in two bets, most probably they will continue betting till they lose all the money they have in possession.  It is relatively easy to stop betting agter 1 or 2 successful bets.

Prasad,

The only thing that I can say is  do not chase your losses.  There are some crackpots interacting in this site who may give some rotten and preposterous assurances.  Do not fall in their trap.

It is your money that you lost and you only should decide whether to continue betting or quit the game.  Of course, I do not advise you to do this or that.  You follow one thumb rule.  Never bet even 100/- more than what you can afford.

Kolramsri:

Yes.  There are some stupid crackpots  interacting in this site who think they can win in races, that too in millions every day.  Let them continue with their non sense.

I am not against their earnings.  Let them win lakhs or crores.   But, do not brag in this site after the races.

My dear friends

In sanskrit we have a saying "Var mare vadhu mare pandith ko Dakshina se mathlab hai. In English whether Bride goes or Bridegroom goes no problem Purohit is interested in his (Dakshna) Fees only. So our club will be interested in their commission only never bother about punters.

All these pools Jackpot, SHP Trinella etc are designed to drain our pocket only. Since amount comes small punters nevedr realise their loss.

Jackpot is actually hanging a carrot before a doinkey's mouth but however it may try it will not cath but in that temptation it will move and climb up and that is what the owner wants.

I never touch all these pools to avoid disappointment later.

The only way t make money is to play on WIN ONLY.

If you can pick up one or two races and play safely and be happy with your return it will be good..

My personal feelings is that there exiusts a NEGATIVE FORCE inside the

Race Course and all of us lose our conscious state to some extent due to these Negative Forces. It alters our conscious mind and tempts us to play and even change our selection at the last moment

After so many experiments I go to Race course with limited funds and decide what to play before entering the Race course and write it in a piece of pater just one or two Horses in the whole day program. I do not change my selection at any stage and by chance if the Horse is withdrawn i do not place alternative horse.

Quitting is very difficult and it will install a fear in our mind and it will apply in all our action in our life. In stead of quitting involve correction and follow frequently winning jockeys rather than playing all We should never exceed our limit with due consideration of future consequences if you lose your money.

My experiment is that if you lose money with a frequently winning jockey you can recover your loss soon since they will be winning again soon.

Somehow I have survived  from Late Dr.Ramaswamy's Half a crown winning many races. Those days even a just 500 used to be a big amount.

With a limited budget following owners like Ramu, Khaitan Ranjit Bhat and Trainer Byramji's Horses we did make money and loss of course usual but still we recobvered our loss by following Jockey V.Shinde, Jagdish and Aslam Khader. We do not touch other jockeys but prefer to watch rather than playing.

My suggestion is just to keep WIN only and avoid all other pools designed to drain our pocket. Problem with our puntersa they play all races and feinvest their earnings continuously. and get into the Gambling Disorder.

Regards to all

Raghavan sir:

The main reason for the loss is continuous  reinvestment.

Jackpot, SHP Exacta or Treble are all designed to drain our pockets.

Probably you may not aware many times Club themselves cash Jackpot tickets by bringing most unexpected horses. Entire field is corrupt. But we are addicted to easy money. Many people suffer due to addiction. As one of our pointed out it is not merely money but in goes with Family, Friends Relatives etc

Still you can make little money provided you control your mind play only WIN and go home.

If you are a seasoned punter you can easily predict one or two races with certainity. If you play and go home just watch the races it is possible you can make litlle money. If you continue to bet from 1st Race to last race chances are very little.

Many Race book or India Race.com give days best  Most of the Days best selection comes through If you bet just tghese Days Best also you can make little.

But in my personal opinion there exists a NEGATIVE FORCE  inside the Race course because of which we lose certain percentage of conscious mind and become a victiom  These Negative forces often alter your mind and force you to change your selection and drain yoiur pocket..

It varies person to persons If you just play a known horse with prominent jockey with atleast 50 percent chance still win is possible. I play only Horses ridden by Prominent top three jockes only. I do not touch others

The point if you lose with a frequently winning Jockey say Trevor  it is possible to recoiver your loss soo n or later.  In these way I have trainined my self by following Horses with prominent jockeys only.

My loss is not much but still I do recover my loss with constant faith.

Best of luckj to all

Respected Raghavan Sir,

You are always correct... The way you explained about racing in your previous articles are 100% true... For last many months I am following your advice... Whenever I am intrested to go to off-tote centre I am taking 2k or 3k... My maximum betting is 2k... I may win or I may loose... Just for entertainment... Many a times I used to loose... But stopped regular puntting... To be frank I am a poor punter with less knowledge... Just because of your words I realised a lot... but I never suggest or ask anybody to stop betting or not to visit race course... It depends on their personal view and ability... One thing is sure... no one can recover the lossess or no one can get huge profits continuously... If any one says that I am good enough in racing...It's a wrong statement with hypocracy... For last 10 years I am going...I didn't get any profits...It's true...Nowadays I controlled my self...I am o.k... The one who can't quit, better to control himself with low betting for just entertainment. Thank you Raghavan Sir... Always I respect you and your words... With regards... Siva Ramakrishna.

Just study last race of the day and play. If you are certain about winning and play substancial amout which may be win or place or SHP or THP or all. If you win, just cash it and leave the race track. Here if you win there is no further loss reason last race and if you loose there is no further more losses. Just think about it. I think my tip may useful to smart people.

Hai friends,

I am in racing from past 54 years.I stepeed into mysroe race course at the age of six as a owners relative.I have lost more than 4 cr my own money,The most dangerous thing in racing is temptatrion. Any punter looking into JP dividend gets tempted to play. I got jp when indictment won derby which was around 5.53 lacs. But the amount i have invested on jp till date is more than 50 lacs.only one jp for 54 yrs!!!!! let us forget of jps which i have passed many which is less than 10k .Thses pools are for govt.and clubs not for punters.coming to bookies they are masters in tempting punters any person standing in the ring will get tempted. It is foolishness to stand in the ring and judge better sit in the stand and observe the going you may get 50 paise less but you can judge sitting calmly. Even i get one or two horses in a day on my own knowledge but we are not satisfied with returns . we want to become carodpathis in one day but finally we will be bikshdhipathis.Anyway it a good topic to discuss and know what is going on. Like bookies ,owners,if punetrs can have a syndicate even bookies find tough to handle. this is for every punetr information.

Hi raghavan,

Nice writeup but in the end u say u banked three treble.

Lets take my day yesterday.

Had a client call at 1pm which ended at  2:45pm.  Post finshing my tiffin in the cafetaria, reached the race course at 3:25.  Went inside approx when there were 5 mins, planned on playing Dandy Man, got saved.

Next was the Colts, I backed Exclusive Blue  place@2/1.

Took the winning amt   n plunged it on Star of Tiara place@1.

No pt waiting fr the 5b race

There are 3 known persons ready to repudiate your observation, that it is not based on reason and common sense, and it is a soliloquy from a confirmed loser. The rest will follow.

It's not easy to quit racing. But one can have a fixed amount for each race according to their ability. One should know his financial abilities to bet on each race. Never chase the lost money by betting more in the next races because you always tend to go with upset horses to cover your losses. But it only aggravates more.

Just 200 per race, play forecast quinella or trinella.  Think about your family, children. I don't want to blame the bookies, jockey, trainers or anyone, because we step in to the racing center knowing these things already

Punters are losers..Period.. There is no remedy. People r fooling themselves and others by advicing different methods like selective betting, minmum betting and what not. Puners are plain idiots. Puners doesnt lose money, they lose loved ones' dreams, happiness and peace of mind. They do not deserve any sympathy.

Yes sir, it was discussed a number of times in this forum. My only suggestion is to limit the no of races per day, not more than 3. Here one has to avoid V-B, class I, terms races n classics, where mostly chance manipulation. Follow a pattern according to the individual like jockey, trainer or class etc as one feels like. Play certain amount according to the individual capacity, one or races for win or place or shp etc.Dont bring extra money to course other than for two races. Instead of blindly following the tipsters take the points they mention, calculate with ones own pattern and have a healthy discussion with trested fellow friends, try get some specific advice / clarification from honest seniors in this calumn- there are many -before place your bet. A post-mortem can also advised to ascertain the nitty-gritty of handicapping, rating etc. Thanks
