The history behind Indian 2000 G

The tradition of holding classic races in India arried rather late in colonial history of the country . The Briish introduced horse racing to India as early as 1700s and hosted the first classic in UK in early 1800 s. But these races were not introduced in India for another 150 years.

The first edition of the Indian classics was started in 1943 by RWITC in Mumbai . There were 3 races that year 1000 G , 2000 G and famous indian derby .

In the 1st 7 editions The 2000 G were held in month of jan , before shifting to new standard dec schedule in 1949 . That year there were 2 editions of 2OOO G one in january and again in dec.

While the distinction for 1st ever indian classic goes to 1000 G , The 2000 G has been more popular as it involves both colts and fillies. and it also plays a key part in the Indian version of The triple crown given to the colt or filly who manages to win the 1 mile ( 2000 G) , 1.5 MILE ( DERBY) and 3 mile (st leger) classics in a single season.

The 1st ever winner of 2000 G was princess beautiful a filly trained by M C patel ridden by E Britt she also won 1000 G and the derby same year

Pesi shroff's alexei & sultan suleiman should fight out... Paddock check is advised. Most probably later would be favourite at good odds and as per trainer is fit as fiddle but alexei also ran a race under check wish trevor riding him again but not sure who it would be. Kildare may place....
